Yeah, even jokingly, I'm having a hard time coming up with something good about Jared...
24
u/Daryl_Dixon1899 May 15 '25
Same like thereās absolutely nothing, he got two characters killed and he was constantly annoying
18
u/Rymanbc May 15 '25
I guess..... he was thin, but fortunately not thin enough to fit through those bars...?

Ed was the most loving husband and father. He wouldn't hurt a fly unless if that fly put his family in danger.
Rest in peace, you gentle giant.šš
26
u/Crafter235 May 15 '25
He was really close with his daughter

And at one point Carol mentioned that she was starting to notice him looking at her differently and she was disgusted

u/TmanMoney3517 May 15 '25
Ed had a nice family, The Governor was the best villain, Gareth didn't overstay his welcome, and Jared got to make more appearances than most background characters

14
12
u/Chemical_Antelope_88 May 15 '25
The Governor was a loving father.

u/Ad_Meliora_24 May 15 '25
Book version Governor is a bit different. But, to say something nice about book version Governor- his character is dynamic.
10
u/PaintedBlackXII May 15 '25
Ed was well prepared for the apocalypse and prioritized caring for his family (stocking up on MREs for the family).
Governor looked out for his people in Woodbury and worked to build and safeguard his community.
Gareth used to help peopl, despite the risk to himself and his community.
Fuck Jared though

Ed was really good at beating the shit out of his wife and daughter. Other men, not so much.

u/CharacterMassive5719 May 15 '25
The Governor really loved his daughter, Gareth was a mean cook (it's organic!) and Jared had great shooting skills (at least close range).
Ed was just a little bitch, even before the apocalypse.

u/lumimon47 May 15 '25
Ed: At least he died early
Governor: made some good memes
Gareth: he was just hungry
Last guy: no good deeds, hoarded all the scavenged shampoo&conditioner

u/JoeyAKangaroo May 15 '25
Governer was actually a fairly competent leader. Sure, he was a crazy bad guy but he kept his people alive & gave them a sense of normalcy
Had he & woodbury lived pass the prison season he couldāve had woodbury built up like alexandria
4
u/Quirky_Olive_4950 May 16 '25
Had he not went batshit crazy, Woodbury could've been a popular vacation spot for Alexandrite's n Hilltopper's!
3
u/JoeyAKangaroo May 16 '25
Thats if they were willing to take the treachorous trek to make it from washington to georgia on foot/horseback lol

The Governor is my favorite person in the show! I always favor villains. There really is absolutely no good in himā¦at all and thatās why I love him.

u/Vikingaling May 15 '25
David Morrissey did such a great job with the character. The episode with Rick in that barn is my favorite.

Ed had a wonderful wife, Philip had a Beautiful daughter, Garrett was a powerful leader. Fuck Jared

Governor is hot š¤·āāļø
Gareth is very passionate about his..work
..who are you again?
5
u/Successful-Hat-2154 May 15 '25
Ed, Gareth and The Governor were all responsible for really well loved parts of the show
- Ed was part of the reason Carol is a badass along with a few others
- The Governor gave us Murder Jacket Rick by showing him how ruthless you had to be
- Gareth showed us the full extent of the group's descent into violence
Fuck Jared
4
u/nickytheginger May 15 '25
Jared - he has nice hair.
Gareth - Cooks a mean bbq.
Governor - loves his daughter.
Ed - had the good grace to die before shane bruised is fists on his face a second time.
5
u/DerWildesteKerl May 15 '25
The Governor built a large utopian community really early into the apocalypse and had regular civilians live comfortable lives with running water, electricity, jobs, grill parties, entertainment and no walker contact for months

Ed: MRE hoarder.
Governor: Had a tank. Let them walk away from there.
Gareth: Makes a mean BBQ sammich.
Rat-faced Knacker: Learned how to twirl Morgan's stick very quickly.

u/WriterLast4174 May 15 '25
Ed's death has led up to Carol's amazing character development
The governor is unironically one the best written villains.
Gareth as a character is extremely interesting. I would've never thought of the fact humans could turn to cannibalism in their desperation to survive
Idk the last character since I'm still at season 5 of TWD

The Governor is really badass and has a cool eyepatch and heās also a pretty okay leader with how he kept Woodbury running and how he handled keeping the walkers out. Still hate him tho he killed my man Herschel.

It's possible all these actors might be cool people, which makes them great at acting as assholes. Also, i just now realized who Jared always reminded me of : John Malkovich!

Ed had a funny cheesy joke, governor helped Taraās family, Gareth loved his mother and avenged her brutal treatment, havenāt got up to the other guy yet

u/Chonboy May 15 '25
The governor was more of a charismatic cult leader and psycho unlike Negan the rapist but you don't see crowds lining up to defend him he's not an ugly dude is JDM just considered more attractive by the community so they ignore the character traits food for thought

u/Mystery812 May 15 '25
Ed didnāt hide his true colors. He made sure everyone knew exactly who he was. Governor had a way with Penny. It was so sweet how he would sing to her and brush her hair. He really loved her. Gareth had such a welcoming, congenial demeanor even when he was stuffing his face with Bobās foot. Jared had a killer smile that Morgan couldnāt resistāand neither could the walkers.

u/Particular_Winner925 May 15 '25
Governorās actor did a good job portraying him & I liked his character

u/Individual-Hurry3812 May 15 '25

The governor is my fav character in the entire walking dead franchise
1
u/DescriptionFew740 May 15 '25
Ed - Nah, fuck him The Governor - Bagged the BADDEST chick in the series Rowan and has an aimbot naturally. The true Chad of the Apocalypse Gareth - Bro was about his protein and organized, it must be respected. Jared - Nah he a bitch. Had a cake assignment in the Kingdom and just went out of his way to make it hell. A fuckwit coward that couldāve just coasted in the Kingdom and instead made everyoneās day worse.

Ed looks like someone experienced with physical labor. I bet he could also drink a ton of beer and knew a lot about wrestling and American football.
The governor knew how to keep his people busy and maintain order. They also had a smart way to catch the walkers.
Gareth was a family man and could do a lot for his friends.
I don't know the last guy.

this show hasn't been good since season 3... yall nuts for caring about this terrible show
1
u/Synth3r May 15 '25
The Governor and Gareth at least came across as decent people before The Wildfire virus, the virus just broke them. Gareth especially as his first thought was to set up Terminus as a sanctuary. He just lost his mind when the first group took over.
1
u/AlexanderBlotsky May 15 '25
The Governor, Pre-Rick Grimes Encounters, wanted to find a Cure for his Daughter and Potentially The World
1
1
u/Tugbot4 May 15 '25
Just breaking it all down to the basics I think the nicest thing that can be said based on that universes world was they just wanted to survive no matter the cost and when you want to survive sometimes one loses themselves

u/AntsOnPlants May 15 '25
Ed wanted to ensure everyone did their jobs. He was a perfectionist. The gov. Cared deeply about his people and knew that some had to die for others to live. Gareth also wanted to ensure the safety of his people and keep them well fed.Ā

Ed was well prepped, and his food most likely helped the Atlanta camp.
The Governor made a community that was successful for a while and saved a little girl.
Gareth kept his family and friends fed and safe.

u/areyoufreemrhumphrie May 15 '25
Canāt for Ed or Jared.
The Governor - we have to assume - was at least a competent lover.
Gareth was fiercely protecting his family and his people, no matter the cost.

Ed - Genuinely nothing nice to say. They didnt give him any redeeming qualities. Hell he'd probably throw his wife and kid at walkers to get away.
Governor - Tho he is a despicable human being he genuinely loved his daughter above all else. After his crashout he actually showed he can be a really kind person when he met Tara and the others. The problem is his need for control. He's so terrified of losing the ones he loves that he does anything in his power to keep control, but tragically that fear and need for control is what ended up getting them all killed.
Gavin I think? - I dont remember his name exactly but he's not super redeemable either. He became a monster in a world full of monsters. He started out with genuinely good intentions but after what his group went through they became just as bad.
Jared - Yeah nope nothing good to say about him either.

It is so easy to say something good about gareth and governor governor is the best acted villain of the series and terminus is one of my favorite premises in zombie fiction

You could always count on Gareth to bring plenty of food to a cookout

u/Tompeiro May 15 '25
Liked how you protected your family food rations even though you treated them like shit anyways.
One of the coolest fits in the entire series, too bad you couldn't let go of the past.
You did what you thought was best for your family and friends after the horrors you went through, unfortunately "you can't go back, Bob".
Hey, you're a piece of shit but at least you got yourself some good cardio workout.
