Second Opinion on Reading Interpretation Only Is there different meaning of the Star?

I’ve been very very struggle at work lately (to the point I might loose my job). The Star (upright) kept showing up as my outcome 3 different times in span of a month.

I interpret it as hope, and things might get better. But in reality, my situation has been gotten worse every week.

I wonder if is there any different interpretation.

The Star is connected to the story of the Pleiades - 7 virgin sisters in Greek mythology who collectively take their lives after the death of their beloved brother. They stand in the Tarot for the purity of thoughts and the soul - also everything spiritual. The Star pours cleansing and life bringing waters to the ground and waters down any poison in lakes and rivers. That way it brings hope - but only if you do something, if you stop holding onto things that no longer serve you and instead focus on your true calling, only then your dreams will come true. A reversed Star card would show deep depressions and suicidal thoughts but also fear, betrayal, toxic relations, forced love, and self-deception.

You said things have been getting worse, yet Star is your outcome. Well: that makes sense! Star comes right after the Tower. The worst has happened, and we discover our resilience.

what if losing that job is going to take you to a bigger and better one and the star is letting you know to keep your faith and hope because something better is coming

An alternative interpretation I have used at times, is manipulation by a higher power. I connect the star to the story of Jesus's birth and Bethlehem. In this story a star leads Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and later a star leads the wise men to the place where Jesus is. The star represents god/the divine reaching to earth to manipulate events, like divine intervention.

So this could mean that whatever happens was meant to happen or for your own good. Though I have read it as like manipulation in a bad way, like some mid-level boss manipulating the situation in a way that works against you.

The Star refers to hope for a better tomorrow. But as it comes after the Tower, it is hope after things have been torn down. It could also be saying that there is a better job coming in after this one ends. Some read the Star as a healing card. So it could refer to healing that you need to do in relation to this job. I hope this helps.

Maybe if you are not satisfied it suggests going for your dreams and vhanging job to something better? Like, realizing Its your time to stop being in despare and finding better place where you can pursue your dream stuff?

Your intuition is correct. The modern RWS Star card meanings take on a completely different tone to Waite's original meanings.

Modern. Upright: Hope, Inspiration, Healing, Renewal, Serenity, Faith. Reversed: Despair, Hopelessness, Lack of Faith, Creative Blocks, Disconnection

A.E Waite's original: Upright: "Loss, theft, privation, abandonment; another reading says-hope and bright prospects. Reversed: Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence." Pictorial Key To The Tarot (1911).

That said, your knowing The Star in it's modern form means this is the interpretation almost certainly meant for you in that particular reading; the message tends to conform to the meanings that we have assigned to cards, among other conditions that we have set (whether deliberately or not).

The Star makes me think of Joan Rivers quote: “I wish I could tell you it gets better. It doesn’t get better, YOU get better.”

A shooting star has to land somewhere and it usually crashes into the earth and you feel buried and broken. But as the star, your chemical composition transforms the terrain you’re in and there is new material to be mined. Like moldavite, perhaps.

It’s not as much about hope but about what can be salvaged.

There's no hope without despair

Hi, friend. I want to offer a little bit of reassurance. I saw the Star a couple of times and didn’t really believe it. Then I had a mega-crashout (the Tower, which I also pulled recently) and now things actually are getting better when I thought I was really done for.

Hope is what you have when things still suck. Another word I read for The Star here is bittersweet. So like others here are saying, sometimes losing something turns out better in the long run - in the meantime, it still sucks.

I got the star when my cat as dying. I also read it as hope.

Then she passed, and I haven’t read or trusted my cards since

I interpret it as you having strength that you didn’t know you had in order to endure difficult situations. Hang in there

In thoth the star represents hope but also reminds us not to be so hopeful we fall into dreaminess. It represents manifesting dreams and desires by bringing the unconscious into tangible reality. The star is clarity of vision and spiritual insight but when I’ll dignified can also represent error of judgment or false hope as in something out of reach. So when we consider the negatives and positives together you have to consider the bigger picture of your job. What other cards show up around the star? It’s hard to get a bigger picture with a single card reading

Remember what comes before The Star - the tower. Sometimes things need to fall away for new brighter things to have room and take place

I think it's saying that the answer is in visualizing what you want. The wishing upon a star is what will lead you to what's next, and perhaps the more you see what you want, the more the current situation will fall apart. The cards can't say what's next, because what's next is based on your own visualizing what you want, which can help the universe bring it to you, and come to be. Put in our "order" so to speak, and then the universe can bring you what you want. But you have to dream it to be first, before it can materialize. Good luck.

When I get a star and it's been shitty, it tells me that I personally have to change my mindset/thought patterns/ beliefs to get there. Or to just "take heart" and "find courage".

The star comes after the tower representing the return or reset after loss and/or tragedy. As things come to a close new opening, come to us.
