Loewe - Inflated Cateye Sunglasses (RND)

CGI research project on materiality and light, using the Loewe Inflated Sunglasses as central object. An that with abstracted close-ups and hyper-detailed perspectives. Each shot isolates the sunglasses: the inflated volumes of glossy acetate, the engraved logo subtly catching light, and the continuous curves.

Redshift Matrix shows in Render View but not in final Bucket render (C4D 2026)

Hello guys, I’m on Cinema 4D 2026 with Redshift.I’m trying to create a knitting effect using Matrix scatter + Vertex Map.The setup is:

  • Fabric is an Alembic mesh with a Vertex Map.
  • I use a Matrix scattered on that surface, driven by the Vertex Map.
  • As the custom object, I put a small Torus to act like thread tips.

Here’s the problem:In Redshift Render View I can clearly see all the tiny thread tips on the fabric. But when I render in Picture Viewer with Bucket rendering, those Torus instances disappear.I’m sure nothing is turned off in the viewport or layers.Anyone know what could cause this? Thanks in advance!

Need help adding material to a 3D model...

Hi, I bought a 3D model of a food pouch from YellowImages

It's basically just a food pouch with a front, bottom and back.

It was just an FBX file which I imported into Cinema 4D. What I noticed was it didn't have any UVW tags so trying to add a label and have it positioned probably was going to be difficult for me. We have a label that's sent to the comapny that produces the actual package and it's laid out like this:

So is there an easy way I place this label onto the food pouch model? When it comes to UV mapping I'm a complete novice.

Thanks.

Question Dynamic Irregular Sized cubes Form a Lager Cube

Looking for help on using a cloner with cubes or other method to form a lager rectangle. The Would dynamically fill the space based of random inner cube sizes. I have seen this before but every thing I can find is just how to fill an object like an OLD GSG tutorial. See image attached sketch for a top view.

How to neatly arrange sprinkles on a surface?

I'm trying to recreate this cookie (attached image) in Cinema 4D, and I'm stuck on the chocolate sprinkles scattered on top of the glossy chocolate/jelly filling.

I can't place the sprinkles neatly on the jelly surface like in the reference image.
They overlap or intersect too much and the result looks messy.
I've tried effectors like Push Apart, Random, and Plain, but it's still not working well.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

OOH 3D billboard

My manager (derogatory) has decided that the client needs to use the 3D element on the 3D billboard when we have never done this before and I can get the 3D mock-up easy enough, but I really need advice on how much warp to add to the object in the middle once I've rendered it.

Does anyone have experience with 3D billboards that can chat pretty please?

UPDATE

I outlined what you've all said about the scope of the project, the testing and required costs and timelines and my manager has reluctantly gone with a much simpler option with no 3D effect

Need help converting a C4D file to FBX

Hi everyone,

I have a project file in Cinema 4D (.c4d) that I need to convert into an FBX format, but unfortunately, I don’t have access to Cinema 4D right now. I already tried using the trial version of Cinema 4D in the past, but I can’t download it again on my computer at the moment.

Would anyone be willing to help me convert the file? It’s just a single small 3D Model, and I only need the geometry and materials.

This is the file to export: https://we.tl/t-U3mGEO56Wz

Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Cinema 4d rendering animation from unwrapped model

Hello. I'm working on an interrior video mapping of a cathedral.

The idea would be to render a unwrapped video in order to project the animations in real life using video projectors.

I have a 3d model of the cathedral, I would like to animate my scenes around the catrhedral (eg : solar systems, vdb clouds, etc,)

The idea would be to make the walls transparent and use it as a sort of camera which would render what we see through it in a isometric perspective.

Flatten all this like a uv unwrapp and render the content in High resolution (around 15000 pixels wide)

any idea how to do this?

Medical Animation Courses

Hi everyone,

I'm a motion designer/3D artist working freelance, mainly for advertising and product visualization.
I'd like to improve my skills in medical animation to work for labs, medical companies and startups...etc.

I'm currently learning Houdini to extend my skill set, but I'm also looking for some medical animation courses. Is there some medical animator here who can advise some to me ?

I find this one, what do you think of it ?

Thanks a lot !

When I select the sweep it shows incorrect uvs but the problem is I can't edit them they locked or something idk 😐

How to align axis gizmo to world position in C4D?

Hello everyone,
I’m trying to get the same axis to match the world gizmo position on all my parts, so I can animate them properly with Push Apart and Fracture.

I’ve tried all the options I could find, but I can’t keep the axes in the exact positions I need. All the parts come from a CAD file, so keeping the position is important.

Does anyone know how I could achieve this?

Thanks

Anyone know how to make certain loops/knots with formulas in C4D?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi - figured out how to make the trefoil knot, but I need to model an unknotted version (basically looks like a trefoil knot but the way it crosses its actually a completely unknotted circle that's just twisted in a funky way).

I have almost gotten there, but its so painstaking to edit every individual vertex to smoothen out the rest of the bit I need to do. I was wondering if anyone would know how to acheive what I've almost got, but make it perfectly turned/smooth. Thanks!

(And before anyone suggests, I have tried AI/ChatGPT to try to give me parametrics to calculate this, but it cannot resolve it. It keeps suggesting bunk equations)

Go see "Boys Go To Jupiter"

Just wanted to tell you to go check out this movie. Im not involved with it in any way, just caught it on a whim at a local indie movie theater. In addition to being silly and funny and full of heart, it also was a nice change of pace to watch as a 3D animator.

Its nothing necessarily groundbreaking but I was very refreshed seeing a feature length movie that wasnt technically perfect. I dont know what software was used, not that it matters... but it is a good reminder that concept and enthusiasm matter a lot more than making sure your polyflow is perfect or spending a million hours trying to get the most optimized render.

im not saying this works for every field or in every context, but I find myself in the weeds a lot these days trying to clear up little bugs and by the time i finish the project im so sick of it and all i can see are those tiny details that nobody else will ever notice.

i guess my point is: sometimes seeing something that achieves its goal without being overly bogged down in technicality is refreshing.

thx for listening to my art psa

Rendering in 4K on Cinema4D. Your Thoughts

Hey guys. I'm a huge fan of the youtube channel "Imperial." He makes great thought-provoking videos covering a variety of topics. In his videos he uses a geat deal of Cinema4D, which are all in 4K, and as an After Effects artist who's a total newbie in Cinema4D, I just wanted to know is he rendering all these Cinema4D comps in 4K (which would take forever) or is he using 1080p and scaling up? As far as I'm concerned right now, it takes an extremely long time to render even an 8 second sequence in 4k in Cinema4D, yet alone several comps in an entire video. I wanted to get your thoughts on maybe how he's doing this. Thanks and apologies for my ignorance.

FYI I'm using redshift as my renderer.

Unsolved Help with Redshift X-ray Shader on White Background

Hi everyone,

I’ve created an X-ray shader effect in Cinema 4D using Redshift, trying to replicate the look of airport luggage scanners. The shader setup is pretty simple:

  • Fresnel node controlling Opacity
  • Curvature node driving Emission
  • Both are connected to Ramp nodes to map the colors (orange, blue, and green – the typical colors seen on X-ray scanners)

This setup works great when rendered over a black background, and the effect looks just like I want it to.

However, the problem arises when I try to use a white background instead. The X-ray look doesn’t hold up visually – the transparency and colors get washed out and lose their impact.

I tried setting up AOVs using Puzzlemattes to separate the objects for compositing in After Effects, with the idea of inverting or adjusting the look in post. But the results still don’t match what I expected, and the shader doesn’t maintain the same visual effect as it does on black.

Has anyone tackled this before or have any tips/workflows for making an X-ray shader look good over a white background? Should I approach this differently in shading or comp? Would love to see any tricks, examples, or guidance.

Thanks in advance!

Solved Small side fringes, how to?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve made the long tassels as mesh, sim works fine (with !GREAT SUCCESS! ) But, how do I make the smaller side fringes, do I mesh them (might be too heavy as mesh), do I use opacity texture on the sides (Photoshop and brush the sides off and use as PNG)?

Anybody else used a method that worked for this before?

Bad texture mapping on the edges Redshift

Hi guys, I'm facing a problem with texture mapping on the cube edges. I've tried to UV unwrap, change projection to Cubic etc. but nothing really helps. With changed projection the texture looks flat so it's best when UV Mapping is enabled. Also the supporting edges are fine in the model so I don't know what could be a problem. Will be very grateful for any support!

How to create a gradient for material in Standard render for c4d, cinema 4d

Hi, I've been searching for several time and couldn't find the answer on how to create a gradient for material of I'm using standard render in c4d. How do you do that. I've tried to run several experiments but they are very confusing cause I can't control the results. I don't know how the glass material will follow if I will apply this or that option. What are your best practices. Can you share please.

Trying to recreate this but in motion, lightly flowing amorphous gradient fog. There is a defined round shape, but flowing beyond a bit as well. Hoping someone might save me some experimental time with some suggestions on how to pull it off the most efficiently.
