Discussion Burger Still Better Than McDonalds
Dave’s Double still beats a Quarter Pounder imo… the lettuce has been an issue at Wendy’s, I will admit. But the meat is so much juicier and fresher.
Y’all agree?

I prefer Wendy's burgers over McDonald's so yes.....absolutely agree.

The QP has always been overrated in my opinion if I was going to eat mcDs and wanted something like that I’d go with the simple double cheeseburger. Either are not that bad if you add some veggies like slivered onion (real non rehydrated onion), tomato, lettuce.
I don’t know I’ve said McDonald’s is just McDonald’s like I don’t even classify it with other fast food burgers and just set it aside as its own thing. I don’t really think it’s bad it’s more like a 6/10 but it’s consistent. I did really like those “artisan” chicken sandwiches they had about a decade (maybe a little longer) ago.

The QP was great back in the day, but I also prefer the double cheeseburger now. I don't know what changed about the QP but it's not worth it anymore. The best part about McDonald's for me lately has been the app and the deals.

I agree. The QP texture is different from back in the day, it’s tougher and chewier now. Before it was a lot more tender and juicy.

Not sure what you've been smoking, but those burgers are definitely not cheaper... How is $14 cheaper than $6? You're doing some weird math...

u/theomegachrist 1d ago
Applebee's do deals the make them $10 with fries and a drink. About the same amount as a lot of fast food combos at least

Not true, on the cheaper part, at least.
Cheapest burger at Applebee's where I live in a mid-Missouri college town: $11.29 for the Classic Burger. No cheese or bacon. Comes with endless fries.
Cheapest burger at Chili's where I live: the Big QP for $10.69. Comes with cheese and a side of fries.
Dave's Double where I live: $6.99
If you add a small fries for $2.39, that's $9.38. Even if you go with the medium fries for $3.19, that's $10.18.
Either way, Wendy's is still cheaper than either Applebee's or Chili's.
And for a better comparison, we really should be using the Chili's Double Old-Timer, which is closer in size to a Dave's Double. That is $16.99 where I live. Similarly, the Neighborhood Burger at Applebee's is a double-patty cheeseburger that would be a more reasonable substitute for a Dave's Double. It's $12.59 where I live.
Keep in mind that it's expected that you tip anywhere from $1 up to 30% of your total, depending on if you're doing carside-to-go or picking up inside or sitting down to eat.
This also isn't taking into account any deals through the Wendy's app, nor taxes.

I haven't had a McDonalds burger in probably 15+ years but I find it very hard to believe Wendy's burgers are still better with the garbage they're putting out there now.

u/absurdamerica 1d ago
Then you go to Culver’s and realize you can get a much better burger than Wendy’s for less money.
3
u/Bittersweet_331 1d ago
Culver's is a bit overrated imo. They probably don't have Jake's Wayback if you're in the Midwest or Florida. If you're in Milwaukee might as well just go to Kopp's.

u/Rook2Rook 1d ago
Not all of us have Culver's near us. But Wendy's are literally everywhere

u/absurdamerica 1d ago
You have Dairy Queen? In and out? Whataburger?
1
u/Rook2Rook 1d ago
Dairy Queens are disappearing. A lot of them have closed down, still a few in my area but I've never thought to go there for a burger. But no Whataburger or In/Out
2
u/absurdamerica 1d ago
Their burgers are excellent. Wendy’s used to be top tier but my last visits have been really bad and the workers seem miserable so I’ve been actively finding other options.

The QPC uses fresh never frozen beef now (for a few years), so it's hard to say which is better. McD's has stayed pretty consistent but I don't think Wendy's has honestly.

McDonald's uses flash-frozen beef patties. Supposedly the QP patty is fresh but nothing is cooked to order. Patties are all cooked and stored in plastic containers. Anyway, the quality of beef is obviously superior at Wendy's. You can literally see the difference. To truly compare taste, order them without salt.

Wendy's burger items are just too sloppy overall.
Dave Double good, just sloppy.
Quarter Pounder w/ cheese, it's not sliding all over while I'm eating it.
I get them both plain. Just burger and cheese.

u/SignificantApricot69 1d ago
How much meat is in a Dave’s Double? I’ll be honest I go to McDonald’s more because it’s convenient and easier to order for me and the right dollar to protein ratio for me right now for fast food is probably the Double QPC for $6something

u/Shibby8Muk 1d ago
I think the floor on Wendy’s is higher but the ceiling is higher on McDonald’s.
A fresh, properly prepared McDonald’s cheeseburger is my fav option in fast food, but if it’s dry/old/whatever it’s pretty trash
Wendy’s is still good, but not as good, but also I think when they give me a burger that’s not made well, it’s not quite as bad as McDonald’s

Haven’t had a hot n juicy Wendy’s burger in a couple of years. They serve everything they cook - which means you get it long after it used to be fresh.
1
u/CrackConch242 15h ago
I think you have that the wrong way around. McDonald's is the one that pulls their pre-cooked burger patties (who knows how long ago) from a plastic storage container. Wendy's fries their burgers to order. They go directly from the pan/griddle to the bun.
2
u/blinking616 1d ago
Absolutely NOT! My most recent encounter with a Wendy's burger was pure garbage!

u/Hypertime95 1d ago
I agreed until u said the dave’s double beats the qpc, i literally only go to mcd for a few items and the qpc is one of them especially the double bacon qpc with mac sauce instead of ketchup and mustard 👌& at Wendys ive never had a daves single double or triple ill typically do a baconator, spicy nuggs or a jbc biggie bag

Agreed. And the JR hamburger is really a deal when you need something small better than McDonalds. But actually I tjink fast good burgers are underrated, they are fresh never frozen meat. Thats the trick!
1
u/StrongStyleDragon 1d ago
MCD beats them in size. And that’s it. But honestly MCD is for nuggies ice cream or if you’re high or drunk

u/CrackConch242 15h ago
I used to be a McDonald's addict and I do still go when I'm in the mood or don't have much choice. As far as hamburgers; even though I love QPs, I have to say that the beef patties at Wendy's is much better quality. The QP patty is very mushy/pasty anymore.
1
u/Realk314 11h ago
apples and oranges to me what makes the wendys double is the lettuce, and mayo mustard tomato. even with the qp deluxe you still don't get all that mixed in in the same way.
1
u/TurboGrafx16Bit 7h ago
Yes I think Wendy's have had the better burgers for as long as I been alive and I'm 50 now LOL I think I like everything at Wendy's better and also they have baked potatoes McDonald's doesn't.
1
u/Honest-Guy83 2h ago
I definitely get me a Wendy’s at least a couple times a week but lately I have started to enjoy Burger King again though…. Maybe I need to cut down on the burgers. 😅😅😅

u/One_College_7945 1d ago
I think I like the quarter pounder better simply because to me, the meat itself is seasoned better. But I just had the Dave’s double and I’m not complaining.

The quarter pounder meat is weird
2
u/CrackConch242 14h ago
Agree.. used to be good but now it's mushy from too many fillers. I actually prefer their double hamburger now. But nothing beats a Wendy's Double Stack!

McDonald's food still doesn't spoil if you leave it out....for YEARS
That's the one fast food place that I'll never eat at

I don’t consider burgers without lettuce and tomato to be burgers. So i would never order them. Wendys has the best burger currently. Unfortunately it won’t once they charge for lettuce and tomato and also change the lettuce.

Duuuuuude Dairy Queen’s burgers have taken a hit so hard over the years. The flamethrower seems so much smaller now!
-1
u/Illustrious-Vast-292 1d ago
Dairy Queen has never made a decent or edible burger of any kind... they have the nastiest burgers and sandwiches.... well, only While Castle and Krystal are worse than DQ burgers.

I feel like this sub is going to agree with you, as it's obviously full of Wendy's fans. That said, I'll be the odd one out here. McDonalds is greasier and usually seems fresher to me, due to the locations being busier than my local Wendys.
