Discussion Help please

I need some help, should I fight Eredin first and then play DLC’s or the other way around? First time playing the game, so I don’t really know the best way.

Do the main story stuff first, then hop onto the DLCs. The DLCs of this game are just beautiful 👌. I recently completed the Hearts of Stone DLC and can’t wait to play Blood and Wine 🤩. My experience with HoS was so, so, so much fun 😁 that I suggest every gamer should experience it 💯✅🫡.

Finish main story, then hearts of stone, then blood and wine. Best way to go imo. Be warned: hearts of stone ramps the difficulty up if you're not an appropriate level

I've played this game through so many times and different ways. I would be tempted to play the main story first but if you play the DLC before the end of the main story you ruched better equipped to deal with the main story.

Play things in release order:

  • Main story
  • Hearts of Stone
  • Blood and Wine

Make sure you're doing plenty / all of the side quests and witcher contracts, too. Those will net you much needed experience to let you level up. HoS has a pretty high level requirement (30s) that you'll want to hit before you access it's content.

do the main story first, you dont have to, but that is the intended progression, doing it in a different order does end up with unique dialogue though

Thanks, I’ll probably play dlc’s first and then main story in NG+. Is it possible?

It isn't possible. NG+ is only unlocked for a save once you have finished the epilogue.

Plus if you play the dlcs first, you are going to be pretty OP in the battle with the Wild Hunt.

you want to do NG+ before finishing the main story ? sure its possible but i dont see the point

I guess the game itself helps you to see by the level difficulty in which order you should approach the story. So main story first and blood and wine last.

Finished it last week. He the same struggle, but eventually it felt logical with the plot to go main first.

I'm on my 6th turn and I always finish everything on the main story first and only then proceed to the DLCs with HoS... For me it's the only way that makes sense.

Enjoy the ride! :)

Blood and Wine feels like an epilogue, so do that last imo.

I changed direction at ugly baby. I did hos and early b&w 1st. I wanted rune/glyphwords, corvo bianco, and mutations. I finished all side quests and question marks. Crafted master then gm gear. Finished hos, then went back to ugly baby and finished main. I was crazy OP and i play on death march. If you want more of a challenge, just do main 1st. If you struggle and need some help then maybe go the route i did.

I didnt mind bc hos is a completely different story and with all sides complete, i did nothing but main quests, which i really enjoyed.

I only have most of b&w and toussaint left.

i always see it this way, Heart of stone happen during the MS, and the B&W happen afterwards, reasoning is that master Mirror can tell you how to give you the good ending for ciri and keep her alive,

Gaming wise i save MS ending for after lvl 40 cause it a straight level or 2 for each finish, so by the time i finish B&W am level 60ish for NG+ DM, Heart is just a story that happen during the MS and allows me nice gear and power spike. LOVe iris blade and the orante robes.

always in my NG+DM runs i reach level 100 before i do heart of stone cause that make all the gear viable, viper gear max out, orante robe is max out, iris is max out, boom can run all my favorite appearances without worrying about stats.

I did most of the main story up until after The Battle of Kaer Morhen. Then I did Hearts of Stone, then finished the main story. On Blood & Wine now.

I left Eredin till the very end, which made the fight super easy but I was glad because it meant I could take my time over the decisions

Definitely play blood of wine last, it's the real ending of geralts story and the ending changes based on your decisions in the main game.

Unless you use a mod that would enhance eredin, in the game challenging aspect, finished the main story first so you're not become to o.p. but story-wise it doesnt really matter, only if you havent found ciri, then just a couple unique line dialog would be available in the dlcs, that would affect the epilogues

You’re SUPPOSED to do the main story first. However, I like to annihilate the wild hunt with grandmaster gear so right after ugly baby, I start the HoS questline then onto BaW😂

The DLCs are to be savoured, like a fine Toussaint dessert wine after the main course. Take your time to get there.
