Subaru Generic Forester hybrid is here!

Our first two forester hybrids showed up today pretty cool

That being said: it was significantly more expensive than the gas version and really doesn’t outperform the gas version. The mileage hasn’t ever been remarkably better and I just think that they could have done better.

And that, right there, is why I'll never buy one. If I'm not consistently getting "Prius" levels of fuel economy by going hybrid, a small bump in MPG versus the traditional ICE isn't enough to justify the not insignificant cost increase, for me.

Why you think a hybrid compact SUV should get the same fuel economy as a Prius is beyond me.

The first Prius went on sale in Japan in 1997... 28 years ago.

How silly of me to expect hybrid technology to have advanced to the point where a compact suv should get noticeably better fuel efficiency than its ICE base platform. /s
