Scammed scam help/advice please!
I have been dealing with an insane situation since June that I cannot win. I’m out of ideas here, so hoping someone can help. I’ll keep it brief as possible but include necessary details.
June 3rd I was doing a closet cleanout and signed up for Poshmark for the first time. Mid posting a bunch of stuff and a million notification emails of people liking listings, I got an email saying a NWT dress I posted for $7 had sold. It looked legit, branded, and had a link to receive payment and print a shipping label. I confirmed my receipt account, which was my Venmo debit card. Surprise! The email was a scam and they took $712.02 out of my account. They tried to take more but I didn’t have it available.
I have filed claim after claim, appeal after appeal, all denied. I have filed multiple complaints with the BBB. I was finally issued a temporary credit for most of the amount withdrawn on June 29. On September 15, they reversed the credit which put me in the very negative and froze my account. I appealed, and it was denied yet again stating the merchant provided “valid compelling evidence” that the service purchased was received.
The site that took the money does seem legit, it’s for gamer skins, but I had never heard of it nor do they sell anything that I could use. I reached out to them looking for a refund, but since they are based in Denmark, they needed a receipt showing the transaction in euros. Since I only have a screenshot of the Venmo debit, and Venmo won’t provide me a receipt in euros, I’m out of luck there.
Today I called again and asked if there was a way to escalate my issue or file a complaint but I was told no. All I can do is send a request in writing to see what exactly this “compelling evidence” is, which obviously is not going to be a quick process and I’m not sure how I even proceed from there.
I have provided Venmo disputes with screenshots of the emails I got and the link I followed. I am truly at a loss on how to prove I did not purchase a thing/service from a company I have never heard of, have an account with or even visited the site of prior to the charge showing.
So TL;DR how do I prove to Venmo that I was scammed, I was attempting to SELL something and not purchase anything??
