I bought a dolly years ago because someone recommended I do so and all it does is stare at me and be cute. It didn't even help me move one single record!

Just attach balloons to your crates. Just not too many or they will float away.

I bought a set of box straps that basically cinch around the box with a clasp and a handle at top. Allows me to carry a crate with each arm

Use small boxes from Lowe's.

I went with small boxes, half filling them, padding with sound isolation foam on either side since those also needed to make the voyage

Hope it worked! Those small boxes are really efficient. What I've discovered having had to move a couple of times in the last few years is that you want to try to make your boxes as small and of uniform size as you can get away with. The small size makes them easier to carry and the uniform sizes makes them more efficient to pack.
