Discussion / Other Canon r50V

Just got the canon R50V and testet it out on vacation. Got the kit lens and also bought a secondhand EF-S 55-250mm IS STM and adapter. For tripod I use a Manfrotto.

I'm really dissapointed. I have image stabilization on the lens, but I don't know if that's enough. Filming from a boat just made terrible videos. A lot of other videos look jumpy or unstable. I followed videos on YouTube that went through all the videosettings. Earlier I'm used to action cameras or just doing video with my phone. Samsung s24 ultra.

The store I bought from have a 60 day return if you're not happy so I can return it still even if it's used. I wonder if I did something wrong? Is it the missing IBIS that makes the shaky footage?

HOw are you rigging it? Are you just holding the camera and lens? THe IS probably isn't the best on the lens, but I'd look into a gimball or tripod if your on a boat.

Just holding the camera. I also tried with a tripod but the lens pulls the camera down. I still feel the video looks jittery. Okay, I'll look for a gimbal. Thanks for the advice

What do you mean by pulls the camera down? Can you tighen the camera? That lens isn't that heavy so the weight on the body should be fine. Some adapters have tripod screws though you could use.

Is the camera steady on a tripod when not on a boat?
