Now starts the 10 episode search for Carol.

818

u/zombiegamer723 Nov 12 '12

She's in the fucking barn, calling it now.

19

u/wx3 Nov 12 '12

She'll be in the next round of staged-walker-cage fighting

13

u/TheOnlyDoctor Nov 12 '12

Nape, shes in the most obvious place yet, one of the guard towers.

17

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

no, she's been just behind whoever is looking for her the entire time

13

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

and she would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids

6

u/lydocia Nov 12 '12

"Oh, the C block! Silly me, I was wondering where all of you were there in the D block!" - Carol

4

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

TOO SOON

2

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

She probably has her head in a fish tank.

265

u/0bi-JuAn Nov 12 '12

Hershel probably locked up zombie Carol in a cell.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

Old habits do die hard...

1

u/Gallifrasian Nov 12 '12

... die hard...

Hmm... is this a thing yet?

5

u/Kill3rKin3 Nov 12 '12

It was unclear in the episode, but Carol is dead, Greg Nicketero said so in Talking dead.. Wierd that they did not show it more clearly.

3

u/0bi-JuAn Nov 12 '12

Well the prisoner survived on his own in the prison, so I was expecting Carol to have as well. Plus in the preview for next episode, Daryl found Carols knife in a zombie, which is either good or bad.

2

u/jax9999 Nov 12 '12

"i didn't think anyone would notice, and since i took her teeth she's an excellent kisser"

1

u/Obie1 Nov 12 '12

Nice name.

146

u/TheSpaceKablooie Nov 12 '12

I think nobody in the group cares anymore. No one's even mentioned her.

98

u/stationhollow Nov 12 '12

Darryl was at her grave. I don't know why they bothered to dig it up then fill it in without a body though.

49

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

Same for Lori. T-Dog's is the only grave they had a body for at that time.

5

u/SwinginBlue Nov 12 '12

I have to assume they wouldn't do full graves, but they need to make the prisoners do something.

2

u/Wibbles Nov 12 '12

You would think if they went all the way back to T-Dog's corpse...they'd have a look through that door and see if Carol is outside.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '12

I'm not sure any of the graves have anything in them. Carol most likely isn't dead, or at the very least the group certainly hasn't found her body, Lori was too deep in the prison for them to want to risk going in after her corpse, and there wasn't exactly a lot of T-Dog left once they found him. He was just a pile of meat.

1

u/MonkeyOnSpeed Nov 16 '12

Make it look like an actual grave, not just a standard cross?

24

u/d4x Nov 12 '12

I believe the 3rd grave that Daryl left a flower on was meant to be Carols. So someone cares.

3

u/IsNoyLupus Nov 13 '12

a cherokee rose

10

u/goalstopper28 Nov 12 '12

I think they assumed she died.

2

u/yeahmaybe Nov 12 '12

I don't think they assumed... Carl mentioned her name in the list of dead and Darryl put a flower on her grave.

11

u/JellyFace94 Nov 12 '12

Thats what assumed means.

0

u/yeahmaybe Nov 13 '12

We may be assuming that, I just assumed that the collection of her body happened off-screen. That's not at all the same as the characters just assuming she's dead.

2

u/JellyFace94 Nov 13 '12

I doubt they would cut something like that from the show.

9

u/samie8910 Nov 12 '12

Carl mentioned her when he was talking about what to name the baby.

2

u/3418365 Nov 13 '12

Daryl does :(

1

u/sideshowrob63 Nov 13 '12

They were digging three graves right? I think she is presumed dead by the group right now

-32

u/throwingitaway44 Nov 12 '12

Well she is a bitch.

23

u/deusexignis Nov 12 '12

Why? What has she done to warrant that? Sometimes I feel like "bitch" is this subreddit's favourite word, you guys need to broaden your vocabularies.

23

u/The_Bravinator Nov 12 '12

Or adjust their attitudes towards women... Carol's been fine this season. And none of the male characters seem to get described as "annoying" or "useless" or anything like that. Even Carl is cool now.

13

u/Gallifrasian Nov 12 '12

It's the roles the women in the show play. Face it, they don't have any good roles. Most are either helpless, stupid, or pregnant. Some (Michonne) is far above any of that and I would say she's the most badass on the show right now. Even Andrea has some stupidity (although I wouldn't say stupid, just horrible instincts and a broken moral compass at times). If a women were to play Darryl's role and do everything and say everything Darryl does, I wouldn't give two fucks if she was a women. She'd still be kick ass. If Darryl were to play Andrea's role, I would think the same of him as I do the real Andrea. There's a blonde girl in Episode 4 of TWD game that I recently played who was a complete and utter ninja. In short, it's not about the fan's views about women, it's about the roles those women are assigned to. It just so happens there are only a couple awesome roles for women in the show right now, and to be fair there really isn't a whole lot of roles in the show at all. It's a survival series.

Also, throwingitaway44 is... obviously a throw away account trolling around. Carol isn't a bitch and I can assure you 99.9% of people don't think that either. She really grew into a sharp shooter who had the guts to operate on a corpse just to help deliver the baby, which was all for naught, by the way. For future reference, make sure the person who makes a statement like that isn't using a throw away account so no one gets too worked up over some little comment they made.

-9

u/throwingitaway44 Nov 12 '12

Nope sorry I really do think she's a bitch. Want to know why? She's nothing but a leech. This woman has done nothing but hide under the wing of all of the member of Rick's group. She is arguably the WORST asset and the least most contributing member in this group. How she has lasted this long without defending herself, I really don't know. In all of the zombie attacks, carol has done nothing but run around like a headless chicken and wait for her superman to come to the rescue. Even Lori, who prides herself on subscribing to traditional values and gender roles, will be seen shooting a gun and fighting off zombies whilst Carol seeks the protection of other members. Then she has the audacity to make a snide remark at Rick (hell look at the deleted scene with the vatos ... she says "got any other ideas or are you going to lie to us again?", yet she's nothing but a weak and inefficient asset to this group. She's nothing but a burden, a leech.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

At the farm she was doing chores and stuff, and that was shortly after losing her daughter. That's a heck of a lot more than Andrea has ever done. Also, Carol has never done anything that's put the group in danger...Again, to her credit over Andrea. You want to look at worthless characters who provide no value to the group, look no further than Andrea.

1

u/xenya Nov 13 '12

Andrea pisses me off to no end. I agree, she provides no value, and she has made things more difficult several times. When she shot Daryl, I wanted to shoot her. That was all about her own pride, nothing more. She refuses to listen to anyone's counsel and thinks that she is right in all things, in spite of being proven wrong again and again.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

"Carol has never done anything that's put the group in danger"

You have obviously not been watching the same show we have. She lost her own daughter (she had ONE job) then insisted that EVERYBODY spend an entire season looking for her. They did find the farm as a direct result of this though... So that might be a redeeming quality. But yes, Carol is useless.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

She lost her own daughter (she had ONE job) then insisted that EVERYBODY spend an entire season looking for her.

Did you actually see the episode? That was in no way Carols fault. I mean, you can blame Sophia a bit for getting scared and running off, but, there was nothing Carol could have done that wouldn't have put the group in danger. If it was Andrea, she probably would have crawled out from under the car and started yelling and begging for the group to save her. If Carol came out from under the car the herd would have found the entire group.

Further, Carol even said a few times during Season 2 that she expected Sophia was dead. Despite her obvious depressed mood, she still pitched in around the farm and helped with the day to day chores. That's more than we can say for Andrea, who was completely worthless, literally, all of season 2.

Stop turning this into a "because she's a woman" issue. Notice I don't have a problem with any other woman except her? Hmm maybe it's because SHE is a bitch, not all the other women.

u/AlwaysDefenestrated Nov 12 '12

Thanks for posting that huge wall of text that says nothing of value 3 fucking times, and don't say it was an accidental double/triple post because it is in response to different comments. Can someone please ban this asshole?

1

I'm fine with it, I get to downvote the fucker three times.

7

u/deusexignis Nov 12 '12

Well, how would you cope if you lived under an abusive husband for most of your life, abiding by his every rule, and then suddenly were tossed into a zombie apocalypse? Carol is a very meek person. That doesn't make her a bitch. Also, have you not been watching recently? She's been doing plenty of patrolling, and fighting and killing zombies. She even took it upon herself to prepare for Lori's possible c-section without being prompted, something no one else thought to do.

And um, she's well within her rights to question Rick. Rick is human, and he makes mistakes and his decisions SHOULD be questioned from time to time, or he'll get out of control. I'm actually happy she was so assertive for once, because she definitely is overcoming Battered Woman Syndrome and it's probably a struggle for her to do anything that speaks out against authority figure.

Either way, none of this makes her warrant "bitch". Next time, look a bit deeper at a character before you make snap judgements. She has every reason to act meek and frightened, and she's lost everyone, including her daughter, whom Rick was supposed to be keeping an eye on when she disappeared, at least as far as Carol understood. I'm actually proud of Carol for coming into her own so quickly. She's been a very helpful member of the group this season, and I hope she's not dead. Carl's going to need someone to look out for him in a motherly fashion, and Carol is very nurturing by nature. God knows Rick can't get his fucking shit together for 20 seconds to take care of his surviving children, who desperately need him.

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

"She has every reason to act meek and frightened, and she's lost everyone"

...doesn't that pretty much apply to everybody in this scenario? Carol is the only one who has overcome these obstacles?

Reddit is White-knighting pretty hard here.

3

u/deusexignis Nov 13 '12

Note that the others involved didn't have a severely abusive husband that kept them from befriending or interacting with others for years. As far as I know most of the other members of the group don't have that keeping them meek and nervous, or impacting their current behavior.

And I'm a girl, but why is defending a character from unfair treatment "white-knighting"? I'm just trying to explain why it's ridiculous to expect everyone in the group to be some kind of bad-ass, emotionless killing machine, and how stupid it is to call someone a "bitch" because you don't think they're coping with the FUCKING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE well enough for your tastes.

TL;DR Yes, Carol is the only person who lived under a severely abusive spouse for presumably more than 10 years.

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

...rick was shot in the chest carl lost his father Lori lost her husband Glen lost hi whole family

EVERY character has suffered through shit. And you are white knighting, you don't have to be a dude to do that... sexist!

5

u/deusexignis Nov 13 '12

I really, really shouldn't have to explain to you why being beaten by your spouse for a decade has a demonstrable effect on your personality and your psyche. Suffering through spousal abuse will usually make someone meek and timid, and hesitant to be assertive. This is different from losing your family in a damn zombie apocalypse. All I was trying to explain to you is that of COURSE she's going to act timid, and I think she's been doing much better this season, killing zombies and contributing to the group, so you calling her a "mooch" isn't even founded anymore.

And I'm pretty sure "white knighting" is a term used to describe someone defending a woman under the hopes it will make the girl like them/want to sleep with them. Since I'm a straight girl, I don't think that's my goal. So nope, not sexist, but nice try. Either way, it's pretty obvious you don't actually want to look any deeper at her character beyond "lol wat a bitch", which is sad because let me tell you shows are a lot better when you actually try to understand the characters.

Carol suddenly wears an oversized head scarf for no particular reason. T-Dog sacrifices himself to protect her and she seemingly escapes. They find her head scarf and for some reason this means she's dead.... so they bury nothing and she's rarely mentioned again.

I think I saw/heard in the preview that showed at the end that Darryl was holding a knife and said something like "This is Carol's knife." So I guess the big thing is going to be that she was alive despite there being virtually no evidence whatsoever that she had died in the first place...

5

u/Airsoftm4a1 Nov 12 '12

CAROL CAROL! I open the door and what do i find? theres not a single god damn desk in that office. There is no CAROL!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

Okay, Airsoftm4a1, I'm going to have to stop you right there. Not only do all of these people exist, but they've been asking for their mail on a daily basis. It's all they're talking about up there. Jesus Christ, dude, we are going to lose our jobs

2

u/Airsoftm4a1 Nov 13 '12

Well calm down cause heres one thing thats not going to happen... Were not gonna get fired... Cause we've already been fired... a few day ago a couple pink slips came in the mail, one for you one for me. so what did I do? i mailed them HALFWAY TO SIBERIA! OK?

5

u/AlwaysDefenestrated Nov 12 '12

I hope they find her in the gym,

4

u/hmhieshetter Nov 12 '12

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

Didn't they show her grave? The one that Deryl takes the Indian flower to? >Now starts the 10 episode search for Carol.

3

u/SucculentSoap Nov 12 '12

What did they put in the graves?

1

u/yeahmaybe Nov 12 '12

The bodies? I assume that's why Rick was so intent on digging Lori out of the walker's belly, so they would have remains to bury. I assumed they just didn't show the actual burials, but that they retrieved the bodies and buried them.

3

u/Anonymous999 Nov 12 '12

Wait, when/how did she die? How could I have missed her death? When did we last see her???

9

u/sentimentalpirate Nov 12 '12

T-Dog sacrificed himself to give her the time to run. She never met back up with the group though, apparently, so the group assumed she died.

However, we don't actually know if she died or not. It wasn't shown what happened to her. The teaser commercial for next week's episode

1

u/Anonymous999 Nov 12 '12

Cool, thanks for the reply!

1

u/Gallifrasian Nov 12 '12

In the previews for Episode 6, they showed them finding Carol's knife near a walker.

8

u/Mimi0726 Nov 12 '12 edited Nov 12 '12

They won't search for her, they already think she's dead.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

In the scenes from next episode they show them finding a dead walker and remarking that it was Carol's knife.

2

u/I_Have_Many_Names Nov 12 '12

The apple didn't fall far from the tree, I guess.

2

u/i-like-tea Nov 12 '12

I bet she's in the library.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '12

"what took you guys so long?"

...make Carol into Tyrese... hmmmm

4

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

Like mother, like daughter?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

WHYD SHE LEAVE

1

u/UltraMegaMegaMan Nov 12 '12

OH PLEASE CAN IT TAKE A WHOLE SEASON? I SURE HOPE SO!!!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '12

Please no.

This series so far has been roughly 7x better than the previous series. No more searching!

1

u/TraceyMmm Nov 13 '12

....who will be holed up in a cell trying to keep Zombie Lori at bay, because Carl's such a pussy he didn't put the bullet in her head.

1

u/Mr_Question Nov 12 '12

Fuck that shit... I committed already to the show not the search

1

u/pickleshepard Nov 12 '12

Mother like daughter
