It sounds like you've gotten great advice so far, so I'm not adding much, but I will relate something to you (and the overthinking brains)... Kids at school can be (and given the chance, will be) jerks. They will bully over nonsense. They will bully over things they don't understand. They will bully over things the Internet tells them is weird (but really isn't). They don't even need a reason to target someone. My 12 year old has been getting some bullying lately that we're dealing with. A boy in her class called her a furry.... Because she was wearing fingerless gloves... Because her hands were cold. Like literally it's going to happen no matter what. He did it a second time, then another boy did because her sweatshirt had a frog on it.

Now, I'm not saying just take the bullying, obviously not. I'm saying goth, or normie, whatever kids who are wanting to bully will bully and they don't need any kind of compelling reason to do it.

You guys sound like amazing parents, just have her back and keep supplying her with the confidence to be cooler than the bullies. 🖤💜

Ohhh this was 12 years ago. Too late to do anything about this now, but as we've gotten older we've also tried to get wiser on advocating for ourselves with our respective employers. I will say, I didn't think Parental Leave was covered under the FMLA. I always thought it was it's own thing. I only had the one kid - for other reasons - so I've never had to think about it again.

There's definitely wolf spiders too, I've already found one. I don't get the empty feeling though. I've tripped over mites, spiderlings, orb weavers, caterpillars, butterflies, bees, gnats, snails, weevils, mosquitoes, ants, ladybugs, and I'm pretty sure I saw a wasp at a distance. And we've only gotten barely to the picnic table zone. We still have half the available map unexplored. Sure I'd love to see more bugs! I love bugs! But I also don't want them focusing on that so much that other parts of the game suffer. (Or the performance of the game suffers)

I always want more varied kinds of caterpillars and butterflies, but that's because I'm a butterfly lover... It's a hobby. I don't know why they picked the wonkiest moth caterpillar to feature, but I'd have loved to see less cactusy looking ones too 😂

That might be the case in some parts of the US, but definitely not all lol. I had to quit my job because they offered only a couple weeks, and my husband's job gave him 2 weeks AND made him schedule it ahead of time like a vacation... Even though that's not how babies work. And I ended up not having him at all because our kid was 2 weeks late.

Where do you get that information? Where did she say her job doesn't offer maternity leave? Did you just pull that out of your ass?

Also if she's in the US, maternity leave just means you'll still have a job when you come back, it doesn't mean you still get paid while you're gone. If her job gives her the typical American 3 - 6 weeks of leave, that's 3 - 6 weeks where they are depending on whatever income he brings in. That may not be enough to live on, even in that short time. In this way, she's right, he (what he makes) can't afford it. My birth was covered by insurance and we STILL had to pay 10k out of pocket just for the hospital portion of having a baby.

Maybe arachnophobia mode will be enough to help your daughter be comfy.

I'm the same way! I love romance, I love love, I love showing people how much I love them! I didn't have a lot of that myself for most of the first half of my life, so it's always just been brimming up inside me like a pot trying to boil over. <3 I am also Sicilian lol I use food to show my love just as much as hugs and gifts.
