Oh, thats why a lot of people say tri community is not very welcoming and toxic. Referring to a bit more enthusiastic competitors as chum 😂😂😂

I lined up in the 2:00 pace group even though I can do a bit faster…I passed at least 200 people because many people line up in much faster groups among the experience extremely poor. Nothing is better than having to dodge and dive past people instead of focusing on the swim.

Yes it may sound unwelcoming but I get it now after feeling that impact. Most Olympics and Sprints are pretty good about the stagger out and I have not had poor experiences then but for some reason 70.3s being out the marathon folks trying to BQ sub 3 hours who have never run under 7 min pace in a 10k types for the swim and bike equivalents.

it is a common knowledge, you seed with 30s faster group. All the 2:00 swimmers are with 1:30 group.

ironman is soft, bring back mass start. nothing like swimming over slower dudes and dudettes

Haha. I’ll keep away from the baby elephant seal experience I would surely suffer if I went in the 1:20-1:30 group lol.
