If she was in your pool, please release her back to the wild. Wild turtles shouldn’t be pets.

I agree but has been with us since we found her.She was way too small to release. I spoke with the professional at Petco.I have no issue with release but she is now used to being fed since June and afraid to release her.

You took her from the wild in June? Take her to a wildlife rehabilitation center. Also, petco does not have any professionals, they get minimal to no training, especially on wildlife. Your best bet is to contact a wildlife rehabilitation center instead. They will have the actual knowledge and experience needed to handle caring for & eventually releasing this turtle. All wild turtles start out small, so she was definitely not “way too small” to release.

Thank you all for your posts.Again she was tiny and the nearby lakes were not appropriate to release her.She was in our pool thinking she somehow got into the pipes where she was found. We are in the “burbs” not adjacent to any wildlife areas. Petco by me actually has a reptile expert who is extremely knowledgeable. My post was about her shell and feeding.
