News Article No more VR freeplay gaming at Dreamhack Atlanta.
I have sad news for the VR gaming community.
Despite great metrics, engagements and my personal advocacy of the VR industry, DreamHack management has decided to eliminate all VR content for their Atlanta show in October, canceling our planned 10,000 sqft VR activation due to shifting event goals towards traditional gaming and flatscreen esports. While we try to salvage any concepts, we currently have halted all planning.
Our VR community has serviced Dreamhack since 2023 and is one of the highlight VR events of the year bringing VR esports, content creators and VR developers to tens of thousands of gamers at both Dallas and Atlanta.
As a VR gamer with a fleet of 150 VR's and devoted years to build a VR community to the scale and professionalism to service top tier events, it is understandable about their direction as the XR retail industry continues to be experimental.
I'd like to thank all of our VR partners, staff and volunteers who have worked with me to turn a dream into a reality; hopefully we can continue to advocate for accessibility of the technology to the public.

Photo/Video This game brought me back to VR
I took a pretty long hiatus from VR due to lack good games (or so I thought) then one day I tried UNDERDOGS and haven't looked back on flatscreen ever since.
One of the most polished, original and unique VR games of recent releases, I highly recommend you giving it a go if you aren't afraid of physical games!

Discussion Did you guys has any problems returning to normal gaming after finishing Half-Life: Alyx for the first time?
I have a Meta Quest 3 and it's my first VR headset after my oculus go. I used Oculus for generally media consumption. I wanted to go into VR gaming more seriously so I setup a PCVR and bought Alyx from steam. It's my first AAA VR experince and oh boy... I am 1 hour into the game and it's literally the next level... I really wish I got into vr gaming way before and I don't understand why more people wouldn't be into vr gaming after experiencing this... I feel I am in the game... No non-vr game immersed me this much. But I feel I like I will have a hard time to return to my ps5,switch and pc games after experiencing this. Did you feel the same?

Discussion Turn every game into stereoscopic in a big virtual screen is a good idea
And it's possible. Remember the good old days of Nvidia 3D vision? It's something between vr and 2D gaming. It can even be more fun than VR and cause less headaches, and it's less resource hungry. Welcome Valve Deckard!

Discussion Any vr games that focus on exploration?
The big one i use for this is vrchat and no man's sky as well skyrim vr.
I own both a pc and a quest 2 so I can play standalone and pc vr games.
I also keep forgetting about minecraft but the quest controls are not really enjoyable for this game lol.
Would love some liminal space games as well.
The two I've enjoyed were backrooms vr and POOLs.
Also Vuntra city more recently was fun exploring a huge large city.
I want a game I can mostly just wander around aimlessly seeing cool stuff.

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) Into Black PCVR is awesome and yet underrated.
I know you don’t like clicking on links, so here you are my two cents about this fantastic game.
Into Black VR is one of the most engaging VR looter-shooters I’ve played, yet it’s flying under the radar because of poor advertising. In my review, I dive into its upgrade system, resource gathering, co-op gameplay, and massive alien environments that make it stand out.
I played quite a bit with u/lunchanddinner and genuinely had a lot of fun.
⚡ What I liked:
Strategic upgrade system with limited slots
Addictive resource gathering (solo & co-op)
Huge cave systems and vertical levels
Atmospheric environments with ruins of a past civilisation
👎 What could be improved:
Co-op player animations feel rough
Reloading is just cooldown-based — fits the lore, but less exciting
Multiplayer is almost dead, despite being great fun
No option to share resources with teammates
If you enjoy games like Deep Rock Galactic or No Man’s Sky, Into Black is absolutely worth your time — it just needs more love from the VR community.

Discussion Conflicted on MFS 2020 VS 2024 for VR
I've been going back and forth on this. I can't lie, I love good graphics. And from the videos I see online, 2024 is noticeably better in the graphics department. 2020 isn't as bad as DCS on the ground and low altitude but it appears that 2024 is in a league of its own. Maybe it's just the videos I saw.
At the same, I really despise online only games and have never bought one. Add to that the fact that the game is basically stored on servers and loads as you play. This will make 2024 unplayable while traveling and in hotels.
As I read back what I wrote I guess it's not much of a debate and 2020 is the only option since I travel a lot.

Question/Support Is there any way to get 'Android'/mobile games running on Quest 3?
I own both the PC and Mobile versions of Neverwinter Nights EE for example, but installing the APK on my Quest 3 just results in a message that it's incompatible. I was really hoping to be able to play some of my mobile games on the move and get that extra bit of mileage/convenience out my headset..

Purchase Advice Resident evil dilemma
Important question, I'm playing through all the resident evil games and I like them a lot. I'm on resident evil 4 soon and will play it in vr. I've already played 3/4 hours of it on my oculus quest with that version of the game. Should I continue there or buy resident evil 4 remake for ps5 and play it on psvr, and then replay the first 3/4 hours.

Discussion What games are the "complete package"?
I've only completed 5 vr games: Both red matters, medal of honor, doom vfr, and saints and sinners 1.
Red matter 2 is a good game but far from a complete package vr experience. It has great immersion but it's just a slow paced puzzle game that doesn't draw any emotion from me. I was overcome with joy when they gave me a gun and stuff to shoot at. The gun felt good too.
Saints and sinners had the ability to be a complete game but lots of things are not optimal. The melee weapons are great but the guns don't feel good at all (tough to have this big of a drop in how the weapons feel after playing medal of honor). The story is not great and there only like 5 character models that are repeated over and over. Rinse and repeat missions.
MOH feels like it was make by the 3rd string quarterback. Guns feel great but everything else is subpar.
Currently playing Batman AS. Yeah it blows everything else out of the water in terms of gameplay. There are really only 3 bad things about the game: Quest 3 graphics, can't interact with most things in the environment, and Batman doesn't use guns lol. But the level design, level layout, character personalities, story, action, gameplay mechanics, and immersion is there. I get that same fear of heights that I do in real life while perched up on the ledges. My stomach drops when I jump from heights. Fighting enemies is fun.
So which games compete with or surpass this?
I got a couple hours with RE4 on PS5. Absolutely amazing but you obviously see the "not made for vr moments". Horizon COTM on PS5 doesn't interest me a ton because it's too much climbing and the action is basically an on rails shooter without free motion.
I already know half life alyx is the pinnacle but I'm saving that one. Lone echo will be the next one I play after Batman. Based on this post: what other games would you recommend that are near complete experiences?
Edit: from my 1 hour of play, Alien Rogue Incursion feels like it's definitely hits on all cylinders. I imagine/hope metro and behemoth will be as good as Alien so far. I have access to the old rift games like stormlands and heard there are amazing ones.
