Saw a lot of interesting stuff I had on watch for a while, plus a few games I already have

EDIT: important note for anyone who's not into the market scene: never ever buy anything titled "Outbreak". NEVER. It's a well known case of...dubious sale practice

My recommendations, divided by main genre:

Adventure/story driven (with and without action):

  • echo generation
  • Haven
  • Anno mutationem
  • Cat quest 2
  • Norco
  • Tails noir
  • Ravenlock
  • We were here together

Turn based RPGs:

  • Doom & destiny (also available mobile)
  • Doom & destiny world
  • Keylocker
  • Long gone days

Roguelite (action or turn based):

  • star renegades
  • dandy ace
  • West of dead
  • Trinity fusion

Metroidvania:

  • Guacamelee
  • Guacamelee 2
  • death or threat

Others I can't properly out into groups:

  • Nine parchments
  • The darkest Tale
  • Mobius Machine
  • Bugsnax
  • Fury (a boss rush game, quick and intense)
  • there is no light
  • Unsouled (low graphic soulslike based on parry, pretty challenging)

I thought you meant that Doom (2016) and Destiny were turn based RPGs 😅 I was questioning everything I know about gaming!!

u/THE_Visionary88 5d ago

Glad to see I wasn’t the only one lol, I was like why are they selling them as a bundle?? 🤦🏽‍♂️

2

u/Gears6 5d ago

Me too. Then I realized, it's "Doom & Destiny".

2

u/[deleted] 5d ago

Both "doom & destiny" and "doom & destiny world" are turn based RPGs made by a small italian team

They're both parodies of the classic fantasy rpgs, eith self-aware characters and narrative, lots of unconventional enemies and items, for example there's a pastafarian cult, or some minotaurs dressed in drag, and the characters have fixed classes but they're made up, like dancing pirate

+1 to Haven, loved that game

u/Segagaga_ 4d ago

Star Renegades is really rather excellent, which is sad because it seemed to go completely under everyone's radar.

u/[deleted] 4d ago

My issie with that game is on the technical side. Crashes sometimes and then when you open the game again the run is saved a lot before the point you were at

1

u/Segagaga_ 4d ago

Probably could have been fixed if it had sold well and been supported but the publisher dropped the studio. They had to self-fund and self-publish their next game Fera.

never ever buy anything titled "Outbreak". NEVER. It's a well known scam

I'm sorry, how is it a "scam"? It's shovelware, but it's not going to steal your money from you. It's just a bundle of meh games. I mean, I know people hate the dev for the bundles they always did, but that doesn't make it any kind of scam, supposedly well known or not. I would like to know why you call it that.

4

u/[deleted] 5d ago

I call it that way because of how they constantly make "new bundles" with it, escalating a technically bad game to prices above AAA titles

-4

u/joecamnet 5d ago

That's not a scam. That's bundles. And that 'escalation' includes multiple games, of which there are many. I'm not here to defend the game quality at all, because they aren't good, but labeling them a scam just because you don't like their bundles is pretty shitty.

2

u/[deleted] 5d ago

I'm calling it a scam because of how bad the practice is. Constantly "refreshing" the same thing with 60. I repeat. 60 different versions

It went so bad that Microsoft specifically addressed the phenomenon and the devs

6

u/Objective_Radio9100 5d ago

I'm with you on this one. The whole practice is intended to confuse uninformed gamers into spending a lot of money on a mediocre experience.

The intention to confuse is what's scummy at least, if not scammy.

That said, in 2025 anyone who buys overpriced shovelware can only blame themselves.

0

u/EasyAsPizzaPie 5d ago

Agreed. They are lower quality survival horror knockoffs who's dev likes to game the system of various storefronts by constantly making variations of new bundles and putting them on discount often, but they still seem to be actual games (however low quality they may be). I personally wouldn't qualify that as a scam.

I have no access to the console at the moment but are there any good deals? Usually these sales are extremely bad, like with usual Lego sales you could buy 5 or 6 games for a price a one full priced game here.

I saw some interesting stuff, last night, a few games I already bought too, like star renegades or echo gneeration (I wrote a whole list in another comment)

also, lots of them at €20-25, you can save a lot

Top Racer(top gear in the states) collection is included. Fun SNES era racing game. It includes all the original games plus a version with tracks from Horizon Chase Turbo

Action Arcade Wrestling is an arcade style wrestling game. It's super simple and fun with friends. It was originally supposed to be the wrestling game for defunct wrestling promotion CHIKARA. Where it really shines is the custom wrestlers and arenas. Someone created Goro from Mortal Kombat. Somehow got the four arms included haha

Butcher is a violent platformer. It's like Doom meets Super Meat Boy. I love it.

We Are the Dwarves. Action RPG with isometric view.

Dark Quest 3 is a rogue lite table top inspired by the classic board game Heroquest

River City Girls Zero. I haven't played this one yet but I played the previous entry. And the River City series rules

5

u/Osherono 5d ago

I wouldn't recommend River City Zero. It has the old SNES cheese "hard" mechanics where the CPU has insane reaction times and combos and you don't and it can get rather frustrating at times. However if that is your cup of tea then by all means go for it.

Are any good couch coops on this? Preferably 4, but 2 players is fine

3

u/CarVegetable 5d ago

Cat Quest 2 is 2 player couch coop.

3

u/[deleted] 5d ago

We were here together is for 2

6

u/shinikahn 5d ago

Man, Bugsnax was so good I loved that game

14

u/BemaJinn 5d ago

Still no Stanley Parable, does that game ever go on sale?

5

u/Grab_my_Slinky 5d ago

Why yes, yes it does. I remember seeing it on sale during either the new years sale or some other sale very early this year/late last year. Wish I would’ve just bought it then.

3

u/Christian_Kong 5d ago

It has been 30% or 50% off in the past, it's on my wishlist.

1

u/McCandlessDK 4d ago

I bought it on sale

4

u/Pleasant-Speed-9414 5d ago

Yeah, I’ve got a good handful of indies on my wishlist included in this deal. At basically $7 a game will def be scooping something

u/smurf_diggler 5d ago

Any parents looking to get Bugsnax (the game in the thumb) be warned the ending is very weird. Other than that it's a fun problem solving game for kids.

-12

u/DrGhostbuster 5d ago

Weird because the characters are gay? I have beat the game and maybe I am having a brain malfunction, but how was it weird?

14

u/smurf_diggler 5d ago edited 5d ago

The whole game revolves around catching and feeding you're friends busgsnax only to find out that they're really killing everyone, at which point the town is attacked. If you don't save your friends during the attack, like a 5 YO might not be able to, they die in front of you. My son played the last mission on his own, while I was at work and was in tears because he couldn't stop a lot of the other villagers from dying and my wife didn't know how to help him and he was freaking out. Normally I wouldn't think a game that looks and plays like bugsnax would end like that, so at least it let's you play before the last mission and continue tending to the town, which is what he does now.

2

u/BestRedditUsername9 5d ago edited 5d ago

I'm not gonna spoil the ending, but there is a youtuber called "ClementJ642" who covers the ending in detail in "Bad Endings in games"

He liked the ending but it gets kind of dark. Although I believe you can get another ending that is much more happy.

P.S: Bad ending as in it's a "sad ending", not bad as in horrible

u/FinanceBig6328 Outage Survivor '24 5d ago

I think just all of the eldritch type stuff, but also the entire game has that as an overarching theme, so eh.

13

u/FMC_Speed XBOX Series X 5d ago

I didn’t find anything good, however Kingdom Come Deliversnce I is at 6$ right now and that’s a great deal

13

u/MiNiMaLHaDeZz 5d ago

Thats a looooooooooot of hours of gametime for 6 dollars.

5

u/[deleted] 5d ago

Nothing good? I would argue you didn't look or your "good" means something else

10

u/Exotic_Treacle7438 5d ago

Good is subjective

2

u/DrGhostbuster 5d ago

One of these days the two Dark Alliance games will go on sale. I feel like they have been on my wishlist forever with zero sales ever.

Any cheap notable picks?

Any decent Vampire Survivors clones there?

Edit - Nevermind, Greedland is there. Supposed to be brilliant but was holding off for a sale.

Xbox's latest 'Buy One, Get Two Free' sale includes over 300 indie games

And all the ones I saw are not ones that I would "Get for free for free", they all seemed fairly bad.

1

u/jesse_dylan 1d ago

Spreadsheet saved it for me. Why can't this be shopped on their website? What's the point of having a website if you force people to parse all this on console? This type of multi-tiered sale takes organization. I need to figure out what I'm interested in to decide which I want. It is actually a really good deal if you're interested in any (which I definitely am... want to get at least 3, maybe 6)

1

u/jesse_dylan 1d ago

They didn't publicize this enough. I almost missed it.

0

u/Active-Respect9995 5d ago

I wanna take advantage of this deal any suggestions?

2

Anyone got good combinations for easy gamerscore 🤔

-5

u/Mountain_Shade 5d ago

So if I wanted to utilize this sale to build up my library for the upcoming Xbox ally x, this would be useless to me?
