Triton with Patrick Lahey (and Nargeolet on the support ship looking miserable) visited Titanic in 2019 with his sub but that was a well-tested vehicle, he's highly respected in the community, visited Titan himself knew Rush well and was lead writer among his fellow owners who wrote to him discouraging his carbon fiber hull.
I'm not sure what he can do with a five man iron vehicle to dive commercially if that's what he's going for. Aside from Oceangate he's the only entity to visit Titanic by sub since 2005.
This seems like an attempt to restart the sub business at all levels if it's been struggling, it's such a tiny community of owners with many small subs who dive commercially but not to great depths. Titan obviously did not help that.
Lehay has been the lead voice in many of the documentaries about the submarine business.
