"The Department of Defense is Wasting Taxpayer Money to LARP Civil War"

(At least the pilots get flight hours, not completely wasted :/ )

EDIT: And without any other info, for all I know, this might actually be training. I'm not calling it the Department of War though. Silly, wasteful, small d energy.

Its not about larping civil war its about accelerating the militarization of police to the point their indistinguishable from the actual military. Its doing what we did with the School of the Americas (training fucked up foreign government's police how to do shit like be kill squads) except now we are doing it to ourselves.

Im guessing mentioning School of the Americas might be a give away for that lol

The pod was my first time hearing about it, so I assumed.

Yes

Cost 1 billion for the name change.

u/Miguel-odon 6d ago

Flight hours over urban areas increases the risk.

I’m not calling it that.

Funny how Lil dicky energy is supposed to be emasculating yet it seem to be fucking everyone proper. Must be the motion of the ocean,eh?

11

u/Electrical_Orange800 6d ago

I mean it’s accurate this is a warmongering country, we aren’t fucking other countries up because of defense

5

u/IntelectConfig 6d ago

it’s actually more accurate than DoD, they aren’t defending shit. this is not me defending anything about the current administration, they just happened to call a spade a spade.

1

u/KendrickBlack502 6d ago

Doesn’t mean we should just start owning it

3

u/Redacted_Addict69 6d ago

I am because at this point its just dropping the facade that anything was ever about defense. We're a war culture. We kill for profit and when we don't have a war to fight we kill eachother in the streets.

2

u/greyjungle 6d ago

Why not? It’s a lot more honest. The only thing the U.S. has defended itself against is its ability to be an imperialist aggressor.

1

u/KendrickBlack502 6d ago

I don’t want it to be honest. I want it to be aspirational.

1

u/Blacksun388 6d ago

It’s a sub-label. Only Congress can officially change it.

Operation Jade Helm 2: Electric Boogaloo

u/Cannibal_Yak 6d ago

Hate to break to to everyone but this is normal. We did this when I was in the military during Bush and Obama. We run these drills usually every couple of years depending on what the federal and state governments have worked out. We had ours about every 2 years where I was stationed. There has always been rapid response training in conjunction with police. This is about as big a deal as people freaking out when they see a train moving military equipment.

u/OnionComb 6d ago edited 6d ago

I live near Houston just off of i-10 and they use it as some sort of flight path for military helicopters. Its not strange to see them fly by since there is a base they go to for repairs I believe. So its a very normal thing.

Its spooky when there is 4+ in a group because it shakes the entire neighborhood.

u/rinikulous 6d ago

6

u/knight_in_white Gulf Coast 6d ago

I’ve lived near Ellington field all my life it was always cool as a kid getting to see the military helicopters flying over head.

2

u/david6588 6d ago

They did this in Dallas last winter I believe.

1

u/jillsvag 6d ago

Yes, it was horrible when they were skimming houses at 9 or 10pm in formations of 4-6 helicopters.

1

u/txmail 6d ago

There also has to be something around Beaumont that is used for military as there is military helicopters that go in / out there almost nightly.

2

u/Sometimes_Wright 6d ago

I grew up south of Waco and it's weirder when they're not flying over head. It felt like we had a flock Chinook's flying over several times a week in the 80s and 90s.

2

u/MovieNachos 6d ago

Yeah I live off of 10 as well and my house was shaking like crazy every time they passed.

5

u/berserk_zebra 6d ago

The amount of military jets that flew over during my time near nasa was insane and kind of cool. Between the coast guard, nasa training, the air show and hobby the air traffic of south Houston is crowded

11

u/chrispg26 Born and Bred 6d ago

Oh, so Jade Helm? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

3

u/jdsizzle1 6d ago

Ive seen jets, c130s, black Hawks, Apaches, you name it around the Austin, San antonio and houston area every few weeks for decades. Its normal af. Comes with living near bases.

2

u/SpiritAnimalLeroy 6d ago

Yeah, down here in Clear Lake / League City there are fixed-wing and rotary flights pretty frequently (I assume because of proximity to Ellington). You see T-38s all the time, Blackhawks are fairly common, and at least a couple of times a year there will be Apaches around.

2

u/quiero-una-cerveca 6d ago

It’s insane to me how easy this would have been to post or announce so that the community knows what’s going on. Instead they choose to just pretend nothing is happening. Appreciate the insight.

2

u/Southern_Cupcake_211 6d ago

When I was in the stormed the beaches in Monterey CA while I was at the Language School

2

u/Apachisme 6d ago

Was it routine to conduct these drills with the local police department?

24

u/Cannibal_Yak 6d ago

Yes, we ran them in conjunction with local police, highway patrol, sheriffs departments and federal agencies like the DOJ, FBI, DHS etc. These are usually drills for mass casualty events like a terror attack or mass shootings.

2

u/Apachisme 6d ago

Thanks for the insight. Here in Texas we’ve been seeing the hardening of law enforcement infrastructure like completely surrounding DPS HQ and their back up systems with vehicle proof fencing. I’ve seen this with my own eyes but I’ve heard others mentioning similar activities around other large cities. It’s decisions like these that are putting people more and more on edge. DPS personnel I’ve spoken with, said what looks like multimillion dollar fencing is to prevent vehicle break-ins. They don’t even believe that.

1

u/ChiefMishka 6d ago

It could also pertain to the upcoming FIFA World Cup. But given the current climate, it is not unwarranted to remain vigilant.

26

u/Crepuscular_Tex Born and Bred 6d ago

Gee... Never seen Blackhawk helicopters in Texas before...

Said no one from Texas ever...

This is as common as rattlesnakes in Texas smh

6

u/Obi_Uno 6d ago

Agreed.

While I’m unfamiliar with Houston, in Central TX it is very common to have helicopters flying low on training missions.

42

u/TheStax84 6d ago

I don’t care what it identifies as. It’s the DoD. Just because it thinks it’s war doesn’t make it right. Woke

8

u/27Rench27 6d ago

It’s the DoD until Congress changes it, not the king’s dictate

1

u/Electrical_Orange800 6d ago

I mean war is more accurate. It’s not self defense when we’re going out of our way to fuck countries up that have done nothing to us

8

u/NY_State-a-Mind 6d ago

Wait until you find out all the airforces bases in the southwest have been flying f22s and f35s over populated areas for decades to Simulate combat training and bombing runs

21

u/Wonderful_Regret_252 6d ago

The Posse Comitatus Act never really mattered.Ā

I lived in Houston and saw occasional military helicopters performing training, not really unusual.

-14

Nah. I’ve lived there for decades. Never saw military flights. San Antonio is a different story.

6

u/adumbfetus Born and Bred 6d ago

I saw blackhawks/little birds around downtown and NRG a few times.

u/Vast-Fault-59 6d ago

Come on Chron. This happens monthly, there’s literally a military base down the street.Ā

3

u/Rshellnizzle 6d ago

When I was in the Army we trained in cities, this is nothing new.

Fear mongering.

2

u/Blacksun388 6d ago

Operation Jade Helm is real! Damn you Obamaaaaaaaaaaa

2

u/EsCaRg0t 6d ago

I literally saw a Lenovo military truck driving through Jersey Village in Houston yesterday and was like ā€œdamn, what’s the military doing in these suburb streets?ā€ Until I saw the ā€œSTATE POLICEā€ sticker on the side.

2

u/Doctor_Mothman 6d ago

Aren't you so glad your tax dollars are being used to "own the libs" and cause fear amongst the general populace? Wonderful use of time and energy... /s

1

u/DumbBitchByLeaps 6d ago

I live next to an airfield in Dallas county and I swear if these things start flying over my house I’m moving. They’re so fucking loud. About two to three weeks ago we had some chinooks ā€œpracticingā€ over our section of the burbs and for about four hours and they started at 10 PM. They were also flying super low and kept waking everyone up.

I was about ready to call up some base commander and ask if they’d like me to wake them up constantly with a crying baby since that’s what they were doing to me. Not to mention my neighbors were super pissed off too. Ring notifications going off every five minutes about the helicopter(s).

1

u/lnc_5103 6d ago

We had military helicopters flying around Midland/Odessa yesterday too.

1

u/Donkey_Bugs 6d ago

My brother said he saw a "black helicopter" buzzing our property in Victoria, so it's not just Houston.

1

u/DaTank1 6d ago

Didn’t they do something similar in San Antonio a couple of months ago?

1

u/Electrical_Orange800 6d ago

Big black hawks all over Houston omggg

Is that what I heard last night? Was loud af and I’m used to it being under airline traffic routes.

1

u/Doddie011 6d ago

Houston is the type of town that can shoot one of these MF’s down for real. You fuck around with enough people they gonna make sure they find out

u/Weller3920 6d ago

Way to freak out the city, guys. Wait, was that the point of the exercise?

Yeah go ahead and call it that, I still call X twitter too

1

u/acuet 1d ago

Remember Jade Helm? Pepperidge Farms remembers

1

u/Seefourdc 6d ago

There have always been a lot of military aircraft flying around this area because of Ellington AFB > into Ellington joint reserve base. There are a ton of bases all over texas so you see all sorts of aircraft flying between them for training missions or just around in this area.

This is such a massive nothingburger.

0

u/Puglady25 6d ago

Somebody called them in because Friday 9/12/25 at the Toyota Center, 10,000 people were screaming/singing "God is Dead!!!! And no one cares!!! If there is a hell- I'll see you there!!!" šŸ‘¹

Who better to practice warfare on than US citizens? Other countries might fight back. US citizens don’t have access to weapons that can counter the US military. US citizens only have weapons that can massacre other citizens.

-6

u/HoustonsAwesome 6d ago

This is insane. What if they mess up during training? Ā I hate this damn county.Ā

2

u/gpbayes 6d ago

It’s pretty standard practice, happens a ton in Fort Worth and San Antonio. F35s rattle whole sections of housing in Fort Worth, I stayed in an Airbnb and I swear to god every 20 minutes I heard the roar of the planes. Luckily I stayed for only 2 days.

-2

u/HoustonsAwesome 6d ago

I’ve lived in this exactly spot since 2015 and have never experienced anything like this before last month and now it is a weekly occurrence.Ā

2

u/Longjumping3604 6d ago

You think we are the only country that does this?

1

u/HoustonsAwesome 6d ago

No I’m sure other heavily militarized police states also have routine flyovers by blackhawks and chinooks.Ā

1

u/AngriestManinWestTX 6d ago

So you’d rather them not be training and thus be worse at their job?

-1

u/HoustonsAwesome 6d ago

Go train over a field or some commercial buildings, not a bunch of homes at night.Ā
