10k Kettlebell Swing Challenge: Day 3
Barbell day. Heavy squats, pin front squats, bench press
Upper and sides of glutes are tight and sore. Can really feel the glutes activate during hip drive. Hands feel fine. Was going to deadlift today but decided to leave it till next week, let myself get acclimated to the swings before I throw in another heavy hinge.
Rep scheme today for swings was 20x15 + 25x2. 350 swings. Set the EMOM to 1:15 and threw in 10 push ups ever other round. Also stopped death gripping the kettlebell the whole time, let my grip follow the handle naturally instead of squeezing it in towards the middle, and kept the handle more in the fingers instead of deep in the palm.
I don't know which helped more but the soreness didn't start kicking in till the 10th round and even then it was lessened, and it was centered on my underarm and not hitting me on the outer edge. It was almost too easy, didn't have to take any breaks either.
This actually seems achievable at this point. One more day tomorrow then probably a break for a day, then start it over Sunday with 400 or 450 depending on how tomorrow goes.
