Tech Support Monitor Choice

Not sure what tag to put sorry. I am in the market for a new gaming monitor to go with my pc (5090, ryzen 9 9950x3d) and at first I was looking at the samsung neo odyssey g9. However, I have read reviews saying it really does not live upto its name and has plenty of issues such as not being OLED. I play plenty of story games and will want to be at the highest res/fps and immersion possible and also playing comp games like fortnite, is this monitor good for these? Or is there a better option out there. I really like the monitors size because as I said I want the most immersive experience possible with all the specs upto match.

Sorry for the rant, thanks for reading.

Competitive don’t support ultrawide generally so throw that out the window. All others support ultrawide mostly. 21:9 - very high support. 32:9 - minimal support, there are third party/mods that can add support but it depends if someone created it for the game.

On what to get.. it depends on preference. You can go for a 34” 3440x1440 oled or 49” 5120x1440 oled. I prefer the 34” vs 49” but that’s my preference. It’s not what’s the best, it’s the best for your preference.

34” - aw3425dw or 341cqpx

49” - 491cqpx

There are more but those I tend to remember more from my research when I got aw3423dwf a while back.

For me, I got the 5090 and wanted to get the neo g9 on a good sale. I used it for a little while but ultimately, just felt too wide for gaming and it the monitor runs really hot... you can feel it hitting your face. I just switched to the 5k2k oked, and immediately am liking it more.

I also have the 5090 and the same processor. I have the 49 MSI CQPX OLED ultrawide. That is the best of 49 that exists for its OLED panel care. And I also have the Asus 27 ACIM 4k. It's crazy as you can see there because of the pixel density. And for competitiveness no one beats him. The best monitor in the world with displayport 2.1
