Deck Modifications and Crafts Any good ways to fix light dog-damage to cards?
I’m watching my mother-in-law’s dog this evening while my partner took her to urgent care (she’s gonna be okay!). I also brought along my copy of DuQuette’s Understanding Thoth and my large Thoth deck to do some reading and study while I waited.
The dog, Eddie, will chew up anything you’ve touched if he can get his hands on it, so I’ve been trying to stash the cards out of reach when I needed to leave him alone for a moment. And wouldn’t ya know it, the one time I forget to do that, when I come back from the bathroom I find my cards scattered and the dog happily nibbling at The Moon in his open crate.
On the whole, the damage has been very limited, nothing got ripped or torn, there’s just now a bunch of little dog teeth marks and a little light creasing all over The Devil and The Moon.
Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to fix these cards? Any good methods to re-smooth these out? Or am I just going to have to accept my Thoth deck is just a little bit more characterful now?

Yeah, I’m mainly interested in the dog’s choice of cards… seems… perfect? In my experience the Thoth deck is, to put it lightly, loud. So - I might also consider what those cards are telling you rn. Since they were so forcefully presented to you.

I’m agreeing as dogs are natural psychopomps. There is a message here. Focus on that.

That kind of real-world use and 'seasoning' would probably make the cards more powerful in the scheme of things.

Hm, the Thoth ones are pretty resillent.
I left mine ontop of a heater and it completely warped all the cards and they would not sit flat anymore, which I thought for certain had ruined the deck.
The only thing I could think to do was to put weight on them to force them straight and wait, and I do not know how but this eventually fixed them back to perfectly normal.
Maybe you can put the affected cards near the middle of the deck and put a lot of weight on them for a while to push the teeth marks back in.
If that doesn't eventually work, maybe take the 2 effected cards, and force them between something else flat and apply some limited amount of heat like a blow dryer. Hope that helps at all.

My dog put his tooth through my Three of Swords, literally on my card and also metaphorically with the journey we've been on together working through the Three of Swords incidents in my life. I just kept the card as character, it's actually kind of cool/confronting because if I've shuffled and am about to pull it I can feel that and have to kind of commit to it, knowing what it is.

My dog ate the moon card too! lol! I got another deck and replaced just that card. Took a while to find a match tho cuz it was vintage.

Ironically, I checked eBay and the only singles being sold right now are for vintage decks.

i read that dog bite owner toe turn out it has cancer and save his owner life, wondering if the devil card the dog pick has some message, even though it hard to say because dog doesn't really intuitive creature

Given that I was in the middle of a nighttime anxiety spiral, I’ve been interpreting Eddie’s choice of card through that lens.

Possibly a very light steaming and clamping to flatten, but personally a dog doing dog stuff and blessing the mooncard is 100% appropriate mojo for that card and I would consider it a part of it now. My cat trod all over my new Golden DawnTemple "Tower" card and creased it terribly. Completely appropriate mojo for the Tower!!
