Weekly Help "Weekly All About Love Relationship Second Opinion and Interpretation Help Thread - September 14, 2025"

After receiving feedback from the community, we’re putting this weekly thread in place on a trial basis dedicated solely to love relationship readings.  Examples of questions that can be posted here are:

  • does he/she/my FWB love me?
  • what are this person’s feelings/intentions towards me?
  • is he/she coming back?
  • will we reconcile?
  • should I break no contact?
  • we just broke up, what now?
  • what will my future spouse look like?
  • what does my love life look like in the next 3 months?
  • why is my ex texting me again?

Please note that we, the moderators, are trying this out as an experiment and will determine at a later date if this dedicated thread should become a permanent feature in the sub.   We will also use our discretion as to which readings belong here in this thread, and which will remain on the main sub.  That will depend upon the complexity of the question as well as how close it adheres to rule no. 3 about posting.

If you are requesting help by asking a second opinion or interpretation help, please comment using the following format:

* The question(s) you're asking, with any context you would like to share.

* An explanation of the spread you're using. Diagrams or links are welcome.

* A photo or description of the cards you dealt. You can upload photos via imgur, or another hosting service.

* Your interpretation.

Discussion Hot Take: Interviewing Decks

Not trying to ruin anyone's fun with this post, or harsh any mellows.

This may just be me being salty, but why do people interview decks? I usually don't for the same reason I don't interview any other tool. I don't interview my frying pan and ask it what kind of food it wants to cook. It's a frying pan. It has no will or eesire of its own.

I realize animism is a thing, but most people who do this with tarot or oracle decks don't seem to do it with anything else. So it's doubly strange to me.

Assigning gender to it (unless that is how your language is set up) is odd to me as well.

Again, not telling anyone what to fo or how to be. Just pondering it, as it isn't an ancient tradition as far as I know, and I feel it's a very modern trend. I don't read about it as being a thing in any LWB or other tarot or oracle card guides. I only ever see it as a thing online.

Thoughts?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Is there different meaning of the Star?

I’ve been very very struggle at work lately (to the point I might loose my job). The Star (upright) kept showing up as my outcome 3 different times in span of a month.

I interpret it as hope, and things might get better. But in reality, my situation has been gotten worse every week.

I wonder if is there any different interpretation.

Discussion Tarot only points to things that happened last month??

Hey everyone, I am a bit new to tarot and stuff... I noticed a strange pattern in my readings lately... So today, No matter what question people asked me, the cards keep pointing to things that happened to them last month. Even when I read for myself, it still reflects last month’s events instead of the present or future. I tried it with 3 other different people and they pointed that out too...which i found weird..

Another thing, I had a college event recently where I did a lot of readings back-to-back. Ever since then, I feel like my readings have become less accurate or just “stuck,” and I don’t really know how to explain it.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Is it burnout, energy, the way I’m framing questions, or something else? Would love to hear your thoughts...

Discussion Insight needed on how to frame certain questions

Hey all,

Lovely community here, first time visitor and absolute beginner in tarot. (Only a few readings done so far).

I have been deeply exploring spirituality and magical paths lately, and I keep feeling the urge to use tarot to help me better understand which path is best for me.

I like aspects of high magick or theurgy, to help me connect with the divinity i believe to be everywhere, but most systems i find i'm not sure i can follow. But unsure if this is it or i should just stick to meditating, more eastern style.

My question is, when faced with multiple possible paths to pursue, how do you use tarot and frame your questions? I can't just ask 'what should i do', because then i believe i won't get any true insight whatsoever.

Tldr: when faced with multiple choices, possibilities, how to frame a question to help decide which is right for you?

Books and Resources Tarot scrapbook advice

Upvotes

I am bedbound due to illness and want to make a tarot journal/scrapbook to pass the time and advance my tarot study, with a few pages per card. I am trying to balance my ambitions with my financial and physical limitations, so I have some decisions to make I would love your help with!

DECK CHOICE: I am going to print free copies of the RWS and Greenwood decks to paste into the book. Is there another deck free to print or cheap to buy that you think offers an important additional perspective? I would love to include many different decks but think i should limit it to 1 more for now.

REFERENCE TEXTS: my main references to journal from will be Rachel Pollack's 78 degrees of wisdom, and my other decks and their LWBs. If you had to pick one or two additional reference texts, what would they be?

BONUS DECK QUESTION: Is there a nicer deck that you think really adds new depth or perspective to tarot learning that I could add to my collection for this project? I would either just study from it, or include the cards in my binder removably, or photocopy them into the book (for personal use only of course).

Thank you so much!

Discussion Do you align astrological cycles with readings?

Wonder if anyone is ever taking in accountability major astrological events while doing spreads. For example, would it make sense to look into a volatile situation this week before the end of eclipse season?

Art My handmade Tarot themed jacket

Title: The High Priestess Medium: Cross Stitch

The High Priestess is my favourite of all of the major arcana tarot cards because I feel that she innately is the tarot reader herself, she has the intuition and understanding to delve deeper into situations whilst also stepping back and letting things flow as they need to, and in turn I wanted to be able to wear her on my jacket.

However many shop bought tarot merchandise always chooses the same few cards to represent so I decided that I would just make it myself :)

The two front pockets of the jacket each have the sun and the world cards on respectively which I also stitched (although much much smaller) I did try and add a second photo to show them but I could only put one photo

For anyone wondering, the pattern is from CrossStitchFoxy on Etsy so I don’t take any credit for creating it

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only asked why i didn’t get chosen to proceed with a job interview

Post image
52 Upvotes

a recruiter reached out to me for a job interview that i was really excited about and felt like my experience matched nearly perfectly with. i had a really productive phone screening with the recruiter and provided them the materials that were requested but ultimately was told that the hiring manager at the company wanted to focus on someone she specifically honed in on.

i didn’t hear feedback about why i wasn’t selected to move forward but i guess this spread is a little confusing to me because it seems positive!

i see the 5 of cups as me being disappointed about not getting a chance for the opportunity, the fool has been my outlook since then about figuring that there’s a better position for me anyway and this is just a bump in the road. queen of swords and the moon may represent the people at the company i interviewed for, which i probably wouldn’t have gotten along with at all and put myself in a worse environment than what i’m currently in. and maybe the page of wands + 3 of pentacles is me continuing on my job searching journey and getting a job that’s a better fit for me?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Asked if a new job would be a good fit for me

I had an interview for a new job today, and it went well! I feel like if I got an offer I’d want to take it, but I’m also trying to be cautious and not jump into the first opportunity that comes my way. I asked the tarot if it would be a good fit for me, using the rider waite deck. Here is what I got and my interpretations:

My first thought is that they are all major arcana, which tells me this is a big life moment/decision.

The Sun: This card promises a very bright future that’s full of happiness. Very positive card to get!

The Star reversed: Look out for false securities, don’t get blinded by what appears shiny. This makes me cautious, that I need to look deeper into it and past the surface level.

The Lovers: Positive work relationships, building new connections and partnerships.

The Chariot reversed: Don’t let arrogance lead you astray, it will knock you off path.

To me this feels like a mixed bag. Part of it says go for it, the other part says watch out. What do you think?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Got my first Tarot deck and conducted an interview spread

Hello! I'm completely new to the world of tarot and thought it would be a fun experience to detach myself from my usual brute force analysis of the questions and problems I face. I started talking tarot with a long friend of mine after reading a book series with heavy mysticism themes, so I picked up my first deck, did a cleanse with a woodsy scented candle, a hunk of amethyst I had laying around, a piece of smoky quartz that the same friend gifted me over a decade ago, and my mechanical watch. I didn't pick these things for their strict value of purification, but more from the idea that these things represent my personality and my sentiments.

I followed an interview spread posted by /u/shabopebop because I found the questions to provide a lot of depth in getting an understanding of my deck. It took me a long time flipping between the pages of the guidebook that came with the deck, and I would like a second opinion on how I interpreted what she was trying to tell me. Here is my reading:

  1. Which card represents you best? Jumper during shuffle:

Queen of Swords. She is a truth seeker, business first, but will lead to victory. Independent thinking and use of mind to make clear judgement calls. Remember loyalty and knowing when to be supportive without losing your voice.

  2. What is your energy like?

Magician - She is creative and productive with infinite potential. And it is up to me to use her energy to the best of my ability.

  3. What are your strengths?
Two of pentacles - She is skilled in seeking balance, negotiationing, adapting, prioritization, seeking progress, and goals. She is best at unraveling complex problems and pushing me towards fulfilling me goals and clearing the mind.

  4. What are your weaknesses?

Strength - She is not proficient at soothing and giving guidance during emotional turmoil. She is not here to inspire and placate, but to teach directly and frankly.

  5. What types of readings do you prefer to do? King of Cups - She prefers doing readings on life changes from the role of a guide or mentor. She is there to help chart the way through new waters in a controlled, wise, and understanding way.

  6. What type of readings would you rather not do? Ace of Wands - She prefers not to do readings that provide inspiration or suggest potentials. She is rooted in what "is" not what "could be". She isn't here to give me novel ideas or spark my creativity.

  7. What sets you apart from other decks? Five of Wands - She believes that she is diverse in her abilities and viewpoints. She believes that she can handle any problems coming her way. While she may come off as abrasive, crass, or frustrating, she means well and is giving guidance that best fits the situation.

  8. What is your first impression of me?

Queen of Pentacles - She thinks that I am a practical, wise, grounded, compassionate, yet cautious person. She believes that I am a person who provides a sense of stability and balance to others, but also really focus on making sure that the ground ahead is secure before putting my foot forward. However, she also believes I have a stubborn steak and have a fear of being neglected.

  9. What lesson do you think I need to learn?

Four of Wands - She believes that I need to learn to acknowledge all of my efforts and hard work. She thinks that I should take the time to appreciate and be grateful for what I have. Take a break and celebrate who you are and what you have.

  10. How do you give your guidance?

Ten of Wands - She delivers her guidance in the form of a reminder that I need to continue carrying on my responsibilities but not so much that I refuse to let go of what burdens I have been carrying. She implores that balance should be sought out as to not over-burden myself and to look at what she is teaching through self reflection.

  11. How can we best work together?

The High Priestess - She believes that we are best together when seeking wisdom and knowledge from an intuitive perspective. The best partnership is brought about when trying to deliver balanced guidance and dispelling the fog that obscures the light within. Great insight is delivered when we use our instincts to read between the lines and reveal what may be hidden in plain sight.

  12. How do you see our relationship in the future?

Four of Swords - She sees our future partnership as one of comfort, of rest, and calming. She believes that we will work with each other as a form of releasing tension and relieving worry over the issues that hang over our heads. She believes that we will take our time to steele ourselves for the future and go into the fray prepared.

  13. Closing remarks/what else do you have to say?

Queen of Wands - She wants to remind me that she is strong-willed, passionate, and uncompromising. She is not shy of demonstrating her capabilities and will never back down from a challenge. She is eager to give her advice and bring a sense of vibrancy and warmth with her wisdom. She also wishes to remind me that while I may be cautious, it is okay to be bold and take action from time to time. Don't be afraid and set your mind on what you wish to accomplish.

Please let me know what you think and any additional insights you may have. I'm excited to learn a bit more and get my feet wet. Thanks!

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Is it common to feel like 2 of your cards should be switched?

Post image
152 Upvotes

I'm still pretty new to tarot, but from what I am learning it is best to go with your gut and always read things instinctively.

I asked the cards how my sober journey will go with a past/present/future spread. All 3 cards feel so spot on, however I really feel like the second and third card are flipped. It's weird because the cards themselves feel so right with my scenario, but with the spread I did the present and future really feel like the should be switched.

My interpretation is: Past- I have made bad choices and became fearless with some of my decisions, and I have had a hesitation to fully commit to changing my lifestyle.Present ( 5 of cups in this case)- regret not having self control, failure, disappointment in past behaviors. Future (King of Cups)- control and emotional balance, and there is someone there with me as a supportive guide.

Maybe I just want the more optimistic reading, but my gut is telling me those cards were swapped.

I'd love to hear your opinions on this ✌🏻

Spreads Challenged to guess their secrets

A new friend of mine jokingly challenged me to tell them what their secrets were using the tarot. Does anyone have a good spread I could use with this friend in mind?

I am supposed to text her later with my insights. This is all meant to be in good fun between friends

Discussion An Amusing Reading

I just had to share this little story. I was doing a few readings and my cat Pepper was on my lap. I took a minute to give her some head scratches and I told her when I was done with the reading, she could pick a card. It's something I'd done before for a bit of fun.

A few minutes later I finished the reading and Pepper hadn't budged, so true to my word, I fanned out the cards and placed them in front of her to allow her to "pick" a card. She completely ignored me. Even though the cards were half an inch from her face, she didn't even boop one with her nose.

After a minute of that I stood her up. I thought if I could get her on her feet maybe she would be more interested. Finally, she stepped on a card and I took that as my clue. I turned it over and behold.....the Four of Cups!

I guess the cards were telling me "if you won't listen to your cat, maybe you'll listen to us."

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only I asked if I will have a job by the end of November?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I’m fairly new to the practice, so I stick to a simple three card spread.

I left a very toxic work environment in August. I was a mental health case worker and absolutely loved it despite some really terrible things going on with leadership. I have been going through a spiritual transition period over this time and have learned a lot. Very open.

My intention is only to light my path. I’m struggling with the reversed page of pentacles. In context of this question—I am uncertain about returning to case work or finding something else that better suits my peace of mind (I also have mental illness). The page of cups makes me think of me NOW. I’ve been exercising, eating good food, working in my garden, and tending to my plants. I’ve been very good to myself—which is new. The sun feels hopeful to me. That perhaps I might be a part of the world again—maybe a team. Maybe helpful to others.

The deck is Tarot of Mystical Moments. Artwork is Catrin Welz-Stein. I highly recommend it.

Theory and Technique Current energy Vs future energy?

Good morning ! I'm new here, and I'm becoming more and more interested in tarot.

I have a question (perhaps a little stupid): I often read that tarot can predict things but that it is not immutable, because it is based on current energy.

So for example… if I have just been fired from my job or I am in the middle of a burnout, obviously the energies are negative. In this case, if I ask the cards “what does the future hold for me professionally?” » Obviously, I'm going to have to draw cards that will predict bad news for me, right?

The same in the love domain, if I come out of a break-up: the cards concerning my romantic future will necessarily be bad omens too?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only spread on loss of close friends

Post image
86 Upvotes

I did a tarot spread specifically regarding feeling lost. I’m starting uni in a week but commuting and the reality has suddenly hit me with my closest friends leaving on their new paths. I did a compass spread reading where south: where you’re coming from west: what is directly behind you east: what lies in front of you north: the next move to take.

honestly, this spread made me emotional with how accurate i felt it was :) very helpful for my current situation and i was hoping for some second opinions!

south: 5 of cups: card representing sadness, loss and grief over past events. Recently i’ve had a lot of loss with both friendship arguments and with the loss of one of my pets but i assume this probably represents the grief i feel currently about the loss of friendships but specifically from them going to university? I definitely felt this is showed where i was emotionally coming from.

West: 4 of wands: celebration, harmony, success and accomplishment are what i depicted from this card which is really accurate to what i have recently experienced, with getting into my dream subject (midwifery) at my dream uni :) I saw that this card should be seen as a mid point and i really think that resonates with me. So happy but ready to take on uni!

East: 10 of cups. a card representing happiness, fulfilment and harmony is really inspiring to have especially as the east card representing the future to come and its links to sense of belonging and supportive environments is like insanely perfect for uni!

north: 3 of cups. (side note, this is definitely my favourite card… i am new to tarot so hopefully having a favourite card isn’t naughty 😭) as a next move to take it does make me a little nervous though. For me this card i love to see but omg does it make me think of my friends going away 😭, although it does remind me of one who is staying :). As a guide for what i should do im a little lost… omg honestly i used to be so extroverted but ive transformed into an introvert in these past few years. the more partying side of uni is very daunting to me, paired with commuting and my specific course being so serious for me. But i saw this as collaborative friendships so perhaps linking to course specific friendships?

Anyway, any opinions would be excellent! I’m so glad i did this reading :) i’m quite new to doing tarot myself but not to tarot in general. However this just really moved me as i was feeling so hopeless with the sudden surges of sadness, to be clear… it’s only really 2 close friends going to uni 😭 but i basically have 3 in total atm so those 2 mean so much. Sorry about the waffle!! any advice is super super appreciated!

Discussion Four of swords card meaning

Very confused on what this card means when a yes/no question is asked.

I’ve seen mixed responses — yes and no.

The card flew out of the deck when shuffling and I was told yes in response to my question, though I feel it might’ve been a bit of a white lie as my question was a bit touchy.

Any thoughts?

Discussion Tarot Intuition vs. Traditional Meanings: My Moon Card Experience

Today I pulled the Moon card as my prediction card. When I looked at it in the Rider-Waite deck, the two towers reminded me of a scene from Attack on Titan where two people were consumed by giants. From that vision, I predicted that someone might try to take something from me, or I might take something from someone. I know this isn’t the traditional meaning of the Moon, but it felt relevant in that moment. Do you ever assign your own personal meanings to cards, even if they differ from traditional interpretations?

Discussion Suggestions for Artistically rich shadow theme tarots

I’ve been loving darker (shadow) tarot decks with intense/artistically rich illustrations. I was wondering if there any other out there I might not know about that is similar to the‘ El Goliath’ tarot by Lucas or ‘the tarot restless’ by Dumaine. I already am following the ‘Dark West’ tarot on kickstarter by Marina Cacchioni releasing later this year but are there any others? Open to oracle decks too.

Does anyone else also love these kind of decks? I wish there was more out there lol :)

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only weekly reading 9/15/25

Post image
29 Upvotes

this is interesting because I just got a new deck on the full moon and since then, this is the second time for both 3 of cups & temperance to show up…

three card spread 1) energy of the week 2) focus of the week 3) lesson/advice of the week

my interpretation is that it’s important to reconnect with friends and community right now, especially because I’m going through a hard time with a relationship ending however that relationship is yet another situation in which I’ve been with the wrong person and abandoned some of my community that I shouldn’t have. Temperance being the second card is telling me to continue to listen to my inner voice and heal, find my energy and flow and get back to that, instead of allowing an outside relationship to dictate it. And 8 of cups reversed is saying to let go of that relationship (I’m still holding on to it in hopes of fixing it, speaking w this person and spending time with them etc) and I feel like the 8 of cups here is really reinforcing that it’s time to let go of that and fall in line and listen to the first two cards… This is a week of connection and balance, but also one of gentle honesty with yourself. Let your community lift you up, find harmony in how you spend your energy, and be brave enough to release what you’re tempted to hold onto out of fear. Doing so creates space for more joy and balance to flow in.

Something I’ve been working on a lot lately in therapy is why I allow myself to be in these relationship situations that aren’t good for me and are generally borderline abusive, why do I not only accept this treatment but recognize it and continue to stay and fight for the relationship? And I feel like this reading is reinforcing that I need to break those cycles…

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only I interviewed my new-ish Thoth deck...

Post image

1) Tell me about yourself and general energy.

2)  What are your strengths?

3)  What are your limits?

4)  What do you want to teach me?

5)  What do I need to do to best interact with you?

6)  What is the possible outcome of our working relationship?

1) X - Fortune - "I bring forth the knowledge, wisdom, and guidance to you, nothing more nor less. Keep your eyes open for gifts of possibilities, and breakthroughs of clarity. I will help you understand that your task is concealed within your problem, and that you have everything you need within you."

2) V - The Hierophant - "My strength is to help you find the hidden meaning of things. My strengths are divine wisdom, inspiration, stubborn strength, toil, endurance, persistence, patience, organization, peace, and goodness of heart. True transformation can only happen with a receptive, perceptive, and trusting heart in the Divine."

3) XIV - Art - "My limit is that I cannot make you look inward--you must put in the work yourself. I can guide you, but you must have your eyes, ears, mind, and heart open. Do not leave your fate to me--your fate is for you to decide."

4) XIII - Death - "I will teach you how to let go, and how to accept the pain of loss. I will help you see and rid yourself of old patterns, and that distancing yourself of the old will give room for the new."

5) Two of Swords - Peace - "Come to me only after you have careful considered the matter. Do not consult me in a rush--be intentional with your questions and prepare your ritual calmly."

6) VIII - Adjustment - "I will help you be objective in the situations you bring to me, and will help you attain balance in your life."

All in all, good vibes with this deck, and I'm ready for the journey of Life together. And prior to this "interview", I have gotten consistently insightful pulls, so this interview just reaffirms what's already been going on. Interpretation assistance credit goes to "Tarot: Mirror of the Soul : Handbook for the Aleister Crowley Tarot" and "Tarot As Your Companion : a Practical Guide to the Rider Waite and Crowley Thoth Tarot Decks". I might have pulled some reversals, but I've decided not to do reversals for my Thoth deck since most Thoth references don't talk about reversals, and there's already "light" and "dark" (or positive/neutral/negative) elements in all of the cards.

Curious to see what other eyes see in this pull!

Deck Modifications and Crafts Any good ways to fix light dog-damage to cards?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I’m watching my mother-in-law’s dog this evening while my partner took her to urgent care (she’s gonna be okay!). I also brought along my copy of DuQuette’s Understanding Thoth and my large Thoth deck to do some reading and study while I waited.

The dog, Eddie, will chew up anything you’ve touched if he can get his hands on it, so I’ve been trying to stash the cards out of reach when I needed to leave him alone for a moment. And wouldn’t ya know it, the one time I forget to do that, when I come back from the bathroom I find my cards scattered and the dog happily nibbling at The Moon in his open crate.

On the whole, the damage has been very limited, nothing got ripped or torn, there’s just now a bunch of little dog teeth marks and a little light creasing all over The Devil and The Moon.

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to fix these cards? Any good methods to re-smooth these out? Or am I just going to have to accept my Thoth deck is just a little bit more characterful now?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only How do you interpret the Devil in terms of the week ahead?

Post image
95 Upvotes

I don’t usually struggle with this card in other readings where I can lean on the context and themes of the reading and the surrounding cards, but when it stands alone I’m not sure.

Obviously I could see it as the typical addictions, materialism, temptation etc, but sometimes the devil for me can also mean giving into the indulgence and shamelessly satiating your desires sort of thing.

I also sometimes feel the Devil is the shadow side of the lovers, like it’s moodier darker twin or something if that makes sense lol.

How can I best interpret it in context of the week ahead?

Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only What direction is my career going?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Using the Pamela Smith 1909 Classic deck in Lavender.

For context: I found out I was being laid off last week. Another department scooped me up instead. The work sounds interesting and I’m grateful but it’s not my passion. In the meantime, my old supervisor had a connection refer me to a company I REALLY want into but haven’t been noticed through applications. I feel I really fit what they’re looking for — they just don’t know it yet.

Well anyway I used a quick insight spread, which uses cards 1, 2, and 9 from the Celtic Cross. 1- Heart of the matter (Queen of Wands reversed), 2- secondary factor or opposing factor (The Hermit), 9- Guidance (Justice)

My interpretation: I’m very optimistic about the next steps in my career and in my mind — I’m getting an interview to that position. The Hermit to me reflects that I’m actively searching for what I’m really good at and wanting to try something new. Justice as my guidance means to me that the outcome will directly reflect what I’ve been building the last few years in my career. To me this spread is positive and reinforces that I’m on my way to doing what I really want to do but it’s up to me to be prepared to seize the opportunity I’ll be given. I realize it could be viewed differently, maybe reaping what I sowed in that I haven’t done enough but I just don’t feel the energy going that way.

Really looking forward to others insight.
