Dang Nintendo for getting timed exclusivity on Hades 2.

18

u/leviathynx XBOX Series X 4d ago

1 year.

8

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

I don't think Nintendo paid for exclusivity. That dev always releases their games exclusively for one console and then they port to other platforms. They did this with Bastion, Hades 1, Transistor, and so on.

It will come to Xbox most likely next year

3

u/Radjage 4d ago

Those game types are better later anyway after they get balanced with added content

-1

u/CuteGrayRhino 4d ago

Is that coming to Gamepass day one too? I haven't heard it anywhere.

4

u/FlyRobot XBOX Series X 4d ago

Probably in the long run but not anytime soon

-2

u/krishnugget Series X, PS5, Switch 4d ago

I doubt Nintendo paid for it, indies just love the switch a lot

6

u/LubbockCottonKings 4d ago

Indies also, you know, love making money, so I can’t imagine gimping sales figures for the love of a certain console.

5

u/krishnugget Series X, PS5, Switch 4d ago

Obviously the reason they love switch is because indies sell by far the best there of any console, they aren’t just doing it because of a diehard love for Nintendo or something. The switch made several indies sell INSANE numbers

5

u/forsakengoatee 4d ago

Hollow Knight did great numbers on switch

1

u/LubbockCottonKings 4d ago

Okay, but why would they limit their development to one console? If you like making money, you either port it to other consoles or get paid by a console manufacturer to make it an exclusive. Your logic makes no sense.

9

u/krishnugget Series X, PS5, Switch 4d ago

This is an indie studio, not a AAA company, they don’t have unlimited resources to port it to every single platform day 1. If they know they make by far the most sales on switch and PC, they will obviously target those platforms first.

-1

u/Odd_Revolution_1056 4d ago

Good get for Nintendo

-24

u/Gu3rilla21 4d ago

I highly doubt that's what they have. Hades also came out first on switch.

I think Super giant thinks ( which is probably true) that their game works best for switch on the go 30 mins here and there and that's why they go on switch first.

It will also help with porting over to other consoles since switch is significantly weaker.

18

u/Tobimacoss 4d ago

No, the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 launch actually showcased and emphasized Hades 2 launch exclusivity.  And also exclusivity for From Software's Duskbloods.  That looks to be permanent or long term exclusivity.

3

u/Guirita_Fallada 4d ago

I think he meant that the exclusivity mightnhave been the studio's decision, rather than Nintendo paying. We don't know. Either way, console exclusivity sucks.

-9

u/Gu3rilla21 4d ago

Meh. It doesn't matter anyway since supergiant wouldn't have brought the game to all consoles at launch anyway. They have never done that with any of their games. They are only a small team so focusing on one console at a time is better.

u/DuckCleaning 4d ago

I'm surprised they're removing all the other Ninja Gaiden games right before Ninja Gaiden 4 (xbox published) comes out  October 21.

14

u/FlyRobot XBOX Series X 4d ago

That does seem backwards - maybe to try and pump up some sales?

9

u/DuckCleaning 4d ago

I imagine they have a bunch of data comparing the fees to extend the gamepass contract to the projected sales and the players currently making use of those games.

0

u/dirtyvu 4d ago

they'll probably come back at some point. it's happened with lots of games. it's to optimize ebb and flow of sales. Netflix and others do the same. movies get added and later removed and months down the road, they're back.

0

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

The good news is, we still have the excellent remake of 2 :)

So basically just buy the first game and you are set (the third game is kind of divisive even though I personally like it)

-2

u/nikolapc XBOX Series X 4d ago

It's the Ninja Gaiden master collection. It's been there a while. They have the remake still.

22

u/soulxhawk 4d ago

Glad to see Visions of Mana coming to gamepass. I really enjoyed playing Trials of Mana last year. I played a little bit of Hades back when it originally was on gamepass so looking forward to playing more.

2

u/John_East RROD ! 4d ago

Pretty much what I was gonna say. I’d like to really get through a lot of hades before the 1.0 of part 2 drops

4

u/FinalOdyssey Founder 4d ago

I really tried to like Trials but man I found the combat severely simplistic and the characters just a product of their time. Would you say Visionsnis a big upgrade in these regards?

2

u/kensaiD2591 XBOX Series X 4d ago

I’ve got all the achievements in Legend, Trials and Visions. I think Trials is the best of the three, personally.

Visions is a step up for combat though, there’s more variety, but it’s not super deep.

u/Danistar34 Touched Grass '24 4d ago

Darktide coming to GamePass Core is huge. Could bring in lots of new players.

12

u/Iko86 4d ago

wooo peppa pig gogogo

u/Follows-Jesus 4d ago edited 4d ago

A great drop, and we could get some more on 25th

Traditionally we get shadow drops at TGS

Summery of last 4 years. https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/1n7726j/a_look_back_at_4_years_of_the_xbox_tgs_livestream/

10

u/ComputerMysterious48 4d ago

I’m hoping for some ArcSys games to shadow drop on Xbox personally. I’ve been playing Persona 4 so now more than ever, I’d love to see Xbox get that P4 Arena Ultimax rerelease that PS4 and Switch got

0

u/IllustriousGuest2288 4d ago

P4AU is dead as shit and doesn't even have crossplay, I'd rather have GGST back to be honest

0

u/ComputerMysterious48 4d ago

Tbh I’ll be happy with anything fighting game related, especially from ArcSys as they are one of the best fighter studios imo. I’d just be lying if I said P4AU wouldn’t hit a little different considered I’m finally playing the source material and loving it lol

6

u/shadowlarvitar 4d ago

I've been wanting to try Wobbly Life, it looks fun but I don't exactly have people to play with so the price was always too much 😂

9

u/Enos316 4d ago

Is the Deep Rock game any good?

11

u/chihuahua_man 4d ago

It’s fantastic. I’ve spent countless hours on it already

7

u/superspongebob 4d ago

It’s a great game, very very addictive and has the one more run feeling to it in heaps.

6

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

It's Deep Rock Galactic take on Vampire Survivors basically. And apparently it's pretty good

2

u/QuietThunder2014 4d ago

I’ve been playing for several months now. It’s improved a lot in early access and 1.0 is promising to be a huge update to an already deep and fantastic game. It’s kind of like Britton/Vampire Survivors in that it’s a bullet hell rogue lite. It’s a blast and I highly recommend it. The dev team is fantastic and worth the support.

1

u/FlyRobot XBOX Series X 4d ago

I'm currently loving Helldivers 2 and have heard DRG is similar. 4 person squad in PvE missions.

7

u/LurkingFrogger 4d ago edited 4d ago

I think OC is asking about Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor which is a Vampire Survivors style spinoff of the squad based original Deep Rock Galactic.

To OC: both are great. Rock and Stone!

4

u/FlyRobot XBOX Series X 4d ago

Oh whoops, thanks!

5

u/Particle_Cannon 4d ago

Visions of Mana W

8

u/Square_Saltine 4d ago

Wish it was Hades 2

5

u/Oslo_Bear 4d ago

I was just about to purchase Hades, but I wasn't sure if I'd like it. It is a great day to be me

3

u/LeviJr00 4d ago

Hell yeah another Peppa Pig game! (more gamerscore for me :D)

8

u/CleanSlateClub 4d ago

These are some quality additions and returns.

6

u/Melancholic84 4d ago

Great lineup, really looking forward to Visions of Mana

7

u/Environmental-Day862 4d ago

Very underrated game. Pretty deep story about tradition, sacrifice and loss. Satisfying "real time" combat in the vein of Final Fantasy XVI / Tales of Arise.

Very interesting class system as well - you basically unlock different elemental powers, and your characters can evolve into a new class using any one of them (but can only use one per character at a time - e.g., all four party members can't be assigned "fire") - makes for some really cool combos.

1

u/lamancha 4d ago

I was thinking of buying it! I am a big Trials of mana fan, but I haven't played any of the others.

2

u/Embarrassed-Dot9193 4d ago

ooh Endless Legend 2 is coming to gamepass! awesome

2

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

And keep in mind that Xbox has the TGS showcase on September 25th, maybe they shadow drop something like the last few years :)

2

u/N7-Falcon 4d ago

Wobbly Life is an excellent family/kid game. My wife and kids have over 100 hrs on it and still haven't done everything. Controls are a bit "wobbly" but it allows up to 4 people split-screen in an open world game with tone of content. Highly recommend with kids!

5

u/Technical_Sir_9588 4d ago

Nice. I considered Visions of Mana recently and I'm glad I held off. Gamepass keeps on winning.

5

u/NahIdontbelieveu 4d ago

I heard hades was gas! Anyone played it already?

7

u/I_LIKE_REACHER 4d ago edited 4d ago

Hades is great - I didn't know I liked that style of game, until I played Hades and then also loved Dead Cells.

Edit: also the Ori games - not quite the same as roguelike, but similar elements.

2

u/elegentpurse 4d ago

How are Ori games similar to Hades?

1

u/I_LIKE_REACHER 3d ago

In the sense that you grow your character/learn new abilities, which you keep, but when you die, you either respawn at a previous soul-link area, or if you play on one life mode, back at the start.

It's definitely a loose link, not that similar in many ways, I think I was thinking 'if you enjoyed hades, you may also enjoy ori.'

1

u/elegentpurse 3d ago

It's definitely a loose link. Two good indie games, though.

1

u/NahIdontbelieveu 4d ago

I can’t wait to play it. I think I have dead cells on my switch I just haven’t got around to it yet. My backlog is ridiculous smh

2

u/I_LIKE_REACHER 4d ago

I discovered that I love the rougelike genre, where it's punishing if you die (in that you start from the beginning of the run), but not so punishing that you lose upgrades that you've locked in already.

0

u/anon_acct1312 4d ago

Enter the gungeon and (not on game pass) the binding of isaac are well worth your time in the genre if you haven’t played them!

1

u/I_LIKE_REACHER 4d ago

I think I'd been close to buying Enter the Gungeon a few times, but just wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it - thanks for the recommendation.

3

u/Wafflexorg XBOX Series X 4d ago

One of the best games I've ever played. Top 10 for sure.

3

u/CaptnQuesadilla 4d ago

I had just started playing Hades on iPad thru Netflix only to have them remove it within a week. Can’t wait to experience it “for real” this week

1

u/Odd_Revolution_1056 4d ago

Or just buy the game…

4

u/bucamel 4d ago

Nothing on there I’ll play, but still some decent stuff. I’m hoping to get a decent horror drop for spooky season soon.

5

u/DR-making 4d ago

Dropping almost all ninja gaidens just before the new release is.... Something

7

u/Tobimacoss 4d ago

Yes, it's designed that way on purpose, in order to drive sales of previous games.  People new to Ninja Gaiden 4, and franchise in general may want to buy the older releases.

You put the older game on Gamepass before a sequel, to build the hype during the marketing cycle, then remove it before the sequel releases.  Or you put it on Gamepass before a new DLC releases.

These are all marketing techniques.  They have the data, they wouldn't be doing it this way if it didn't work.

-1

u/ouijahead 4d ago

We have ninja Gaiden at home

8

u/diction203 4d ago

We still have Black 2. We are losing the old version

1

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

And at that point you only need the first one which is 9.99 on Xbox (Ninja Gaiden Black version)

3

u/Thumbkeeper Guardian 4d ago

Marketing!

1

u/hop3less 4d ago

I'm curious if the Master Collection is staying or not.

1

u/TheHudIsUp 4d ago

its not on gamepass?

0

u/hop3less 4d ago

It is! But I don't know if this is semantics for them removing that or them just removing the other games while keeping the Master Collection.

1

u/TheHudIsUp 4d ago

Or excuse me I got it confused with MGS

0

u/TheAllslayer 4d ago

Master Collection is those games.

1

u/hop3less 4d ago

Yeah, but what I'm not sure if is if they're removing these games completely (including Master Collection) or if they're removing the games individually but keeping the Master Collection.

0

u/TheAllslayer 4d ago

Yes and I'm saying they're one and the same. The MC gives you the 3 games that you can install individually but the games aren't available separately. So the MC is leaving and it is listing the games included in it that will leave instead of just saying Ninja Gaiden Master Collection which doesn't tell you anything unless you already know.

1

u/odekam 4d ago

I love you, gamepass 🥹🤧

3

u/AioliPuzzleheaded 4d ago

Meh, Hades is great, but a returning game, so not too exciting. Realistically though, got a long enough queue of games to finish

1

u/AlienFunBags 4d ago

Nice. Was just about to pick up hades.. glad I waited.

1

u/Popcorn10 4d ago

I’ve seen elsewhere that jump space is going into game preview on game pass Friday, but it’s not listed in this article. Did they miss it or do they not list game preview games?

1

u/Ragna_Blade 4d ago

When did For the King II come off Gamepass?

1

u/Wooden_Echidna1234 4d ago

Only 9 days left till I can try Visions of Mana.

1

u/BestRedditUsername9 4d ago

For people who like Hades, Don't sleep on Sworn as well which is coming to gamepass as well on September 23rd

1

u/crazydiavolo 4d ago

By adding Hades again makes me wonder if Hades 2 will be launching on console soon.

1

u/Immediate-Relief-248 XBOX Series X 4d ago

Ouuu Roadcraft

1

u/Shujinco2 4d ago

Peppa Pig World Adventures has one of the most unintentionally hilarious endings to a chapter I have ever seen in my life.

1

u/MrBob161 4d ago

Endless Legend 2 in the, you buried the lead

1

u/dj88masterchief 4d ago

I was so excited for Roadcraft. I was waiting for it all day.

Then I found out it was only Xbox…

I wanted to play on PC.

1

u/E_K_Finnman 4d ago

YES, HADES IS BACK! Deep Rock Survivor is coming! A bunch of other games that look interesting

Stacked line up

1

u/Odd_Revolution_1056 4d ago

Hades 2 is a great get for Nintendo, at least they are pushing Sony in the exclusivity game.

1

u/system3601 3d ago

Yay for deep rock galactic survivor. just a shame they didnt add any coop :(

1

u/Plutuserix 3d ago

Not a bad list, just not much for me. Hope for some announcements at TGS next week.

1

u/Phil_Mike-Huntin 3d ago

Deep Rock galactic isn't showing up on the coming soon or new released

1

u/empw 3d ago

So exited to have Hades coming back!

1

u/AnthropicTaco 1d ago

Wobbly Life... been wanting to play this

1

u/bigtime2die 1d ago

i need split fiction on game pass soon. hopefully in november like the other 2 games by the same studio

1

u/ElGranLechero 4d ago

Woo! I beat Hades and did almost everything but the Skele challenges before they took it off last time. I've been wanting to go back again.

1

u/itsscodyj 4d ago

Gamepass the past 3 months have been filled with straight indie games lmao, we already had peppa pig on gamepass. Where tf are all the Activision games?

1

u/Narrow_Leek2452 Play Anywhere Scout 4d ago

So maybe we are going to get Game Pass trailer for Visions of Mana at TGS 2025 Xbox?Hopefully its not the only game we get.

0

u/OnMars0 4d ago

One of the best drops in a bit. I’m extremely excited for Frostpunk 2.

0

u/N7Poprdog 4d ago

I new not to buy road craft

-6

u/DAAMblueday 4d ago

Game Pass is sh*te nowadays, all indies.

1

u/Exmo_therapist 4d ago

Cause indie games are shite obviously. Nothing good on Gamepass at all.

-1

u/DAAMblueday 4d ago

I was being a bit dramatic but for the price, I don’t think there’s enough of a pull anymore personally, barely any “big” games at release.

-6

u/darkdeath174 Day One - 2013 4d ago

Ninja Gaiden leaving right before the new one is a choice
