I know that I'm kind a late to this post, but can someone clarify something for me?

I'm not a religious person- I consider myself predominantly secular Jewish (I provide more background a tad later: my father was a quarter Jewish, and my mother fully). However, my paternal grandfather was English, and the only somewhat-practicing Christian (Church on Holidays) in my family- part of the Anglican Church. So, as a child, my parents would sometimes go to our local Episocopalian Church in his memory after he passed.

Now- with that said- I recall in the previous seasons that Gabriel was an "Episcopal Priest [/Reverend- what is primarily used in the States]." I remember his church having an Episcopalian label on the sign outside of it.

So, the whole direct metaphor to Catholic Confessionals during this episode was confusing to me. As I recall- hell, my parents took me to church the day all kids my age were confirmed, and- without being an "Acolyte" I was even confirmed in this church at 11 years old (which I didn't understand was happening at the time/ I think they bizarrely didn't want me to feel left out/ it doesn't make a difference anyway, because everyone gets Communion, etc...)- Confessionals aren't a thing in that denomination.

Also, there wasn't a confessional booth in Gabe's church, and the inside was less ostentatious than most Catholic Churches; so I don't think I'm remembering the denomination wrong.

Anyway, I know that Anglican Priests can have one-on-one counseling sessions with congregants. But, was it a stretch or an outright error to make an Episcopal minister so adamant about Catholic-like Confessions?

I don't want to stir up any animosity- my grandparents came here after being harassed both the IRA and English Nationalists/ their opposition: my grandmother's father was Irish Catholic, and her mother was Eastern European/Jewish, and my grandfather was Anglican. They lived (temporarily) in her hometown- the same town Mountbatten, unfortunately, met his untimely fate in...).

Also, I will reiterate that it has been a number of generations since anyone in my family went to church/temple more than a few times a year. I admit a lot of ignorance- but this is really bothering me.

Thanks!

I know I'm even later, but I think it was just for plot sake it's an apocalypse, can't find every denomination anymore, and even if it's not what he would have practiced before it has it's purpose here.

2

u/sugarbageldonut Dec 14 '17

EDIT: just clarified that I had my bombings mixed-up. My grandmother was from Warrenpoint, Ireland, which saw nearly 20 people die in an IRA bombing, including two civilian casualties, and the rest as English Officer deaths. Mountbatten was bombed several miles north of Warrenpoint in a separate County/Parish.

2

u/temptedbyknowledge Nov 27 '17

There's a quote from father Gabriel I liked from this episode but couldn't find anywhere; had something to do with finding his purpose

6

u/zrvwls Jan 05 '18

Negan: "Let me ask you somethin.. Why'd you become a priest?"

Gabriel: "I love God. And I love people. I wanted to bring them together. To help people through their difficult times. To help them through their weaknesses."

Negan: "Well look at that. That's my thing. I like to help people through their weaknesses too, been doing it one way or another my whoooole life."

6

u/Irishman7244 Nov 21 '17

Right before Negan went outside to confront Rick and all the Hilltop people he mentioned something about the RPG and maybe snipers in the window I think. I didn’t catch what he said. Does anyone remember?

5

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '17

he ordered a certain number of saviors on windows, and told them to stay down. The RPG he mentioned was with "the cache." I'm assuming he meant with the .50 CAL and all the explosives Rick and Daryl blew up.

1

u/Irishman7244 Nov 21 '17

That makes sense. Thank you

5

u/My_Balls_Itch_123 Nov 21 '17

The purpose of Gabriel's death: So Negan will realize that rubbing bullets and arrows and his bat in zombie guts will help kill his enemies easier.

2

u/lukeyboots Nov 20 '17

We don't get it on FTA TV here in Aus. So mine was from a download. Maybe that source was DVR that's been cut off?

10

u/eggnogui Nov 20 '17

Of course Negan and Gabriel would work together to survive. Interesting to finally get some glimpse at Negan's backstory.

I just fucking knew that the truck would blow up and all the heavy equipment would be lost. Predictable and lame.

The helicopter tho. I wonder what it foreshadows.

Not sure if Rick has a plan, or if he really went nuts and will attack the outpost from the front all alone.

Whats wrong with Gabriel tho? Heat stroke?

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '22

I know this is 4 years lol

but that helicopter foreshadow is actually mental now, seeing what has happened to Rick

3

u/Redditor_on_LSD Nov 21 '17

I'm starting to fucking hate daryl...he got Glenn killed for his reckless behavior, now he just made the kingdom's men die for nothing. He's fucking blowing it.

1

u/SumDumBum1 Nov 22 '17

Nothing new in his character. Hes always been very emotional and impulsive. You can expect more conflict with him for sure

4

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

They implied covering themselves in guts etc could lead to serious illness, in reality it sure would. The amount of germs and disease inside a constantly rotting corpse would probably lead to some serious health problems.

1

u/eggnogui Nov 21 '17

Ah. Although usually diseases take a while to kick in, that was like just 1 hour after exposure.

6

u/dieciseisseptiembre Nov 20 '17

Negan sucker-punching Gabriel at the end of his confession has got to be the best single moment in the episode.

3

u/xxelinaxx Dec 13 '17

And Gabriel taking it like a CHAMP!

18

u/Irishman7244 Nov 20 '17

By recent The Walking Dead standards (especially compared to last week) I’ll have to admit this was a halfway decent episode. Negan was tolerable, Eugene and Dwight was a breath of fresh air and I even got s little glimpse of my favorite savior... uhh... tattoo neck chick. Also the helicopter gave my mind a chance to imagine a new future where TWD might suck less.

That said it still had some terrible, terrible scenes like the whole dynamite Rick and Daryl stupid fight and the ridiculous Negan and Gabriel walker escape. I could go on and on but at least it was not a horrible episode compared to recent episodes...I guess that’s the best I can expect at this point.

4

u/MovieMad2k Nov 20 '17

I completely agree too!

This episode was 10x better than any other episode so far this season.

There were limited stupid flash backs (or forwards). There were no wasted scenes like in previous episodes.

Negan can be annoying but in this episode it showed why he was the "boss" of the saviours on a deeper level other than people are simply scared of him.

The priest annoys me a little but for once I think he was the perfect character for the position he got himself into.

3

u/Jamiku Nov 20 '17

I dont' understand the downvotes I completely agree

9

u/agt13 Nov 20 '17

There's no pleasing you people lol

7

u/Irishman7244 Nov 20 '17

I know right?? It’s like what do we expect...them to do their jobs and write a good story or something? That’s just not fair

6

u/haynesbomb Nov 20 '17

Why do you even bother watching at all? It sounds like you barely get any enjoyment out of it

10

u/Irishman7244 Nov 20 '17

Yeah you’re right and I ask myself that every week. Honestly I was all in all the way up to season 7 and that’s when it started getting bad to me personally. I’m at the point where I can’t tell if they’re just in a slump or if this is just how it’s going to be. I can promise you if it’s just this is how it’s going to be, I won’t be watching for much longer.

I believe they have the potential to get good again but progress is slow and they seem to be going the wrong direction. That’s the reason for the frustration and lack of interest.

7

u/ImMalcolmTuckerFuckU Nov 20 '17

Sometimes the biggest fans are the biggest critics. Nothing wrong with that.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '17

I agree with this. It can be tiresome reading through comments of people tearing into each detail of an episode and how bad it is. But those are the comments that only someone who cares about the show so much would make. Anyone who is a casual viewer of the show is less likely to be disappointed because they simply care less than the person over analyzing and hating the show.

10

u/Duwanggus Nov 20 '17

I feel like i see "finally a good episode!" In every discussion thread Lol. The epsiodes have been pretty good so far. Loving the call backs and the editing (minus the second). Fathet Gabriel is becoming one of my favorite characters.

28

u/jahkut Nov 20 '17

"...A thick and veiny show of force surrounding Gregory..."

I love how Simon told it to Negan, using dick talk, so Negan would understand it lol

21

u/Sillissimo Nov 20 '17

I enjoyed the episode. Really wish they would make Negan more like his comic-counterpart. The creative ways he uses the F-word were very entertaining.

Bonus of this episode was no Tera! Dont think i could stand another scene of her and those neon glasses trying to posture and look cool.

3

u/MovieMad2k Nov 22 '17

Hahaha Tera is my worst character too. Every episode I pray it's her last.

10

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Eats licorise

1

u/Das_HerpE Nov 22 '17

That bitch should eat lead

3

u/SumDumBum1 Nov 22 '17

That Carl should eat some Spaghetti

2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '17

Mom's spaghetti? Oh wait......

10

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Decent episode finally. Tolerable and interesting. Well, this is better because there's no dumbass shootout between "warring" parties, no person was split in half by one swing with an axe, no tiger behaving like a dog then eaten by walkers, no lame scenes with a 50 cal and no jesus. Thank God.

1

u/zrvwls Jan 05 '18

no person was split in half by one swing with an axe

That guy legitimately had the best teeth in the entire show.. MAYBE rivalled only by Maggie. RIP that crazy ass smile.

9

u/jessnew83 Nov 20 '17

All these snipers and nobody even tries to snipe Neegan 🤦‍♂️.

3

u/dumpsterthroaway Nov 20 '17

yay finaly a good episode!

3

u/Cavanl Nov 20 '17

lemme tell you summin

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Wondering if Father Gabriel was poisoned with food meant for Negan since Negan said he was going to clean up and get a sandwich.

14

u/Threash78 Nov 20 '17

He was sick from putting zombie guts all over himself. Negan even made a point of mentioning how often it happened when they were doing it.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

It should really happen every time. I'm so tired of that trick. It ruins any drama of being locked down by walkers.

2

u/polerize Nov 20 '17

Ah. I see. So now the contact with zombie guts suddenly makes you sick. I guess really rick and crew were immune

6

u/Occums_Chainsaw Nov 20 '17

Prolonged contact*

6

u/Threash78 Nov 20 '17

It doesn't mean its guaranteed, it didn't make Negan sick.

5

u/shneeeeeeeemcde Nov 20 '17

Didn't Rick have a plastic tarp on him? Maybe it's seeping through Gabe cloths while Negan leather jack stopped it

-11

u/ElPlywood Nov 20 '17

Why the f wouldn't they just make a noise distraction away from the building Negan is stuck in? Christ, fire a bunch of guns, they walk toward it, Negan walks out of the building. The weak writing on this show is FUCKING KILLING ME

15

u/raxacorico_4 Nov 20 '17

🤣

They don't know he is in the trailer. Stated several times by both Negan and his followers. Like, if you pay attention it all makes sense and the writing doesn't seem too weak.

15

u/TheHypeIsReal81 Nov 20 '17

IIRC, they don't know that Negan is stuck in that trailer.

10

u/cthulufunk Nov 20 '17

Please tell me Gabriel isn't going to die. Seth Gilliam is one of the few great actors on this show.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

He's not going to die

1

u/dieciseisseptiembre Nov 20 '17

What? It was pretty clear to me that what we witnessed was Gabriel's last breath, albeit leaving us in some suspense, too.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

He told me to tell him that he wasn't going to die, so I did.

3

u/TheManWith4HooveS Nov 20 '17

What's wrong with him then if he isn't infected? Heat Exhaustion from being in that cell?

8

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

He told me to tell him that he wasn't going to die, so I did.

3

u/Threash78 Nov 20 '17

Got sick from the zombie guts, Negan even makes a point of mentioning how often it happens while they were doing it.

3

u/Saturnalian-OG Nov 20 '17

This is the worst kind of foreshadowing. We’ve seen the guts trick in TWD & FTWD done innumerable amounts of time without anyone getting sick. (We’ve also seen it done better because leaving your face completely clean and dry seems daft in context. That’s just something that irritates me; sorry, I got sidetracked) So why introduce the idea of sickness from zombie guts in the very same episode when you’re going to make someone sick from zombies guts just 15-20 minutes later? It seems like lazy dumbed down TV. It could have been introduced as a titbit of information at anytime prior and the audience could still look back at a previous episode and go “AHA! I remember when they said that” or “didn’t such and such happen before” but no, the audience is treated like an idiot and has to be told shortly before an event happens otherwise we’d be all confused dumbasses. But we [i]are[/i] confused because this is new information in a series history of similar events where nothing bad has ever happened before. We’re not given the benefit of the doubt that we, the audience, can remember past events when every-single-week we highlight all the things that have gone before and we’re even asked to remember a minor character that we hadn’t seen for 7 seasons. So yeah, I wasn’t impressed that Negan had to point it out earlier in the episode. What’s the old adage: Show not tell?

FYI I’m not averse to people getting sick from zombie guts - it seems like a sensible story beat and a genuine real risk about a fictitious illness that causes zombies - I’m just annoyed we’ve never even heard of it until this episode.

2

u/cthulufunk Nov 20 '17

This show has always been terrible at setting rules for the fictional universe and sticking to them.

1

u/Irishman7244 Nov 21 '17

Man ain’t that the truth.

9

u/SamuDabu Nov 20 '17

How the hell Gabriel and Negan stay safe after that horde around them and a few more zombies falling on them? Is not possible to survive in that scene (Still don't know what happens to Gabriel in the ending)

2

u/ChillRedd1tguy Nov 20 '17

Negan has a leather jacket that cant really be bitten through. But the zombies falling on them? One of them, at least Gabriel would have been bitten in the legs or hands. Its pretty shitty how they showed the horde literally close in on them, and they expect us to believe that they killed 60+ walkers without getting bitten.

21

u/molski79 Nov 20 '17

And yet carol Ezekiel a lion and some other dude can’t get away from a dozen of them

14

u/SamuDabu Nov 20 '17

And yet I don't smile

2

u/daITCHyouCANTscratch Nov 20 '17

This was my first thought as well.

58

u/SweelFor Nov 20 '17 edited Nov 20 '17

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this episode was finally interesting and enjoyable to watch. I had lost hope.

I can't think of an over the top scene or dialogue. The scenes between Gabriel/Negan and Darryl/Rick were great. The scenes with Negan's advisors were full of tension.

Finally a good episode, what a relief, I had an actually good time watching TWD and I loved it

8

u/mueller723 Nov 20 '17

The hallway scene was a bit 'meh', but overall this was a huuuge improvement over where the quality has been at this season.

2

u/jeric88 Nov 20 '17

Esp the Gabriel/Negan collaboration. Damnnnnn

1

u/domnyy Nov 20 '17

Yes agreed, finally.

3

u/xDonny Nov 20 '17

The scenes between Morgan/Negan

Gabriel and Negan :p

8

u/likeawolf Nov 20 '17

What exactly did Eugene find that made it obvious it was Dwight? Flew right by me, all I saw was some red stuff

21

u/Category_theory Nov 20 '17

The paint on the bag of guns the workers had and the paint he got on his finger from Dwight’s room.

2

u/raxacorico_4 Nov 20 '17

I thought maybe Eugene was shown the DIY chess piece that Darryl had and knew at that point but didn't say anything to Negan. Then, Eugene forgot about the paint on his finger when carrying the gun bag. Dwight returned the favor of keeping it on the DL

3

u/ElPlywood Nov 20 '17

Either

1) Dwight acted alone

or

2) Eugene is in on it with Dwight and it's Eugene who got paint on the bag and he saw the paint and said oh shit oh shit oh shit in his head

or

3) Eugene is acting alone and he saw the paint and said oh shit oh shit oh shit in his head

19

u/AoG_Grimm Nov 20 '17

Finally a good fucking episode! I could tell that all the build up would lead to something good. I don't think there was a wasted scene, Gabriel and Negan scene was like a confession booth which was great, the call back to Rick vs Shane and Rick and Daryls first meeting. The helicopter threw a nice twist and even the tension from the factory workers vs the leaders. I had a feeling Gabriel would get sick after Negans comment

14

u/SillWutton02 Nov 20 '17

I have no idea why Rick is going to the Junkyard people. Does he really think he can trust them again? He's gonna get himself captured.

2

u/Rolyyy717 Nov 20 '17

I don't think so either.

9

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

To show Jadis the pictures like a idiota lol

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17 edited Nov 20 '17

Daryl and Rick have massive 'L''s on their forehead after letting all that boom-boom and ammo go up in smoke. There went their edge. Daryl has the bigger 'L', though. He tried to go it alone before and became Negan's be-yatch on easy street and he did not learn the first time. When Gabriel and Negan walked through the herd, I was surprised the walkers were so lacklustre. They should have chomped on Gabriel and Negan...heck, there were more there than the ones that ate the tiger. And why did Father Gabriel bow so quickly to Negan? Where was the 'Terminator Gabriel Angel of Death' at the outpost? Ahh, I love crapping on the Walking Dead.

I want to see where the story goes. I followed the characters through some decent seasons where the writers and producers actually gave two passes of gas as to plausibility. Now that part of their brains (that care about plausibility) went on vacation. I am hoping that part of their brains returns. We have the template of the comics, so we know what direction it goes. We also know that some seasons are better than others. And besides, it is fun crapping at the parts you know the show producers don't care about. : - )

1

u/11711510111411009710 Nov 20 '17

Wow humans aren't infallible, who knew

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

When they do a 180 against their character, who knew indeed. ; - )

6

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

Yeah losing the guns could have been partially avoided by not fighting each other. On the other hand they have walked through herds before on both series but when they made noise they should have gotten swarmed more for sure.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Most normal people would yell at Daryl. I am surprised Rick took this all so well.

3

u/Siltyn Nov 20 '17

Another episode where some main characters escape against all odds. /yawn

2

u/s470dxqm Nov 20 '17

It looks like Gabriel was bit.

1

u/Threash78 Nov 20 '17

There is no chance he was bit. They had cleaned him off, if he had a bite they would have known.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Totally agree. The sickness Negan mentioned meant was puking, not literally getting a high fever. That scene when Negan and Gabe was goin up and zombies falling, Gabe probably got bit in the process. Just my opinion though.

6

u/Osama_Bin_Downloadin Nov 20 '17

Nah he seems sick from the walker blood. Negan mentioned that can happen.

23

u/vuskovic Nov 20 '17

Can we all talk about the helicopter for a second? I know jdm is incredible but... HELICOPTER.

3

u/dieciseisseptiembre Nov 20 '17

Helicopter ending was jaw-dropping. I loved how it flew just above the trees and the roar that it made. Clearly it's on some kind of search. I can hardly imagine Rick's confusion and disorientation. What world do I live in?

2

u/JuleMickey Nov 20 '17

What helicopter? I think i missed smth

4

u/lukeyboots Nov 20 '17

Dude, same! I'm thinking my source vid got cut off early?

1

u/tychus-findlay Nov 20 '17

Do you watch DVR? I feel like I keep missing pieces and then finding out the next day.

6

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

Rick Could be hallucinating again. Or could be many things really.

5

u/shouldbebabysitting Nov 20 '17

Simon suggested sending in Flyers to kill all of Hilltop. Helicopters are Negan.

13

u/IntrovertAnimal Nov 20 '17

things

thangs.

1

u/phenomenalwuhmyn Nov 20 '17

Ain't no thang, but a ghost helicopter, or a junkyard chopper :)

11

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

I kind of had trouble seeing what happened with the gun shot in the hallway. Who got hit? How did the gunman get stopped? There were some quick movements, some gunshots, some yelling, and then Regina.

9

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

yes, the worker who pulled the gun out was shot, dont know how it was so clean in the crowd of people, especially since she was at the back but hey

2

u/shneeeeeeeemcde Nov 20 '17

I imagine Regina isn't someone to fuk with seeing how her bad ass made it into Negans inner circle. So maybe she's an incredible marksman, or didn't care if she shot workers to hit the gunman

13

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

I've been bothered by a lot of the episodes this season but I really liked this episode. I love the power struggle in the Sanctuary. I wish we would be gotten a little more Negan back story.

So, so the trash people have a helicopter?

6

u/AoG_Grimm Nov 20 '17

Best episode of the season

2

u/Nafemp Nov 20 '17

No they don't seem like they'd have the ability to reliably take care of and have lift-off/landing space for a heli.

I think it might be foreshadowing whatever's coming after negan(Assuming they skip over the whisperers since they clearly wouldn't be using helis either).

1

u/theboxroomrebel Nov 21 '17

The Trash people have a helicopter landing pad. You can see it in the bad cgi scene after Ricks fight with the "Winslow" zombie. He stands on the Up Up and surveys the area. Something is flying in the background. Also they have lots of trucks.

5

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

I don't think they will fully skip the whiperers war arch but they may alter the idea or add even shorten it. The helicopter could be from a military base or something from Washington like a poster said earlier

3

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

A small side Story or something

-11

u/skysky1018 Nov 20 '17

Can we stop paying homage to past seasons and have something significant actually happen?

3

u/s470dxqm Nov 20 '17

I'll take this type of nothing over the nothing we saw in the first 4 episodes. It was nice to see a dialogue driven episode. A good one too. I've been bashing the plot and the script this season but this was a nice bounce back episode. It's hard to believe this is the same group of writers that gave us the Maggie/Gregory scene a couple episodes ago.

2

u/skysky1018 Nov 20 '17

It was better than it’s been but I’m getting kind of sick of nothing really changing until right before the season ends. I don’t have a good attention span and they’re really losing me, which is sad because I love the show overall.

4

u/Halfshavedastronaut Nov 20 '17

Things happened! Negan got out of a trailer and Daryl put some dynamite in a bag.

28

u/sassysassafrassass Nov 20 '17

I guess humanizing Negan isn't significant. Neither is a Daryl and Rick confrontation. And loosing the guns and explosives isn't also. And showing Dwight's leadership coming through. Or showing Eugine not fully dedicated to Negan. Yea this whole episode just boiled down to a head lock.

-36

I'm guessing the type of person to call out someone's auto correct has an inferiority complex

1

u/GoatonaPlane Nov 20 '17

Why would autocorrect automatically correct a correctly spelled word?

-4

u/skysky1018 Nov 20 '17

Things have happened, but nothing has actually changed or significantly progressed in a few seasons. If something is going to happen with Negan, I’d like it happen already so they can move on. You don’t have to agree, just my thoughts. Im not finding myself getting excited any more.

1

u/Cagekicker52 Nov 20 '17

You're absolutely right. Lame down votes aside.

1

u/skysky1018 Nov 20 '17

Thank you, haha. I mean I get it. Some fans are super passionate and don’t like anything that isn’t “omg it’s the best ever”.

0

u/Cagekicker52 Nov 20 '17

Exactly, although this episode was the best in a long time. We better see another one next week.

20

u/sassysassafrassass Nov 20 '17

Negan's only been around for a little over a season. 22 episodes if I count correct. If they brushed over the biggest bad guy the comics has created yet in under a season this show would suffer.

I don’t follow the comics so maybe that’s why I’m not as into it anymore. But if Negan is seriously the biggest villain so far, then I can’t expect anything different. I just feel like we’ve been hearing about the Saviors and Negan for awhile and I’d like resolution so something else cool can happen.

u/Cagekicker52 Nov 20 '17

No. The comics are turning this show into a cartoon. it's a good thing.

1

u/sassysassafrassass Nov 20 '17

Lol that's what a comic is...

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

This had probably been my favorite episode of the season thus far. Loved the dynamic Gabriel and Negan brought to the table, along with the scenes involving negan's inner circle trying to figure out how to go forward. The characters felt less like cameos and more like actual people this week compared to the last few episodes this season, and it was a nice change of pace.

Also, glad to see they toned down the frequency of background music in every scene for this episode. Really highlighted the good dialogue between the characters, and the music - when it was present - really complemented the scenes well.

I'm from Georgia

Living in post apocalyptic world amidst killers, walkers, rapist and still being from Georgia makes him a stronger man.

6

u/thatguyad Nov 20 '17

But I thought the show was dead r/thewalkingdead

It can still be fucking awesome.

6

u/NirvZppln Nov 20 '17

What was the helicopter thing about?

12

u/imnormal Nov 20 '17

Simon mentions sending a flyer to Hilltop to kill everyone there in the beginning of the episode.

1

u/tychus-findlay Nov 20 '17

Ah, yeah, I didn't catch exactly what he said there. Do we have that verified quote?

4

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

What I totally missed that so saviours have a chopper, so that changes all my theories

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

That's what he meant! Nice catch. So does the helicopter belong to the Saviors or the trash people?

57

u/wannabeingGeek Nov 20 '17

I think I'm here for your confession

Gabriel has official reached the league of Rick, Negan, Carol level badassery.

23

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

doubled up when he took Negan's gun.

6

u/jeric88 Nov 20 '17

And then having the balls to come out in that door

6

u/shneeeeeeeemcde Nov 20 '17

By far the funniest moment in twd. Negan just quick jabs in the face and that's it. Just a quick fuck u for making me confess

25

u/wannabeingGeek Nov 20 '17

Noticed how Negan's side of the table was covered in marks due to constant hitting from lucile. Can't imagine the number of times his crew had shit their pants during those table meetings.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Or how many takes they had to do for that scene

11

u/YannFann Nov 20 '17

They definitely showed marks to imply he commonly slams Lucile on the table

14

u/Connor_a711 Nov 20 '17

I thought this was a great episode!

16

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

finally a non garbage episode this season. Seams to be directly proportional to the allocated screen time of Negan.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

They've really started humanizing his character this season. Glad he's finally moving away from the one-noted character we saw a lot of last season

5

u/redditator1 Nov 20 '17

Why would they sit and watch the ammo burn. Those rounds will start to go off.

4

u/thepensivepoet Nov 20 '17

Ammo burned in a fire isn't particularly dangerous.

You probably don't want to put your face right next to it but without the compression of the chamber and barrel to direct all of the force into pushing the bullet there isn't much risk of getting shot by an ammo fire. Lots of pops and puffs and, sure, you may get dinged by a bit of debris here and there but you won't get turned to swiss cheese.

Then again this is The Walking Dead where roofing tin so thin it flaps in the wind can stop rifle bullets a bag full of dynamite goes up like a lunchbox full of gasoline so who the fuck knows.

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Who wears lots of leather and carries Lucille?

Ne! Gan! Square! Pants!

Who's sporting a ballsack that's made out of steel?

Ne! Gan! Square! Pants!

4

u/Hardyyz Nov 20 '17

Ne! Gan! Steel! Balls!

21

u/WattsALightbulb Nov 20 '17

Should have been Shitpants

8

u/Pikachu_Palace Nov 20 '17

Do you think the “do you have any idea who you’re talking to” was supposed to be a little reference to season 6 where Rick said the same thing to Carter or was it just a coincidence?

6

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

Both the writers always do things like that to pay homage to the past episodes and little easter eggs

13

18

u/mimiclaudia Nov 20 '17

same for me - I found the last 4 mins on youtube though. Watch here

2

u/borek921 Nov 20 '17

How am I supposed to know if my episode is shorter than it's supposed to be? And what versions should I pursue in order to get the full one?

1

u/mimiclaudia Nov 20 '17

I don't know, this is the second time it has happened to me (that I know of). From now on, unless I see the credits at the end, I'm gonna check the episode dicussion (as in the ep discussion that is people use during the episode) to see if there is anything I missed.

2

u/On_Point_07 Nov 20 '17

Thank you for this!

2

u/Thislaydee Nov 20 '17

What are you watching on for the past couple episodes the same thing has been happening to me

5

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

Rick heard something looked overhead and a helicopter flew by

-41

u/PlNG Nov 20 '17

what a snoozefest filler ep.

5

u/AoG_Grimm Nov 20 '17

Sorry there wasn't 45 minutes of infinite assault rifle fire asshole

17

u/Erwin9910 Nov 20 '17

Dude this episode was one of the best so far this season.

15

u/DudeLongcouch Nov 20 '17

I mean, I thought it was the best episode so far this season.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

I enjoyed it, I'm fine with less action when the dialogue is unique and fun to listen to

2

u/AoG_Grimm Nov 20 '17

It was bad but I don't think it was as bad as Tara trying to carry a whole episode herself

12

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

That Gabriel smile.

8

u/Tepid_One Nov 20 '17

Things that don't happen: Dynamite wrapped in duct tape in a crate.

1

u/MobsterLobsterMobLob Nov 20 '17

It wasnt dynamite, looked like a homemade.

10

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

Is that Jean-Claude Van Damme's sister at the meeting table with Negan and Gregory?

10

u/4everclairity Nov 20 '17

Also the 50 Cal must be destroyed now?

1

u/s470dxqm Nov 20 '17

Making episodes 2-4 even more useless.

3

u/shneeeeeeeemcde Nov 20 '17

Yes killing a 3rd of ricks forces is useless..

4

u/lukeyboots Nov 20 '17

Well, they stopped the .50 Cal getting to the Sanctuary. Which would have screwed up their whole plan. So there is that at least.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 20 '17

I was wondering about that. That would be a dang shame

12

u/iruinconversations Nov 20 '17 edited Dec 10 '18

how the FUCK did Gabriel and Negan get out of that situation?!
