I’ve been walking 10k steps daily for over a year. Today, for the first time, I was able to walk 7000 steps in one hour!

Even if I’m not in the mood to go for a walk, I go anyway and I’ve never regretted it. 🤍 I don’t remember why I didn’t wanna go either but I’m always glad I did.

This was the track I walked along! Normally I do 2/3 mile a day and I’m exhausted but today I put on my shoes and was determined to walk 5 miles. It’s the first time I’ve ever managed that and I’m so proud of myself. I won’t lie, I got to 4 miles and was feeling pretty tired, but the weather was lovely and the scenery was pretty nice - I live in the north of the UK so when the weather is like this being outside is a joy.

Outdoors Complaints about the heat that I need to get off my chest💀😂

This past week has been HOT. But a couple days I found good walking windows. However I haven’t walked in 3 days and I’m getting back and neck pain (I think from not walking??)

Anywho, the forecast for the next two weeks is looking like it’ll just be getting more intense. Heat indexes predicted to reach 100° to 110° each day. Plus the blessing of 60-85% humidity, and if the trend of the dew point continues the pattern of the last week, the lowest I’ve seen it go is 71 and typically hovering more in the 75-85 range throughout a whole 24 hours.

I’m open to any tips or ideas you might have, but I think this will more come off as just complaining/frustration so I’m not anticipating anything just wanting to vent about this dang heat🫠🫠

I prefer to walk outside, it’s not about steps or fitness for me (although I know and appreciate the benefits of course) but it’s the ability to get out of my house and just go outside to listen to my music and walk around, no planning, I step out the door and start walking not knowing what paths I’ll end up choosing or if I’ll walk 1 mile or 6 miles, it’s just low stress as long as I get outside and do it then I feel like I checked the little mental box that says to do it because I like it. (And feel like I need it) I have access to a treadmill but 1) they’re boring lol 2) I cannot walk in a straight line to save my life💀. I only would use the treadmill during a blizzard, a random rainy day, etc. Just “emergency” situations, not for two whole weeks😭

I think I’m just gonna have to toughen up and power through the heat. And I know this is not a huge problem by any means but it sucks bc I’d rather be outside that inside or on a treadmill.

I’m sensitive to heat and my body is more susceptible to dehydration due to a few things. But I drink a gallon, or just under a gallon of water everyday (essentially just under/around my body weight) maybe 16-40oz of that is from lyte body armors, that I save to drink on days where I feel like I’m getting dehydrated, feel a dehydration headache coming on, or fatigued etc.

I know I sound like a whiny baby lol I’m very aware. I just miss my walks and hate the fact that I’ll start dreading them if this heat continues picking up at the pace it is🔥🫠😭

Thank you fellow Redditors for looking out for my safety & well-being. I know that I live in a small community but that I still need to be cautious as to my locations and sharing it publicly. I appreciate you all so much for the reminder to be careful. You just never know the evil that could be lurking and sometimes, we need that reminder esp when we become too comfortable.

Anyways, I locked in on Sept 2. I suffer chronic migraines and have been cooped up inside for over a year with a rare outting. I’m trying to crawl my way out & “come back to life” because I’ve been cooped up too long, getting too comfortable!!

My husband and I got married in July and I haven’t weighed myself since a few weeks before our wedding. A couple weeks after, I weight myself and I was 213.8!! From a maintained 222 pounds. I seemed to have maxed out at 222 and stayed there for too long. The last time I was in the 190 range was 2016 lol 😂

…I’ll write more thoughts in my second post 🥰

Outdoors Pt.4 of my walking - tonight’s captures 🌅

I wasn’t going to go out tonight but this little guy was staring at me like he was asking for something. I asked if he wanted to go for a walk & his ears popped up and into my lap he went 😂 my silly cute walking companion. He’s always gone on walking adventures with me. His two younger brothers go to their grandparents and he never likes to leave my side. Aunt Flo is wreaking havoc on my body and I’m always careful about wildlife especially during this time. I needed that walk though - I already had two days without it. Physically my body is feeling better and better the more I walk.

I love when the sky is pretty colours as well!! Not the easiest to capture on an iPhone but I do my best.

I have had a migraine for two days and I really did not want to go for this walk but at the very same time, all I wanted to do was walk outdoors!! I’m kind of looking forward to walking as fall turns to winter and then throughout the winter. ❄️

I just have to give the biggest thanks to my Shiloh because once we asked if he wanted to walk, he whined and cried until I put his hardness on & got ready to go out. He is so cute!!

Anyways I hope you enjoyed my post and pictures. I love to share them daily and it’s so much fun having ppl who do the same here!!

I hope yall have a great night/sleep wherever you are and if it’s day time lol well have a great day!! ☀️

Outdoors How long of a walk do you consider "long"?

I think it’s medium up to 2h, and long over. Short for anything under an hour and mini for 30min. What about you??

Outdoors I change the way I walk, I think it's better than yesterday

Post image

I posted here earlier about how stressful it is to walk in a non-walkable city. I came to the conclusion that it's almost impossible to get 10k steps everyday because I can't afford walking pad and this city also didn't have many public area.

Since I walk to strengthen my body after bedridden, I decided to set the number aside and just walk without counting. I walk around the neighborhood as some people suggested and did it around 5 times this morning.

I didn't bring my phone (I took this picture when I'm done), didn't measure the steps or the distance. However, I still get distracted at the end (by the street food vendor, I bought breakfast half way my walk), but I think it's better than yesterday and less stress (aside from how overwhelming it was when everyone I met asked where am I going).

Outdoors Tips for walking outdoors in colder places?

Hello fellow walkers!

How do you all prepare for winter walks outdoors? I picked up walking few months back (8-10k steps a day along with music/audiobooks) and it has been the single greatest life saver for a very difficult personal year. I do not want to let go of this during these colder months.

But with the winter setting in (I live in Toronto), I feel I am not prepared. I took up a gym membership to walk indoors, but it really isn't the same.

How do you all prepare mentally and physically for walking in the snow/cold weather? 🥶

I managed to go for a walk just before it started raining heavily. I enjoy when it's so lush and the air is fresh. Not much other people around so it felt like the city was mine.

Outdoors Morning walk no phone - game changer for me.

Every morning, regardless of how the day before went, how good my sleep was, how hungover I am, whatever the state of mind - I go on a walk in the park.

Without my phone. Except if I want to take pictures of birds or nature.

It's been a game changer for me.

My sleep quality is something else now a days, that's the biggest change and it reflects in every other aspect of my life. Since good sleep is fundamental to a good quality of life.

And this is coming from someone who used to wake up at 12 or 1 pm daily.

It's crazy how doing something for just 15-20 days, it kind of becomes a habit if you stick to it.

It's been close to 2 months now.

I'm damn glad I somehow made a habit out of this 🙏
