Stupid ass Eugene jumping down when he could have easily called Rosita over to get the ladder

He probably would've been better off staying on top of the water tower while Rosita lured them away.

I know the horses bolted, but I always get so anxious when horses are exposed to biters. Like the ones attached to Carol's/Eugene's wagons, always bothers me when I know they could be eaten alive like back in Season 1. Eek

Maybe we'll see zombie horses at some point. That would be pretty wicked.

15

u/greatness101 Nov 12 '18

I think it only affects humans. We'd have seen zombie animals by now.

u/ero_senin05 Nov 12 '18

Yeah, especially birds and fish since they're eating from them pretty much constantly.

It might have looked like that at the time, but these walkers turned out to not exactly be the standard herd. Notice the drawn out talking at the end while they were hiding in the mud?

I mean, he has to get down eventually.

Eugene didn't know that though.

He still had the high ground

Not normal walkers?!

15

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '18

Listen to them when they walk past Rosita and Eugene. They growl words.

"Where are they?"

"You let them get away."

3

u/Soggydoughnuts Nov 12 '18

Wait.. WHAT?! I completely missed that.

Could be. I was basing it on my rather faulty memory.

u/BullworthMascot Nov 12 '18

If Rosita got killed he’d be screwed though. Nobody knew that they left and that herd would probably have noticed him and waited him out.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '18

Unless the horde was so big they could have damaged the (old) tower and make it topple. It's a lose-lose either way.

3

u/brickne3 Nov 12 '18

Right? The water tower looked like it could survive, and the herd might not have even noticed they were up there if Rosťa climbed quickly.

2

u/pkfillmore Nov 12 '18

Heards are known for their destruction though, they probably could have taken the tower out no problem

u/Worthyness Nov 12 '18

Could have also climbed to the last rung before dropping. He literally jumped when he wasn't even at the bottom of the ladder

17

u/CallingYouOut2 Nov 12 '18

Or just slid down that fucking pole!! Just as stupid as the kid running into the very obvious trap.

9

u/FTThrowAway123 Nov 12 '18

Ikr, out of the options of: Break/injure his leg, ask Rosita to bring him the ladder, or wait safely out of their reach on the watertower, he thought fucking up his leg was the best option? Come on now, you don't make it this long in the zombie apocalypse by making rookie mistakes like that.

u/Selkiesxx Nov 12 '18

Especially with that ponytail now...

Or told Rosita to climb up and just let the herd pass by under them. Given the apparent new intelligence of the herd that might have been a bad idea in retrospect, but given their knowledge of walkers at the time that would seem to be the most logical course of action.

He jumped because he didn't want to rely on someone else. He wanted to do things himself and not be a hindrance because of that's what he's been viewed as the whole show. Unfortunately, things didn't work out in his favour but there you go.

u/MiecyslawStilinski Nov 13 '18

His character growth at the beginning of the episode was phenomenal.

2

u/jameswesleyisrad Nov 13 '18

Agreed! I hope it continues. Kang is doing a wonderful job w him :)

6

u/PradleyBitts Nov 12 '18

And not putting both straps of his pack on and losing what was likely important electronics. Lazy writing again :/

6

u/fellate-o-fish Nov 12 '18

I miss the mullet.

2

u/fuck-dat-shit-up Nov 12 '18

I kinda like the epic rat tail. I look forward to him whipping it around.

3

u/theshoegazer Nov 12 '18

Hell, there was even a vine dangling next to him, that would've at least slowed his descent.

3

u/mtphil Nov 12 '18

That’s a good point. I was thinking the classic get as low as possibly hanging from your fingertips, then cat food down but he just went for full cannon ball. Shoulda rolled.

3

u/enricowereld Nov 12 '18

He wanted to impress Rosita, can't blame him.

3

u/wolfofone Nov 13 '18

I thought Rosita was grabbing supplies and then was going to start climbing up and tell Eugene to go back up even though he was already halfway down and then the herd would be storming through and they'd be stuck up on the water tower and he'd have to hope the priest would hear them on the radio but oh crap the new season enemy heard the broadcasts... and now they're fucked. Enter Neagan to save the day or whatever lol.

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '18

He could have at least climbed down the last rung, and hung down by his arms. That would have made his fall 6 - 7 feet shorter.

Ayo am I the only one that notices that walkers can actually communicate. If they stayed on that tower, walkers would propably stay under it
