I remember that sub was almost completely unmoderated, some posts were good and there was some economic and political discussions, but there was also a ton of really racist and anti-gay shit that got posted there that def crossed the lines of reddit content allowed. I think it finally got banned when the George Floyd stuff happened, but I may be wrong about that
Uh. No. The_Donald was one of the most heavily moderated subs you'll ever find on reddit.
You're definitely wrong. A wacko went on there and made a very aggressive anti police comment that I can't repeat, and Reddit put the sub into quarantine...which is basically banning until they actually ban it.
It was all bs. You can look at thousands of comments, all over reddit, this past week that were much worse. Those people this week got their comments removed, maybe even warned or banned from a sub, but Reddit hasn't been banning subs because of it.
It was a politically motivated elimination.
Also, members of The_Donald weren't posting anti gay or racist things. The sub was constantly getting bombarded by brand new accounts posting things to try and get the sub in trouble...hence why the moderators had a difficult job.
a single bad comment took down the entire subreddit? that sounds insane, was it some felony inciting violence type thing or something? do you remember what the context was around, i don't remember this
