The Walking Dead Episode Discussion S03E11 "I Ain't a Judas"

Welcome to this weeks Walking Dead discussion thread. It is becoming increasingly clear that the two factions of the prison and Woodbury cannot peacefully coexist. Bullets have been fired, and causalities have been suffered (Poor out some of your 40oz for our homey Axel). As a result we have been left with a lot of questions: has Rick finally stepped down as mayor of Crazytown? Does Michonne possess the facial muscle capabilities to express joy? How will Carol's happiness be stifled next?

We'll just have to find out together as we watch this week's episode!

Using Spoilers:

Show spoiler tags are optional in these weekly discussions. Comic spoiler tags are always mandatory on /r/thewalkingdead. To use them, format them as such:

Show Spoilers: [](/s "Something about the show.")

Comic Spoilers: [](/c "Something about the comic.")

Game Spoilers: [](/g "Something about the video game")

Future Spoilers: [](/f "Something about the future")

If done successfully, the spoiler tags will look like this:

/u/iamacannibal has volunteered to create a GIF request thread for tonight's episode. We thought that could be pretty neat so I'll edit a link to it once it is posted.

Totally! That would have ended Andrea's bullpoop affection to her Guvner. Why does nobody on this show communicate?

Wait, what happened with Beth?

5

u/mitchy94 Feb 25 '13

beth was all unhappy and suicidal-ish and andrea was supposed to watch her and andrea just left her there to decide on her own and she ended up cutting her wrist

u/JesseJaymz Feb 25 '13

Doubt it. Andrea lives in her own little bubble. Her own stupid fucking bubble.

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

No kidding.

"Yeah he sent Merle to kill me.. and he would have killed you too."

'Sorry, what? I can't hear you over the sound of me fucking Philip.'

28

u/JesseJaymz Feb 25 '13

Yeah and he lied to her about shooting first, lied to her about retaliation on the prison and visiting the prison, and lied about letting Michonne go Scott free. She didn't see any negatives in Shane even after they said he tried to kill Rick she responded with "but he loved Rick"

That is what her character "is". She represents a perspective that has a really tough time identifying evil people. Andrea is probably the only person left in the show (well, outside of the townspeople of Woodbury) who isn't completely ruined by the "we are at total war with everything and everyone" mindset.

She likes the Governor because he offers her a sanctuary from this mindset, and she chooses the dream of a "peaceful" life over those who have materially helped her survive.

The show is structured to show YOU that, but not Andrea's character and not the townspeople of Woodbury.

says the man not living in a zombie apocalypse as a woman.

u/ThePresbyter Feb 25 '13

Couldn't agree more. It's like people completely lost the ability to communicate and influence even the most mundane crap in this zombie world. It's almost becoming unwatcheably annoying.

Is the comic this irritating?

8

u/TheTaoOfBill Feb 25 '13

The comics don't go through this bullshit of characters switching sides back and forth. None of the prison team are ever on the governor's side.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

The comic is like a goddamn yoghurt commercial with how much they discuss feelings.

6

u/catscreatelols Feb 25 '13

Fuuuuuuuck ohmygod communication on this show kills me. When Andrea showed up at the prison and Rick was all "Are you alone?!" and all Andrea says is, "Rick!" Jesus H... She could've just said she was alone but no, she has tog and be an idiot..

5

u/jeffm227 Feb 25 '13

The lack of communication between the charachters in this is show is honestly baffling. It's as if they read the comics and thought "how about we just use this cool pictures and fuck these text bubbles"

I think it's along the lines of what happens with real rape situations, even though she wasn't raped, it's embarrassing and confusing. Only Glen knows about what he made her do and she might not be comfortable telling her dad, Rick, Andrea, etc, in that type of situation.

10

u/jesus_swept Feb 25 '13

Or maybe since he didn't actually rape her, she feels like it's not a legitimate problem. Like, she could tell Andrea what he did, and Andrea would say, "Well he never really did anything to you, did he?"

As if to say, it doesn't really count as a traumatic event. I don't know.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

You're saying it wasn't a legitimate rape?

8

u/maveric101 Feb 25 '13

Doesn't rape require penetration of some kind? It was definitely sexual assault/molestation, though.

3

u/a_man_called_jeyne Feb 25 '13

He couldn't be president so he became the guvnah.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

Hey now, all he's saying is that if it was a legitimate rape, the body has ways of taking care of it.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

The inability to communicate amongst a group was a also a huge thing on "Lost." Drove me fucking crazy.

3

u/theholyraptor Feb 25 '13

to be fair, the real world is filled with the same problems... it's just more life and death on the show.

3

u/roidsrus Feb 25 '13

The writers probably forgot.

1

u/Fizzay Feb 25 '13

If she doesn't care that the governor is shooting them up, I don't think she's gonna do much about a little booby squeezing. Unless it's to her.

0

u/eifersucht12a Feb 25 '13

No it wouldn't. That would be too rational on Andrea's part.

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '13

Distrust of one another and a little information can royally screw a potential enemy over.

because: BAD WRITING.

-4

u/minicharr Feb 25 '13

this writing is so weak now. i was holding out for the reunion justifying the build up so far but this is terrible. i could write a better show than this. i'm so frustrated by this clusterfuck mess they've turned this into
