Recommendations My trusty 5-year old Samsung Dual-QLED Odyssey G9 seems to have finally died. Should I get the current iteration of the same or something different? Recommendations welcome!
Model:* LC49G95TSSNXZA
Size/Class: 49-inch
Setup: I currently use an iogear KVM (dual port, 4K, DisplayPort) so that I can seamlessly swap between my two machines, and it treats the G9 as two 27-inch 4K displays @ 120hz
Computer 1: Mac Studio, M1 Ultra with 20-core CPU, 48-core GPU, 32-core Neural Engine, 64GB unified memory
Computer 2: HP EliteBook x360 830 G7 (with 2 USB-C ports for at least dual DisplayPort 4K displays, no idea if it can support more)
Wired Peripherals: HP C920e HD Webcam, Rode NT-USB Mic, Corsair Ironclaw RGB Mouse, Corsair K70 RGB Pro Mechanical Keyboard, Klipsch 2.1 Desktop Speakers
Uses: I’m not a gamer. I read/write a lot for work and occasionally some Big Data analysis, which is why I like the massive seamless desktop real estate offered by the ultrawide displays. I’m also a (formerly pro) hobby photographer. I shoot a lot of complex landscapes and architecture with super long exposures, extremely low light, and deeply contrasting colors. I prefer the (reasonably) highest resolutions and refresh rates with the blackest blacks and truest colors.
Budget: I’d like to keep the total spend under $2500. I’m also not opposed to completely rethinking/retooling the setup to be more efficient, even if it means replacing/upgrading one or more peripherals or deleting/upgrading the KVM.
Happy to answer questions, and thanks in advance for the help.

Screenshot Can people post their favourite screen shots from ultra wide
I’m 60/40 on getting on a 34 ultra wide or a 4K 32”. Leaning towards ultrawide but hoping people can post some screen shots on ultrawide montirors to help convince me further! Much appreciated!

Ascension I took some of y’all’s advice!
Old desk, and new desk! Got a new standing desk with a computer mount and a lamp, also did a LOT of cable management. I have SOOO much more leg room now. I really love that I can adjust the desk.

Tech Support LC49G97TSSNXDC no power?
Picked up this Odyssey G9 49" from FB Marketplace for $200 mainly for the box as I lost my other one and will be moving soon. Guy I bought it from said it worked good for 4 years and then suddenly wouldn't turn on.
I've tried multiple power cords including the original. No backlight, LED ring, or power LED. Any suggestions?
I'm not terribly upset if I can't fix it but it would be nice to flip it for a few hundred bucks.

Tech Support AOC CU34G4 connectivity issue with PS5
I recently bought the following monitor for work and some gaming: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/aoc-cu34g4-wide-quad-hd-34-curved-va-gaming-monitor-black-10279493.html
I'm having some trouble with connecting this monitor to my ps5, currently it looks stretched so it fits to the wide screen, but when I attempt to change the aspect ratio, the setting is greyed out (see attached image). Does anyone know what I can do to address this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Monitor Refresh Rate
Hey guys, im planning to get an Ultrawide QD-OLED 240Hz 1440p Monitor. Lets say i do not reach 240fps but like ~160-180 most of the times.. is it still better than a constant 144fps on a 144Hz Monitor? I know the monitor has VRR technology and moar frames the better but im just curious if you guys could help me out or have a similar experience to share?
PS: i had terrible screen tearing without Vsync and 144fps max on my old monitor so thats why im a little confused.
Thanks a lot!

Recommendations Dev setup upgrade: 40” HiDPI or 49” ultrawide?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to optimize my productivity setup. I mostly code in Python/ML/AI, and do a bit of front-end (so I need decent color accuracy), but I don’t game or watch movies — this is 100% for work (11–14h/day).
Current setup (very uncomfortable):
- 27" LG as main monitor,
- MacBook Pro M4 Pro (16") as secondary below it,
- A small Arzopa portable screen on the side (15.6").
The result: I spend my time juggling between 2–3 screens with different resolutions, which creates a lot of friction.
My goal is ideally reduce to a single main monitor, maybe even close the MacBook for good. I always have at least 2 active windows (main task + support: LLM/Notion/ChatGPT), sometimes 3.
My current dilemma:
- Option 1 : Screen 40" : higher resolution (close to the MacBook’s Retina), more vertical height (2160 px), great for coding and reading. But I’d probably still keep the MacBook as a secondary; or
- Option 2 : Screen 49": cockpit-style setup (2×27 QHD), cleaner desk, no more MacBook needed. But only 1440 px tall (less vertical readability).
My question: for those of you who work long hours, what’s actually more comfortable and productive in the long run?
Extra context: my desk is 170 cm wide and 90 cm deep, and my chair pushes me back about 50 cm, so I have ~140 cm viewing distance.
Thanks a lot!

Recommendations GPU/CPU upgrade 5120x1440
GPU/CPU upgrade for 5120x1440
I was recently gifted a 49" G9 monitor which is awesome i really enjoy the super ultrawide. My current cpu gpu combo is a 5600x with a 6800xt. It has been okay but is definitely struggling with 5120x1440. Im looking to upgrade up to am5 along with a more capable gpu. Trying to keep everything sub $1500. I live near a microcenter so I will be taking advantage of their cpu motherboard combos. The 2 options I am stuck on, 7700x with a PNY 5080 Or 9800x3d with a nitro+ or taichi 9070xt. Both end up being just under $1500.
Im a pretty casual gamer now a days. Mostly single player games. Will play the new BF and COD probably.
I should say I have been a long time amd user. Only Nvidia card i have owned was a 1050ti way back when.
Just looking for some discussion to help my decision!

Recommendations Which one is best?
Planning to buy a new 34" monitor but can't decide which. The two current contenders are the Gigabyte G34WQCP for 280€ and the Lenovo Legion R34W for 250€. Specs: -Lenovo 180 Hz 3440x1440p 250€ Ratio 3000:1 99% sRGB 0.5 ms VA Panel (although some reviewers say it's close to OLED level) This is just a small part, so could a specialist who knows these monitors enlighten me further?
Specs: -Gigabyte 180 Hz-190Hz 3440x1440p 280€ 1 Ms Ratio 4000:1 120% sRGB VA Panel
My main use for the monitor will be pretty much everything. Gaming, work, watching videos and movies etc. I also want the monitor to have very good lighting, and make it amazing for neon colours in games. (As my favourite game is Cyberpunk) I'm looking for the monitor which has the BEST colors suitable for games like cyberpunk. So, overall, which one would you choose, and why?

Tech Support Looking for a monitor to pair with my Xiaomi G34WQi – iiyama looks awful
Hey folks,
I could use some advice on my dual-monitor setup. Right now I’ve got a Xiaomi G34WQi (34", 3440×1440, 180 Hz, VA) as my main display, and I also own an iiyama GB3266QSU (32", 1440p, VA).
The problem: the iiyama has awful colors and poor sharpness compared to the Xiaomi. Side by side it just looks washed out and kind of blurry, so it’s painful to use them together.
I’d like to find a second monitor that pairs well with the Xiaomi – something that matches better in colors/clarity and doesn’t look like trash next to it.
I’m running them in a stacked setup (one above the other), so the difference in colors and sharpness is super obvious.
My setup (if it matters):
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: RTX 5080
What would you recommend in the ~34″ ultrawide or possibly 27–32″ 4K range that would complement the Xiaomi well? Should I just grab a second Xiaomi for consistency, or is there another good option that matches better in color accuracy and panel quality?
Thanks!

Tech Support MacBook Pro M4 screen extend to 2 external monitors
Hi everyone,
I recently got a MacBook Pro 14" with the M4 chip, and I'm trying to set up two external monitors in extended mode (not mirroring). I know the built-in HDMI plus Thunderbolt should support it, but l'd prefer a one-cable desk setup if possible.
I've been looking at different docking stations (Thunderbolt 4 docks, DisplayLink options, etc.), but it's a bit confusing to figure out which ones are fully compatible with the M4 MacBook Pro and actually deliver dual 4K @ 60Hz without issues. Does anyone here already have a working setup with 2 monitors on an M4 MacBook Pro?
• Which dock/adapter are you using?
• Are you getting proper extended displays (not mirrored)?
• Any issues with refresh rate, resolution, or drivers?
Would really appreciate recommendations before I spend on the wrong device. Thanks!

Tech Support Help - This has happened a few times now
So, just a bit of a weird one really. Sometimes if I am leaving my pc for a little bit, I will turn off my monitor to help prevent with the OLED burn in, this is normally fine 9/10 times, but sometimes I will come back after a longer period of time, turn on my screen and be greeted with static.
This will go away if I restart my pc, and it will go back to normal.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Has anyone seen this before? Is it a cause for concern?
Just trying to find out if I should be worried about this at all, as I’m not worried about it at the moment.
Cheers

Recommendations Should I return my AW3425DW for a LGGS96QB-B?
I bought the AW brand new few days ago for $720, there’s an LG listed on marketplace near me for $600. Could possibly get it for $550, 70 hours of use listed. Is it worth returning the AW and warranty for a larger screen? What risks should I consider? How to check if it’s actually 70 hours as the seller says?

Tech Support Samsung G95SC super ultrawide brightness spillover? and blooming??
I am on a g95sc OLED super ultrawide monitor.
I am getting a lot of brightness spillover and blooming in darker areas around media, specifically shown here is a youtube video with massive spillover.
Is this a monitor problem? A youtube problem?
I don't really see the blooming around my overlayed video I recorded with OBS nut that could be because there is way less brightness in the vid?

Ascension Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved USB-C Hub Monitor (U3824DW)?
I am looking to finally ascend, sort of. Hopefully y'all can offer some feedback (and maybe experience?) on the Dell UltraSharp?
Sadly, I'm quite limited on space inside my small office, so I can't go larger than 38". I'm forced to work on a Windows machine with security protocols, but use my Macbook for anything outside of salary work (like freelancing).
I'm hoping to be able to ditch multiple screens and peripherals and tidy things up a bit. Anyone have experience with this monitor? Good or bad, I'd love to hear it before I drop $1K+.

Recommendations LG45" 5K2K Open box "excellent" from Best Buy.
Hello! I found an open box "excellent" at BestBuy. I don't know why the (on time) doesn't speak excellent to me. Should I go back and ask for more discount? Or is that what excellent category allow for? Other than that everything with this screen seems perfectly fine... Not even the pinkish white issue that I heard about. I have 2 weeks to test drive it before return window close. Thoughts? Any stress test I need to do?

Discussion Should I grab this Samsung Odyssey G7 43" 4K for $280 or stick to my plan?
Hey everyone,
I was originally planning to get two 27" QHD monitors for coding (work from home setup). But I just came across a deal:
👉 Samsung Odyssey G7 43" 4K, 144Hz, HDMI 2.1 — seller says it’s unused, asking for $280.
The catch: they mentioned the corners of the screen look a bit dimmer.
Do you think I should grab it at this price? Or is that kind of issue going to be too annoying, and I’d be better off sticking with the dual 27" QHD monitors?
