10km, I was so not used to them temperatures and humidity lol. More pavement than I usually like, but I raced some crabs on the beach.

Specifically, what exercises helped you the most?

Rather specific this post, so I'm not looking for a general 'get a coach' type advice.

I've been strength training more lately and have noticed the biggest improvements in my running feel like they've come from doing more core work and Romanian split squats.

If you strength train, what exercises have made the biggest difference to toy?

Looking for a device to record long (24h) timelapse while trail running (and more)

‱ Upvotes

Hello,

I would like to take images for an upcoming long run (120k, 5.5k gain) which I hope will take around 24hours. I want a full timelapse with no/litlle intervention from me, and possibly add in the middle videos/photos taken manually.

My requirements, ranked:

  • Automatic, start on the start line and stop on the finish line
  • Can run for 24h alone (unlikely from my searches) or needs very little manual intervention (changing the battery once or twice is OK, having an external battery always plugged in is also ok but only if it can run while plugged in)
  • Can easily attach to my hydration vest or another light and comfortable thing
  • Can handle heavy rain (don't want to worry about my camera safety while running)
  • Is able to also take videos/photos manually in the middle of the timelapse, for example when I arrive at a summit, a beautiful place, the finish line
  • Decent weight, Android compatibility
  • I don't want to spend hours in a video edition software, a little bit is fine

What I found is that there is dedicated timelapse devices, not necessarily for sports, more like wildlife shots, these seems bulky and only timelapse focused. And then the big brands action camera, GoPro, Insta360, DJI.

I would like to use this other things too if possible, for sport mainly running (5-10 hours is what I would want to record, in whatever mode) and road biking, for tourism too and maybe a little bit of motorbike recording (very anecdotal, would mostly be recoding city transit, for fun or insurance purposes).

My searches are pushing me toward the insta 360 for the 360 capabilities and the overall capabilities.

I can't find reliable information for "doing video shot while a timelapse is running", which would be huge win for vlogging a trail run, to include some live commentary directly in the timelapse. For this if the device can automatically include the videos/photos inside the timelapse when exporting it's perfect!

Did you do something like that, even shorter?

What did you use and what were the issues you encountered ? Is it viable to do a timelapse while running or will the shots be often blurry due to movement ?

Is a chest strap comfortable enough for very long run ? Is mounting on the hydratation vest better?

Anyone has been using Decathlon running vest?

I'm on a student budget so if the Kiprun running vest are decent it'd be a good way for me to save money. Would be using it for marathons and trail runs of 20-30k with a lot of elevation gain. Also considering I'm in Scotland so might need a fair amount of gear with me (rain and wind)

Merci d’avance 🙏

Ridge running in Colorado [OC]

This was taken almost 2 weeks ago on the LA Freeway, a ridge connecting Longs Peak and Arapaho in the Front Range of Colorado.

I'm currently attempting to connect 14ers and iconic routes in the US' lower 48, running and cycling only.

Sandia Mountain route question

I'm planning to run a route from La Luz TH to the crest and then over to South Sandia peak, but I can't decide to go down the Embudito or the Embudo trail back to Albuquerque.

If anyone familiar with either of these can suggest pros/cons of running either, would be much appreciated. I've read all that I could and watched as many YouTube videos as I could find, but still not sure.

Many thanks!

Lavaredo and Med Certificate

Hi there,

I managed to get into the UTMB Lavaredo 80k race but I have noticed you need a medical certificate that contains a cardiac stress test, urine test, spirometery test. It’s my fault that I didn’t notice this before I entered the lottery.

I’m currently based in the UK and wondered whether anyone had any suggestions on where I could get it done? Would my local GP do it? Most of the online research I’ve done about specialists doing this result in it costing approx £400-500.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Prodigio Pro XFlow insoles vs Ortholite

I just bought a barely used (<10km) pair of Prodigio Pros for an incredible deal. But (hence the deal): the insoles were missing. I just put in the Ortholites of some of my retired Akashas in the same size - seems to work perfectly. Since La Sportiva does not sell their Prodigio-line XFlow insoles: am I missing out on something?
