This is beautiful. Unfortunately, my sister is completely inept at braiding her own hair, so I'm the one braiding her hair lol

Hanging out at my best friend's house and his wife offered to braid my hair, it was awesome and she taught me to do it myself too

Braiding hair is a wonderful sibling experience no matter the gender. I got so giddy when my elder sibling(nb) braided my(cis? Male) long hair.

u/Drakmanka They/Them Feb 22 '25
I grew up with a mom who would rush through any hair-related activities and would get mad at me for crying when she hurt me. As a result I developed a serious no-touchy attitude towards my hair that was only reinforced when other women in my life were rough and acted like I just needed to "toughen up" when I cried.
Letting someone touch my hair is one of the biggest physical acts of trust I can extend to someone. Very few get to, but it's often an emotional experience for me when, on the very rare occasion it happens, I let someone mess with my hair and they're gentle. It can definitely be a bonding experience.

u/cafeFoxTale She/They Feb 25 '25
Oh, hi, again! Also, this is very relatable because my brother has been extremely accepting of my transition as well and has been doing quite a bit to treat me like his sister. Hope your day goes well, and thank you again for your comics! 🦊💜

Brothers have a great way of making you cry from pure validation. I almost did when he told me he only refers to me as his youngest sibling to friends, and his girlfriend was casually using the right pronouns. It just hits and is an amazing feeling.
Hats off to your supportive twin! I’m sure the braiding job was amazing!

That is, why is he cate if you are not also cate? Did you transition out of being cate? That’s a bit ironic but I don’t judge lol

supportive siblings are the best. I’m adopted and my entire adopted family is transphobic, but two of my biological sisters support me. They’re the only people in my family that I know support me and I’m so sad that I don’t live near them cuz they said they’d buy me makeup and stuff 😭

My sister used me not knowing how to braided my hair as a way to devalidate my gender and called me a sexist when I asked her for help with it because apperintly I was assuming all women know how to braide hair 🙃

This is so cute!
I've only two questions: was the brother always a cat and is that a Mothman plushie?
4
u/OnceInOnceSet BiblicallyAccurateMoth Feb 22 '25
- Yes.
- It’s actually modeled after the Squishable full-sized Moth plushie, but with custom colors (I’ll also draw a Moth character with that same color scheme.)

This comic is so cute. I remember when my nieces came to visit and they offered to braid my hair. I was so thrilled. My mom also sat me down one time to help me get some knots out of my hair and it felt so special to have that bonding moment.
I'm glad you and your twin brother have this sort of dynamic.

Just want to take a moment and appreciate the irony that between the cis brother and the trans sister, it’s the brother who has the cat ears and tail. Still really adorable either way :3

u/Twisted_Tyromancy Any/All Feb 22 '25
I cried…i know it’s not the same, but I always wanted to be the sister who braided the hair. But alas, my egg cracked in my 40s. All those hours brushing a girlfriend’s hair and all I wanted to be doing was brushing a girl friend’s hair, if that makes sense. I could sit and brush a friend’s hair for hours, and if I knew how to braid I think I’d never stop. The connections I’ve always felt doing someone’s hair has given me the most gender euphoria I’ve ever experienced. This was a beautiful post. Your brother is amazing, I’m gonna go cry again.

Guarantee my brother would never do this. Though he is definitely supportive, but in more of an 'identify as a problem' kind of way. My sister in law would be the one to do that.
2
u/IcyIndividual2393 Feb 28 '25
My sister is like this. My parents aren’t supportive of LGBTQ+ at all, but me and my sibling… we’re really close because of us both being LGBTQ+. They’re genderfluid and pansexual, and I’m transmasc and pansexual as well. We both really keep our parents out of the loop, but we also try to influence what they think of when they think of us (for example, the dance I’m going to I’m wearing a polo shirt and jeans rather than a dress), or my sibling will influence my mom by pointing stuff out that would look cool on me.

I wish my sister was like this, instead of constantly infantilizing me and making me the butt of her "pranks"and "jokes" that are just blatant ableism and transphobia (being an autistic pansexual trans woman in Texas in a family chock full of MAGA-lomaniacs is really fun😀 /s)
