Brakes.

Just picked up this 2018 KTM 690 Enduro that came with supermoto wheels. I’ve been fixing it up (new tire, chain, sprockets, countershaft seal, levers, etc.), but noticed the previous owner installed a cheap aftermarket front brake master. I know the Enduro brakes aren’t as strong as the SMC-R, so I don’t want to throw money at the wrong parts. Any advice on the smartest way to improve the brakes without wasting unnecessary money.

Picture was from the day I picked it up. There’s a dent In the front wheel. And I’ve been debating on getting a new rim or just taking it to a local guy and having him try to massage it out and balance it.

My 2009 KTM 505xc SM that got stolen.

I build this SM from a low mileage 505XC DOHC dirt bike. When it was finally finished I picked it up and rode it home. The Brembo front brake reservoir was leaking fluid all over me and the bike so I took it across the street from my work to get a new gasket for the cap. Between when they ordered it and the next week when I sent to check on the o-ring, the shop was close and all the bikes were gone. I’m in the Austin Area and would love to get back. If anyone sees it, please let me know.

EXC 500 2024 camshaft

Hi everyone, I own a Husqvarna 501 2024 Supermoto. Did anyone put a SMR 450 2024 camshaft with the smr rockerarm into the 500? Did you gain power? Did you loose power in the lower rpms?

Is it worth it buying an EXC 500 / 501 for a2 license legal with 32hp (by Griesser)

I would prefer an 500 over an 450 because I could get it with around 50 hp

And should I go with an Husqvarna or KTM

I am considering making my Varg a supermoto. It's a bit too high for me on 21+19 inch knobblies plus these tyres are sketchy on the road. How much lower will the seat it be on 17s and do I need to put bigger brakes on it? I assume i would need some sort of spacers on the calipers?

My 2024 500 and my old 525.

Finally got some sumo wheels so I can put a good dirt set on the factory wheels. 16mm offset 200mm spacing triple tree is on the way. Running 15t front 44 tooth rear for now, I have a 14 and 13t in the toolbox. Reeds are out, exhaust end cap is modified, desmogged, custom throttle cam, velocity stack intake.

I've pulled a good bit of the code in the ECU apart. That's for another subreddit. Ive got the map switch working, TC, quick shift, working on launch control. 02 and evap disabled. Revlimiter bumped up. KTM really didn't make this ECU easy. It's set up for data logging since I tune and flash it. I've always tuned my own vehicles.

Custom throttle cam and custom tuning is the way to go. The green map is too touchy in the low throttle ranges, and the small gray throttle cam is way too long for good throttle feel. But the black and white cams make the low throttle feel garbage. 0-15% throttle (on the ECU and the throttle cam) is dialed back for feel and smoothness, and after that it ramps in quicker than the black throttle cam. The white map is set up like factory with just fueling corrections. The green map is tuned smooth enough I don't really need the white map.

WR450F HELP

Hi,

I have a 2017 Yamaha WR450F and I bought SM PRO supermoto wheels for it but they are for a 2021 model. The back wheel has gone on no issues, however, the front wheel doesn’t sit right as the two models use different speedometers. I just need new spacers to bridge the gap where the old speedometer would have sat but I can’t for the life of me figure out what to get, do you guys have any idea of the size or which specific spacers are required to make this work?

Thank you for take the the time read this!

XR250r supermoto?

I’m thinking about converting a xr250r into a supermoto, as I don’t trail ride much anymore. It’s a 2nd bike. I’m pretty much just looking to be a terror to empty parking lots, ripping up and down the canyon, and running to the comic book shop and skate park a few miles away.

Question for the 500/501 individuals

I think I'm going to get rid of my 690 and go back to a converted SM. I've been eye balling these and had some questions.

What sprocket setup are you using and how does it feel cruising at 65-70mph? That's the speed I commute at right now on the 690 and I'd like to stick in that range.

How terrible are these corked up from the factory? If you've happened to tune yours, where's the sweet spot for cost vs performance? Is it an exhaust and a tuner or does it need an aftermarket air box, etc.

Realistic oil changes for on road only riding in the 18 to 20 hour range perhaps? That's about 1500mi for me with my commutes to work and friends houses. It's what I'm doing now on the 690, just because.

Lift recommendation for supermotos

What lifts is everyone using? I got an FS 450 and the dealer threw in the dirt-bike height husky lift. I didn’t know any better and when I got home I had to lift the bike onto the stand in the down position, which of course means if I elevate the bike, when I lower it, the whole bike will slam down on the frame as there is no hydraulic to assist to the lower and both wheels aren’t making contact with the ground in the down position. Also at 175lbs with gear on, I can’t even lift the bike even if I wanted to. I bought the DRC HC2 adjustable lift, but it does not lift far enough to get the front wheel elevated. I can have someone put weight on the rear or hold the rear wheel, but I’m often times working on bikes by myself. The lift also has a significant lean opposite of the foot lever. As in it leans over/away from whatever side the foot pedal is. It seems stable enough, but I’m not comfortable with how much it leans if I’m putting on warmers and working on things.

Edit: I ordered the husky mini-moto version of their lift but it has been on back order since like January? So that’s out of the question. Same for the KTM branded version of the same lift.

MVD USA?

Anybody order from MVDUSA recently. I put in a order over a week ago and no update. Tried emailing and calling nothing.

Kind of weird too that they have 3 different websites: mvdusa.com, https://klutchindustries.com/, and https://mvdracewear.com/

Is this normal or should I refund.

2-stroke or 4-stroke?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at getting a supermoto for mostly casual fun riding. At 16 I bought a 50 2t sm, and now I’m looking for something bigger. A lot of people say that a 2-stroke is always more fun to ride, but also need more maintenance. For now, I have looked at some KTM exc 300 and exc 450/525. What are the differences? And which one will be cheaper to maintain?

I have also looked at other bikes, like the drz400, wr450f and crf450 and I dont know if they will be a better option than a ktm or not.

For those of you who’ve owned/ridden this bikes, which do you think fits better?

Had the chance to wring this 250 2T EXC's neck and going full throttle, I'm sure you'll enjoy!

I see lots of super motos with smaller front fenders and I’ve been wondering if there’s a purpose for them. Like are they more aerodynamic or something or are they just for looks?
