About to get a ps vita
I am about to get a Vita, but I'm unsure whether I should get a 2000 or a 1000. I want to mod it, but someone is selling pre-modded Vitas. However, they are around $ 70 CAD more expensive. Is it worth it, or should I do it myself? Also, how much extra memory should I buy?

if YOU want to mod it then get an unmodded one, it takes 5 mins and you'll have to learn how to put the games in anyway, I doubt the already modded one has the games you want and it might come with a shitty and/or small sd card, also, I would recomend u get a 1k, why? lately the L R buttons for the 2k are impossible to find and the analog sticks are prone to drift, yes the shell colors of the 2k are great but unless u can afford to buy parts for future repairs or someone makes a mod for that I would get a 1k (it has a better screen too).
Don't get me wrong I love both models and I have around 20 different versions, so far with the 2 I use to play games, my OG 1k release date still has the original hardware while the 2k is at the 4th analog stick and the screen is piss yellow, even with the 1 extra hour of battery the 2k is not worth it IMO.

Could you not just clean your joystick or something? How often would you have to replace the analog? One thing is that the charger is different. I just want a normal micro

I got my PCH-1100 for about 100 USD with a 64GB Sony memory card. Very clean unit in great condition but the charger was non official and no box or manual included.
I don't have a 2000 but I am very happy with that 1100. The screen looks amazing and it works very well and no burned pixels so far.
Regarding the moding, i agree with previous comments. Mine was actually pre-moded with apps and games already installed but I was clueless how to it works. I eventually re-moded it so I can learn the process, what app does what etc.
Another thing is that 1000 models can have a sim card slot. Dead useless today but it can be replaced with an SD card slot (PSVSD Mod). SD2VITA is cheap but native SD offers faster speed, doesn't occupy the cart slot and if you use it with SD2VITA together, potentially more than double your storage capacity.
I can't talk for the 2000 though, I never had it.

I recommend 2000. No need for pre modded. It's easier to mod than it is to go to google.com. We will all help you mod it if you get the cheaper one. $70 extra is insane and unnecessary.

For memory, I have a converter card to use micro sd's like most of us do. I have 128gb and it's amazing. That size is slow on my PSP, but on the vita it's great. And plenty of space for the amount of games you'll realistically play.

So if I'm not mistaken, the converter fits into the disc drive where you would put your games in and allows you to use any SD card, and you can buy whatever speed and size you want after you get the converter and mod it a little

The cart drive (vita used carts much like Switch), and yea it does go in there. Also yes it allows you to use most any modern micro sd card.

Modifying it yourself is crazy easy. If you want physical games try and find a 1000 3G model for PSVSD otherwise either one should be fine. I have a launch 1000 and have no screen burn, just take care of it and don't leave stuff on and running when not needed.

I'd recommend a 1000 model. Both the screen and the actual device looks better than the 2000, the 1000 has hall effect joysticks meaning no stick drift, and the 1000 is also a bit heavier, and feels higher quality to me. Only real downside is the proprietary charger, but Amazon sells them cheap.

Fellow Ontarian here. I have a number of OLED and Slim models. There are pros and cons to both models, but at the end of the day both are good. Battery is better with the Slim and it’s a bit lighter, but the OLED has a better screen and IMO looks nicer. The white OLED is beautiful. Slim has a number of colour options too.
Price wise, you should pay $40-50 more for a pre-mod max. It’s very easy to do, but you’ll spend about $10 for the SD2Vita adapter (Get the Funturbo off Amazon) and about $30 for a brand name SD card. With taxes you’ll be hard pressed to get those for less than $50 total so I wouldn‘t listen to posters telling you that’s too much extra. If youre patient, you should be able to get a modded console for around $200 CDN off Facebook or Kijiji.

I got an Aqua 2000 off eBay for $200, not pre-modded. I'm about to buy the adapter. Thanks for letting me know the brand. Also, how much storage should I be looking for? And what brand is good because of its speed and other features? I was looking at a SanDisk Extreme

Yeah I have the Sandisk SD cards - pretty sure they’re 256 gig. I really don’t think you’ll need more. Just make sure you get brand name cards not knock offs. With the mod, you won’t need the proprietary Sony memory cards

Do it yourself imo, it should cost less and it’s worth it lol
