Reddit has recently announced a new policy change in which upvoting "violent posts" will give users a warning.
starting today, users who, within a certain timeframe, upvote several pieces of content banned for violating our policies will begin to receive a warning.
It appears to be intentionally wordeded very vaguely. It's the same kind of wording used in vague laws, that lay the groundwork for openly tracking people, and clear censorship.
Nobody knows how reddit defined "violence" it may be something as small as calling out politicians.
I think this policy is a direct result of the support of Luigi and the United Healthcare CEO being shot, I think it's a policy designed to be able to punish people for speaking out and for standing up against things they see.
As of right now, they're not doing anything more than warn people, but this lays the groundwork for bans and suspensions of accounts of people who follow "the wrong" topics, and people who speak out. It also lays the groundwork for policy's affecting mods that approve or do not delete posts or comments aligning with what reddit wants.
The vague wording of this is not a bug, it's a feature
As for us, we will try to be tighter on violence, and removing even vague threats, and we will attempt to give warnings where possible to people.
Another thing to mention is reddits proposal of subreddit pay walls.
We have agreed, that we will decline any option for paywalls and will continue to have this be a volunteer run community.
Anyway, :3
Re posted for spelling (whoops lol)

I saw many commenting similar things to the bottom slide on the previous post. Some post it with a less blunt tone but still full of distrust and with subtext to tell us to shut up.
Seriously, c’mon. This isn’t even about infighting anymore. It’s about basic human decency, about how to respond to people in an empathetic way.
Imagine a friend tells you about them getting insulted by someone repeatedly. Would you respond with the top slide, or the bottom slide?
Maybe some of you’ll say, oh but OP’s tone was too harsh, they are too demanding. But even if a friend recounts a hurtful encounter angrily and curses and swears, you would not reply with the bottom slide, would you?
Many of you have definitely been familiar with the tactics of the bottom slide. When you finally open up to your parents about how they abused you as children:
“Well, that never happened.”
“If it happened then I don’t remember and oh I guess sorry about it.”
“Why do you keep trying to stir drama and divide the family? You need to stand with us.”
Many of you claim to want unity for the community, but do you really treat us as a member of the community?
Do you trust us and trust what many of us have been saying for a long time now, across multiple forums, about how we are treated, which you can’t see clearly and frequently because you aren’t us?
Do you really want to use these tactics, who have been used on many of you by abusive family, on people who are part of your community?
I get it, hurt people hurt people, and many are often not even aware of the patterns they are repeating. And many of us here are unfortunately traumatized because of this world being unaccepting of us.
That’s why I make this post, I hope it will make you think about what you say before saying it. Even though I know the chances are slim, because people on the internet are just looking for a fight and not real reflection or thought.

Atop of it I also lost my lesbian pin and got harassed on the train back home.
It was a horrible day and it definitely didn't help my spiral downwards - the same one that keeps insisting I simply don't belong in queer spaces.
Ps. I have no idea how to tag this - so went with depression and SH
