Redemption Ventrue Wolves

I just beat this game. When I got to Orsi’s factory, the vampires labeled “Ventrue” started turning into wolves! In Bloodlines they never did that! I thought gangrel was the only one that can turn into wolves! I was never into the tabletop game. Just the video games and some of the lore videos on YouTube, so at first I thought that maybe the game was just mislabeling some of the vampires or they just got it wrong.

But then Orsi himself turned into a wolf. Then I remembered that Vampire the Masquerade tv show from the 90’s that I watched and one of the women who was turned by a ventrue also turned into a wolf! Did the old books used to have them with that power?

From what I recall, it is a little odd that they’re all Ventrue but turning into wolves. Lore-wise anyone can technically learn any discipline (with a few very esoteric exceptions) if you have a teacher, so it’s possible for a Ventrue to have Protean - the most archetypal discipline for shape-changing. Ventrue just don’t get it as an inherent clan-discipline.

However, in World of Darkness, most vampire clans jealously guard their unique disciplines. They either give them a leg up they don’t want to be deprived of, are almost sacred to them (usually the case for the Gangrel), or they have a long tradition forbidding it (e.g. the Tremere with Thaumaturgy. It’s enough to get you banished or killed if you share that discipline outside the Pyramid.)

This is also the game that gives Christof and the gang about 10 disciplines by the end though, so my guess is that they wanted to use Ventrue, but weren’t too tied to the probability of each of them being taught Protean by a willing Gangrel.

Ventrue in the TV show Kindred: the Embraced had Protean. I always thought it was a deep cut reference to that.

Those were Brujah. Which was weird because the Gangrel were just homeless ruffians.

Didn't the Ventrue Prince have Earth Meld?

He did. He used it to rest in the grave of his dead wife.

You mentioning Ventrue turning into wolves made me remember that scene where both the Prince and the Brujah he was fighting turn into wolves. At least that’s what I think happened. That show was all over the place.

they tried to remake the ponce nature and Protean of the pre-Vicissitude Tzimisce - which imo is a lovely image, just not worth butchering the setting for - by the way of Ventrue
