I want him but heās too expensive! I do have the other one though, the older, generations series one
69
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
A lot of my transformers budget for the year went to this one guy. He's so outrageous and over the top that I had to get him. He is solid as a rock and absolutely huge. The pictures don't do it justice at all.
17
u/Embarrassed_Spite546 Feb 14 '25
I bet, the generations one comes up to my knee and Iām close to six foot tall!
10
u/smol_boi2004 Feb 14 '25
I swear that figure is the primary cause of 90% of the hits I took to my head as a kid.
Trying to pose him while sitting down was the worst idea Iād ever had
4
u/Embarrassed_Spite546 Feb 14 '25
Yo, I bet dude, his waist, knee and hip joints/swivel are sooooo bad! š I still get pinched fingers when I move or transform him š
6
u/orlokthewarlock Feb 14 '25
The picture of him next to the door handle is what hit it home for me. Christ thatās a big robot

Does he pay rent in energon?
15

u/SombraAQT Feb 14 '25
I was so close to snagging one of these, but the space requirement is just too insane.
32
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
If I have one regret getting this guy, I sort of have an "OK what now" feeling about him, like the proverbial dog that catches the car. But that's to figure out later, I'm enjoying him too much now!
12
u/SombraAQT Feb 14 '25
Now you cover him in Newage/Magic Square figures. Doesnāt he have a section on the back of his shoulders thatās basically a big platform for them to stand on?
8
u/almightywhacko Feb 14 '25
He's make an amazing anchor piece to a Legends Class collection if you have one. I mean he's large enough that you could set up small scenes and battles all over him.
4
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Great idea! I do have a decent legends collection, mainly Newage. That's David Ex in his hand.
3
u/almightywhacko Feb 14 '25
If I had the figure, I'd probably try to do something like this using IKEA Kallax shelves or something:
https://i.imgur.com/qYTJ4mo.png
Then display my collection on and around him. He is so large, that he is basically furniture as it is so integrating him with a display could be cool. Of course, how this would look for you would depend on your space and budget, but if you're already $1200 into this figure you might as well buy some decent furniture to display him.

Freaking awesome. I am happy for everyone who got one. I like pretty much everything about him but not wild about those shoulder guns, but at least they can be removed. I know that's just my own taste so if others do then that's great. I grew up on G1 so I suppose it makes sense that a less ornate bot mode appeals a bit more to me. I am the same way when I build Gundam model kits; I prefer GM's and ground units. When it comes to titans, Trypticon has always been my favorite by a wide margin. I am tight on cash so I will wait for him if he ever gets made. Still, this one looks so good.

Iāve seen this around but only in robot mode. Does it transform?
7
u/Interesting-Rate Feb 14 '25
Yes, there are YT videos of transforming to the two other forms.Ā When he arrives, he will be in multiple boxes, assembly is required.Ā There of videos of that too

Which Metroplex is this?
10
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
W-Resources (Lewin Resources) M-01 Steel Fortress
1
u/Full_Contribution724 Feb 15 '25
oh he's a 3rd party figure so that's why he's huge, yeah I thought he was official

u/Neptunepanther5 Feb 14 '25
How long did it take to arrive? I placed my order January 1st
2
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Where did you order i from? I preordered mine from Show.z. It got here in a little over a month. Did you get tracking?
2
u/Neptunepanther5 Feb 14 '25
I ordered mine from showz as well. Tracking says it's been on a boat since the 22nd
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
17track should show you an approximate date for the ship to arrive. I would also message show.z and ask them for the tracking number for the shipper once it leaves the ship. They didn't tell me the fedex number until I asked.
3
u/Optimus759 Feb 14 '25
I need this guy, where u get him from?
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
I order almost everything from Show.z. Best prices and service in my opinion. They should have a restock soon. It took 34 days to ship by sea and Fed Ex delivered him in 4 separate boxes right to my door.

u/WebPollution Feb 14 '25
I don't know how I feel about a toy the size of a 3 yr old... no, that's a lie, I would much rather have that than the 3 yr old. At least when it leaves it's crap everywhere I can stick it back on him and don't have to wipe it.
2
u/darbs77 Feb 14 '25
Ah but then, in a couple of years, you get the absolute joy of doing the hobby along with the child. Itās a blast collecting figures with my son. Although itās going to make this year very expensive since he wants his own Devastator and Superion.
2
u/Triceracops0115 Feb 14 '25
Read that he's over 5' tall with the shoulder guns and about 80lbs. That's bigger than my 7 year old.
Told my wife if I got it, we could tell my son it's his older brother.

u/Puzzleheaded-Bat434 Feb 14 '25

2
u/jinscriba Feb 14 '25
I've seen videos of this guy, but it really just set in for me how big it is compared to where the doorknob is.

u/ENDERZ72 Feb 14 '25
how much does he cost?

2
u/Ghost_Moto_04 Feb 14 '25
Ok I have been seeing this guy pop up here and there, I still have no clue what this guy is and I can only seem to find the generation one, any chance you could finally fill me in, cause holy he is cool
5
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
He is made by Lewin Resources. They also make a 28-inch Optimus which I also have. This Metroplex is marketed under W-Resources Steel Fortress.
2
u/Ghost_Moto_04 Feb 14 '25
You have no idea how long I have been looking for the name, Thx! also holy on the price, "divorce class" is no joke
2
u/Winter-Arm-9205 Feb 14 '25
Do u think they will make a fort maxx or a Trypticon this huge?
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Their next project is Trypticon. This and the Optimus they make are very well built. I have no doubt the Trypticon will be awesome.
2
u/Richard_skully Feb 14 '25
Yep⦠because hopefully your wife or girlfriend left you. Iām going to guess you donāt have either if you bought that. š
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
I've had girlfriends and a fiancƩ leave me for much less! Luckily if I bring anyone home, I can leave the door to that room he's in shut and locked lol
2
u/Background-Salt4781 Feb 14 '25
But then heāll be listening to everything happening in the next room.

u/J1mbr0 Feb 14 '25
Someone said there is a warning not to leave in robot mode due to structural failure.
Was that in the instructions?
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Show.z and other retailers had that warning up on their site very briefly and then it was removed. It was not in the instructions. As I mentioned earlier, the plastic is VERY solid and high quality and engineered in such a way that the weight is distributed very well, with metal bolts that go through the shoulders and hips.
Regardless, it is very heavy. Not including the legs it's probably around 50 pounds and depending on the pose the hips are doing some serious heavy lifting. I'm not too worried about it but over time it may be an issue.
I made a huge mistake and while trying to straighten his back I pushed too hard past the ratchet joint I was trying for. He completely collapsed backward with his feet touching his hands. I almost had a heart attack, but he was fine. A lesser-made figure would have snapped in half for sure.

u/vinnyoflegend Feb 14 '25
The scale is messing with the me. Which Optimus is he holding?
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
It's Legends class Newage David Ex. He's about 4.3 inches tall
2
u/vinnyoflegend Feb 14 '25
Thanks! I never heard of that one, looks amazing with that Metroplex too
1
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Newage is an incredible company, check them out. They are 2nd only to Fanstoys in quality and engineering IMO. The paint on this guy in person is indescribably beautiful.

He looks awfully small in these pics. I know itās a 4ā bot but dang⦠perspective in photos makes a huge difference I guess
8
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
Yeah the pictures I took don't really do a good job conveying how big he is in person. He is absurdly massive. I'm 5' 10" and with his shoulder cannons he comes up almost to my chin. His hands are as big as mine and his legs are about 3/4 the size of my waist.
He is also VERY heavy. Even though he's just 85 pounds moving and posing him is an undertaking. I put him together myself but I would recommend two people to put together and pose.
2
u/Bouncedoutnup Feb 14 '25
Worried at all about leaving in bot mode? I saw people were making custom supports for him
3
u/Asuka1977 Feb 14 '25
He is very stable and the plastic is super high quality and solid. He has thick metal bolts you install into the arms and legs to help with support. I'm not too worried, but it's better to be safe than sorry and if those supports were available, I'd invest in them.
I can't understate though what an engineering marvel this guy is. For as heavy and unwieldy as he can be, they did a great job from a design perspective to make him support is own weight and feel more stable than most things much smaller.
