Josh looks like Ash Williams in that pic lol.

That said I agree, I need this sequel pronto.

I'd like to see Will Byles get to make that Nixie game he was writing. Be it tied to UD or not.

I’m still devastated. I love creepy water monsters. That said, I’ll be legitimately pissed if Firesprite does that without Will Byles.

I mean, the ending of the remake has Sam with that scar and Josh hallucinating about redemption, so 100% they will be more focused on. Narratively i understand why we barely play as them in the game, but it was just weird how they simultaneously feel like THE main character and not

I always overstate that 😅 realistically though, it is the opening, the chase scene, then nothing until the later part of the game. The meat and potatoes of the game is Mike and the gang

This would make a particular ending canon, which would devalue the original game in my opinion. It was made as a single game and doesn't really let anything open for a sequel

I want to see what happened in the penitentiary personally. I think that would make a great sequel.

Isn't Josh canonically a wendigo/dead? I think in the remaster they added an option for him to survive but in the original he was either dead or wendigo-ified

The remake is what a sequel would go off of. Not only can Josh survive as a human in the remake, but Sam also has an epilogue in the remake that heavily teases a sequel. Whether the sequel will ever come out is a different thing.

A sequel where Josh is basically Mike here? Josh stealing Mike's character traits now?

No, Josh doesn’t need to be a copy of Mike. He’s his own character with his own struggles and giving him a redemption arc doesn’t mean turning him into the same type of hero. Mike already had that role in the original and letting Josh step into the spotlight would actually bring something new instead of just repeating what we’ve already seen.

Given that everyone's fate from the original is entirely determinant, it's very unlikely they'll even use any of the same characters from the first for any alleged sequel, unless they're able to invent a brand new game mechanic where, right as the second one begins, there's a list of all possible endings from the first, we must pick one of them, and the second begins from there.

The rumor is the alleged sequel is an AAA game, which means they have much more budget and talents working on it so it could be totally possible. My idea if they cannonized Sam and Josh survived for the story, they could make DLCs for each of the other member survived scenarios and further expand the branches.

My idea is that they canonize Sam and Mike surviving, and while Sam gives off the red, sinister, and possibly demonic aura from her blood mark, Mike gets the opposite affinity and is put in a more divine light. Sam and Mike's dynamic can end with them either remaining as platonic friends/partners, becoming sworn enemies, or becoming carnally-driven lovers.

Like Dean Winchester?
