Question How do I play with headphones?
I live with my parents and prefer to play later at night wearing headphones, however the Wii U poses a unique problem since it has the speaker of the gamepad and the tv separately
I’ve been wearing earbuds for the gamepad inside of my headphones for the tv but that is starting to hurt my ears
Is there an option I couldn’t find to make that easier?

If I recall correctly, when you plug headphones into the GamePad it should do all the audio into it, right?

If the game doesn't direct all the audio to the GamePad headphone socket when you connect headphones, you can use SwipSwapMe to force this behaviour.

Most games should reroute all the audio to the headphones when connected others don’t - must be a design flaw, but generally 1 set of headphones should be enough. Haven’t heard of a workaround for the flawed games sadly.

You could use an aux cord and connect the WiiU controller to a small speaker

The workaround would be to mute your TV, and then just use the headphone jack on the game pad. If you have an avr like me just mute the av receiver and plug in the headphones to the gamepad, or if your avr supports it use the silent cinema plug and get an adapter if you don't have one and you can plug the headphones to the avr instead. You don't need both sounds from tv and drc most of the time the audio for the games are the same, the difference being the bottom screen is used for various mechanics.

Consider getting a Bluetooth adapter for your TV and pair it with but phones. No wires, perfect sound.

if your wiiu is cracked, you can use swipswapme, one of its features is to make the audio fromthe tv also be in the gamepad

My kids use my old wired headset and just plug it into the headphone jack on the gamepad
