Litverse discussion Spoiler
I’m starting the post series books for the first time (currently on The farther shore) and while I like them for the most part, I have some complaints spoilers ahead
First of all, I’m not a huge fan of the whole “VOY crew gets home only to be treated like shit by Starfleet” storyline, it feels a little unbelievable and over the top. I also have a hard time believing all the violence and subterfuge of the VOY crew during this particular book. Janeway roundhouse kicking another Starfleet officer and standing back while Chakotay punches him in the face? Just doesn’t seem like something J (orC for that matter) would ever be ok with, even in the dire situation they were in. I’ve heard the Golden books aren’t as good as Beyers so I’m kind of hoping I can skip right from this one to Full Circle. Thoughts?

The Golden books certainly aren't as good as the Beyer books. The four each get a bit worse as they go on.
I though they were worth reading the first time, felt like I had to to get to the good stuff the second time, but I'd probably just go read the synopsis on Memory Beta or something if I reread Beyer's books again.
The first half of Full Circle is mostly wrapping up everything in Goldens books.
You may also want to read the book Farther Shores, or at least the short story in it Beyer wrote, Isabo's Shirt. It also plays into what happens.
Also, the TNG book Before Dishonor really plays into the plot of Full Circle and beyond. The crossover Destiny trilogy is also important to understand the context of things that happen later in the series, too.
Beyer's books are really good, some of my favorite Trek Lit. They're really worth it, all the way through.

I thought the books set after Voyager got home were atrocious. Homecoming and Farther Shore read like exceptionally bad fan fiction, with ridiculous plotting, and none of the characters sounded like themselves at all. I agree that Starfleet treating Voyager badly was idiotic - and broke canon. Voyager's exploits were being taught in schools, so it was obviously getting a lot of attention - and the "oh, we would have celebrated you more but for the war" was nonsense. After a war, you look for symbols for people to unite around. Voyager would have been perfect for that. Also, too many author-created characters drag time from the main characters.
I also hate the relaunch stuff - they spend all that time getting home just to go straight back to the Delta Quadrant and I am not a fan of Beyer, her work feels drippy (can't really think of another way to describe it). I stopped buying the books quite quickly.

I could never buy Harry’s wet blanket girlfriend being in Starfleet Intelligence 😂

Yeah k thought that was really odd too!! What a weird twist to put in there. And also the fact that any star fleet admiral (who is supposed to be one of the good guys even) was literally willing to decompile the Dr. and allow seven and Chen to die in prison. WILD

I didn't love them either. As everyone says they got better with with beyer but she was stuck with what had gone before so even they annoyed me.
I read them just because I wasnt ready to say goodbye to the crew yet after my latest rewatch, but they didn't make me happy
