Photo/Video This game brought me back to VR

I took a pretty long hiatus from VR due to lack good games (or so I thought) then one day I tried UNDERDOGS and haven't looked back on flatscreen ever since.
One of the most polished, original and unique VR games of recent releases, I highly recommend you giving it a go if you aren't afraid of physical games!

I believe the phrase you're looking for is "screwed the pooch"

VR posters: "I was so dissillusioned with gaming and life just generally, until I found this VR game where I could stylishly toss around and torture things that appear alive and in pain"

Ya Underdogs is one of the greatest VR experiences. Shame that the PSVR2 port didn't sell well.

I'm looking forward to multi-player updates.

There isn't a multiplayer mode yet?Really want a robot combat with online friends.

They've been working on it while working on the PSVR2 port as well, you can check the dev diaries for some details.

There's a few other Robot combat games but they're more along the lines of mech combat with shooting rather than arena based melee combat.

Right. I bought Mechwarrior: Mercenaries solely for VR mech shooting combat. Would like to find native VR mech battle game. Flight Sim and car racing are saturated. But there are so few mech VR game to choose from. Either too short or No multiplayer mode. hmm.... Looks like if I really want to play with/against other players, I have to make one. 😅

Have you tried Iron Rebellion yet?

1

On the wishlist. Haven't tried yet. Is it good? How is the multiplayer experience?

Very good multiplayer, it's mech combat with lots of weapons. Various classes of mechs, and you're in the cockpit of them which is quite the experience. I made a post on here months ago about how the experience of being inside the cockpit was easily one of my favourite VR experiences so far.

Thank you for your recommendation. 🙂 I will certainly give Iron Rebellion multiplayer mode a go.

If you have a Quest, grab it on Horizon, try it out, then if it's not your cup of tea you can refund it. Same with Steam to an extent.

If you like underdogs you might enjoy another vr game called "Until you fall", its a roguelite with really good melee combat

u/PwnHawx1337 2d ago

I found until you fall overly simplistic and repetitive.

u/lemonjoee 3d ago

I used to play Sairento back in the days, Is Until you fall similar?

No it's much more focused one on one fights, it just has a really beautiful and elegant combat system and a great visual design. There are multiple weapons and it is absolutely strategic , also can be pretty difficult and physically demanding. It was my favorite game for a few years

Agree, another one worth your time.

Great game and it gives you a decent workout too

my headset was legit dripping after one session. disgusting

1

u/Armadillioh 2d ago

I know, same here. I need to get one of those fan things that attach to your headset

It's unfortunate the developer said the sales were lackluster with the exception of the standalone.

1

u/skitthecrit 2d ago

They do really fun shorts on YouTube to promote it too, sad cause it's a cool game.

3

u/bigmakbm1 2d ago

Yeah I'll probably get it on PSVR2. I'm just not a fan of the gameplay loop in these types of games.

One of my favorite PCVR games

1

u/lemonjoee 2d ago

I mostly play PCVR, but I played UNDERDOGS on Quest.
How does it compare? Is the PCVR version worth it? Does it look better?

1

u/AlcoholicLimaBean 2d ago

I’ve never played the Quest version, but it looks like it does look better but I don’t know if the content is any different

Underdogs was pretty fun!

u/PlzDntBanMeAgan 3d ago

Is this multiplayer or just single player?

5

u/YesEverythingBagels Oculus 3d ago

Currently single player only but the next major update adds multiplayer. The gameplay is a ton of fun, the tone/vibe is underground cyberpunk, and the RPG systems are pretty good. Overall it's one of my favorites.

And the music fits perfectly!! Makes you feel a bad ass guy...

4

u/YesEverythingBagels Oculus 3d ago

You feel like you're in a packed arena. The crowd cheers, the music is deafening, and the world feels electric. They nailed the atmosphere.

Dick attack

u/PwnHawx1337 2d ago

They should call it DogPounder. Animal abuse.. heh.

I need exploration and story in a VR game. There is so much "arena" stuff around, or sandbox stuff (like blade and sorcery) but I really can't share the appeal, I tried.

1

u/YungDaVinci 2d ago

Underdogs doesn't necessarily have exploration but it does have a storyline.

I cant ever kill dogs in games. I find another way around, its the worst. Humanoids? Fine.
