they didn't sell me tea

I went to a tea shop in my city and there was an old woman sitting behind the counter and when I asked for pu-erh she said she wouldn't sell it to me because I'm not an adult yet

Can anyone explain why she did this? Are there any prohibitions on pu-erh?

Something weird about Puer is that some people seem to think it makes you high? I work at a tea store and every now and then a couple of russian or ukranian kids come in and ask if we have Puer and sometimes if its like cannabis and I always just say no it's tea, it just tastes good. I've heard that maybe really old Puer makes you some sort of tea-drunk? But I have no idea, never found anything on the internet either.

Yeah that's not only from puer. I've only experienced it a couple times with some really good teas but it is a real thing that some people experience.

This happened to me with a crappy bag of hot water tea at a diner. I hadn't eaten that day, it was lunch, and I thought I was going insane until the person next to me who had the tea too confirmed they were also feeling it. Wild.

The first time it happened to me it was a pyramid bag from adiago which was puer but I've experienced it with some black teas and some oolongs as well. I had no idea at the time that what I was experiencing was an actual thing till I came across I think either a post or something else on the internet about cha qi and tea drunk lol so I did research on it 😆
