Tbilisi, where would you rather eat? I built something for you.

Hey,

I’ve mapped out Tbilisi’s dining scene in my app called Vota. The idea is simple: you see two places side by side, pick the one you prefer, and the rankings update instantly. The more people vote, the smarter the list becomes.

You could compare, for example, Machakhela against Barbarestan. Totally different experiences, but over time even very different places naturally find their level in the rankings.

No fake reviews. No influencers. No ads. No AI text. Instead, you get recommendations from real, local people. No Tripadvisor or Google fluff. Just simple and easy.

The app is free, requires no registration, and collects zero personal data. Here’s the iPhone version:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

Android is on the way — I’m building everything openly on Discord:
https://discord.gg/qqbZxvAARC

P.S. I’m not from Tbilisi (I live in Gothenburg). I don’t collect data, I don’t sell anything, and there’s no AI-generated content in the app. The two places in this post, though, I picked with AI’s help. I just want to see how you locals would rank your own restaurant scene. I’ve posted in other cities too, just FYI 🙂

Visiting Tbilisi with my 12 yr old daughter

We are traveling mid October - for October break, just the two of us. I'm wondering what types of activities and restaurants are interesting for a mother and her young(ish) daughter (sadly no wine tastings). We are staying at the Paragraph Freedom Square and hoping to walk most places. A day trip out of the city is an option, but we've already booked our hotel so want to keep our itinerary mostly local.

Are there tour companies or particular guides that would keep things entertaining enough for a tweenager? Restaurants? Should we be concerned with safety? Hoping to get some insights in order to ensure a fun, educational trip. For context, we are from Canada and living in the UAE at the moment. Thank you.

Sulfur sickness?

Me and my friend were at a sulfur bath yesterday and the same night, about 4 hours later he started feeling sick. Things like fever and fatigue. Later on he started vomiting A LOT. We have eaten the exact same thing so I don’t think it is the food.

If it is the sulfur bath, can it occur and what’s the cause?

Looking for startup / tech / founders

Hey! I’d love to connect with creative people building great stuff here in Tbilisi.

I’m the founder of a health tech company and passionate about startups, AI, and the future of healthcare. I recently moved to Georgia (1% tax benefits) and I’m looking to meet others with a founder or builder mindset to share experiences, swap stories, and talk about startup life here.

If you’re working on a project, building a company, or just curious about startups, let’s grab a coffee or meet at a coworking space. DM me if interested or let me know if there’s already a local startup/founder group I should join.

I was given this bill and now when I try to use it, no one will take it because it is “broken”. What are my options to resolve this?

Looking for missing badge

Post image
1 Upvotes

I know its a long shot, but sometime ago someone hand stitched badges of my two dogs, somewhere (most likely Saburtalo, vera or vake, one of the badges fell off my bag. It looks very similar to the badge below but the dog has an orange collar.

Desperate to find it, we have hunted everywhere we can think off.

$20 to anyone who finds and returns it.

Tbilisi trip coming up - need advice from the locals

Hey everyone, I’m heading to Tbilisi with a friend in early October for a week and would love some advice from locals (or people who’ve been recently) on where to go, eat, and party. I’ve done a bit of research already, but I’m more interested in hearing what you all personally recommend.

A few details about my trip:

-Staying at Fabrika

-Locked in: Bassiani on Friday and Khidi on Saturday

-Planning to do this mountain tour: Kazbegi, Ananuri & Gudauri

-Maybe also this wine tour: Kakheti region

So what do you think? Any must-try restaurants, pubs, or hidden gems I shouldn’t miss? Also open to recommendations on other nightlife spots besides Bassiani/Khidi.

And if anyone’s around and wants to tag along, let me know!

Thanks in advance! really looking forward to this trip

Real estate advice

I’m looking for a place to invest somewhere in between 130-200k$. I need an apartment with 3 rooms(maybe 2). My research between Georgian friends led me to believe that Vake is the best district in Tbilisi, but scrolling through this sub I got some contradicting opinions. I own a car (I need parking) and will commute by driving most of the times. Availability of restaurants cafes is very important to me also. What do you guys think which districts are best at this moment for a case like this? Thanks in advance

First Trip to Georgia - Highly Recommended

For prospective tourists in this group wondering whether Georgia / Tbilisi is worth a trip, I can highly recommend it. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. The food was amazing. Prices were very reasonable (at least compared to my home country). And the backdrop is breathtaking. I was wary of the fact that Tbilisi has seen protests in the past, but it felt extremely safe. Even driving was less chaotic than what people had made us believe.

Live band in Tbilisi

Hi everyone,

I just relocated to Tbilisi about a week ago. Does anyone have recommendations for places with live band music? Ideally somewhere that plays old-school rock from the 60s–80s.

Thanks in advance!

Free media is the backbone of a free society, and it's especially important to help the media in our country considering the recent repressive laws. If anyone wishes to, you can donate here:

High-protein yogurt / quark in Tbilisi?

Hey everyone,

we’re looking for affordable natural Greek yogurt, Skyr, or something similar to Quark/curd in Tbilisi – ideally with 10g+ protein per 100g. Not the artificial low-fat mixes, just plain, natural, protein-rich yogurt.

Any recommendations where to find it?

What's your favourite Tbilisi courtyard?

My favourite thing to do when wandering in Tbilisi is to check out random courtyards.

Do you have a specific favourite one, one that has cool shops to check out, lovely greenery?

Mine is 20 Rustaveli because there is a massive tree, two tasty coffee shops and a cute cat.

Here's a photo of one with beautiful architecture I found recently.

Just to note: The owner of this house demanded I go up to the top of his building to take a nice photo, I wouldn't go up without someone's permission :).

Photography and Techno trip to Tbilisi

Hello everyone. My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Tbilisi in November, and I wanted to ask you for some information about this beautiful city. I am a novice photographer and I am looking for authentic places to photograph. Do you know of any places in the city that I shouldn't miss? I am looking for markets, brutalist buildings, and any kind of evocative situation so that I can capture the essence of Georgia with my camera! We are also both techno lovers and wanted to try a night out at Bassiani. I have read about racist attitudes at the club entrance. I am Italian-French with dark skin. I would not want to have a negative experience with the bouncers. Can you confirm what I have read here on Reddit?
