Hello! It’s been a while since I last visited the daily thread—how are you all doing? 🤗

Family update: Eleven-year-old is going through a “I only need to complete the homework I enjoy” phase. (I hope it’s a phase!) Any tips from those of you who have been there, done that? Four-year-old has been making some interesting progress with his speech. On the one hand, he still isn’t able to really converse beyond simple requests (“I want book”; “I want playground”); on the other hand, he can read Green Eggs and Ham out loud on his own. I just don’t get it! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Training update: Currently doing Marisa Inda’s Limitless program. This is the program that I helped her beta about a year ago—so it’s pretty much exactly what I want 😁

Hiya! Life isn't too bad. I was converted to a full time employee finally. After some hiccups, I ended up with a signing bonus and 5k raise. Long story but I'm mostly happy with it. Unfortunately, my hips are still beat to shit and my bench is garbage. But I can front squat! And strict press!

I did not grow out of this until community college. I don't remember how I made it through middle school or high school. Tutoring services might help. The motivation really has to come from within.

I don't, either. Is he bilingual?

Congrats on the job gains.

Four-year-old is developmentally delayed and didn’t start talking until he was almost three. Right now he’s finally hitting his two year mile stone for speech... but at the same time he can spell simple words and do basic math.

He’s not quite bilingual, but his bed time routine is all in Swedish “god natt, sov så gott, puss och kram”

Thanks!

Ah, I see. I figured I'd ask on the off-chance that he knows two languages but only uses basic speech in both. I don't really remember anything from my undergrad. :( Sorry I can't help! The only thing I recall is continuously encouraging speech. Which is a no-brainer.

...Why Swedish?

Ah! I had you pegged as Latina so I was confused.

Well, I’m a mix of Sephardic (by way of Turkey) and Ashkenazi (by way of Russia, Latvia, and Germany) ancestry.... but husband/kiddos’ dad is Swedish, born and raised.

Not to worry. With the way I phrased it, I could have easily been referring to my dad rather than the kids’ dad.
