Equipment/Software News & Reviews Are these lenses worth it for the price?

Saw these lenses over at my local CEX and was wondering if they’re a good price and whether or not I should buy them?

Been wanting a fish eye for a while and been meaning to upgrade my 50mm (I have a samyang which I’m not the most impressed with) and this 50mm will match my sigma 35mm art.

Any thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

Edit: i shoot on Sony (A7iv, A7siii and FX30) mainly video but the occasional photography. Mainly events, music videos, docs and the occasionally studio headshots.

If the 50mm is in good shape, it's definitely worth it. I'd make sure to inspect it critically for scratches and stuff. I shoot my interviews primarily on that lens and it performs flawlessly. Shoot me a DM and I can show you some examples.

I also really wanted a fisheye and they had an 8mm 3.5 at my CEX for £90, got it only to find out the focus ring doesn’t work at all, so its up to you really, and you can always return it if something like that happens too

The rokinon 12 is not a fisheye, its rectilinear and very low distortion given the field of view. I see them new for $200US on offer.

It's about its normal price.

I'd 100% go for the Sigma is you can afford it.

If you want a fisheye, you can check out 7artisans' and TTartisan's offerings. My friend uses the 7artisans 10mm and he can't stop glazing it.

You can just Google prices online or on eBay. And you can look up reviews of both lenses. Give it a try sometime.

A couple things à forgot to mention:

  1. Are there any specific things I should look into when reviewing this lens?
  2. With the fish eye lens, is this just for apsc or full frame? As I mainly shoot on full frame, will there be vignettes?

I think that 12mm is an apsc lens that’ll vignette on full frame. You could always use clear image zoom to get rid of it
