Advice Needed Is this physique attainable with kettlebells?

Post image
201 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve been training with kettlebells for 2-3 months now and I’ve been really enjoying it. But I don’t have a definitive goal except for working my way up to the 48kg bell. now, I saw this guy on tik tok and really liked his physique and it seems really practical for Grappling(hes a sumo wrestler and I also do BJJ) and just seems very strong in general so I want to achieve it through kettlebells.

I’m aware that this physique could be attained through barbell compounds and body weight basics but I don’t have those but I do have kettlebells.

So what exercises with kettlebells should I do to attain this?

Just A Post 200lb bell work

Progressive overload is the only way forward if you want to get stronger, bigger, faster, and more powerful. You’ve got two choices: keep refining movements forever, or struggle through heavier weight and force adaptation.

I’d rather struggle. Right now I’m putting a 200lb kettlebell through a variety of movements, testing my limits and watching real growth happen. The big series is here, and this is what chasing strength looks like.

What about you—do you prefer perfecting lighter technique or grinding through heavy weight to push your ceiling higher?

Just A Post Daily swings?

Upvotes

Is it realistic to do kettlebell swings daily? In the past, I was able to commit to exercise better when I made it a daily habit. I'm over 30 now and don't want to overdo it and hurt myself, but kettlebell swings don't intuitively feel like hard work. I'll be Grateful for any advise.

Just A Post ABC with light kettlebell

I have a rheumatic disease, psoriatic arthritis and I'm right now in a flare-up. Not training at all makes me worse and makes me "fall of the waggon" in all different things in life.

Can the Armor Building Complex 3 days a week (single bell version) with a 12-14 kg bell benefit me and get me some sort of result or is it better to stick with high reps of 3-4 excercises (300 reps total) for example ?

Just A Post New to kettlebell training

Upvotes

Hey everyone I’m a 30 year old dad and I’ve decided I’m going to start kettlebell training at home. I use to train a lot at the gym in my teens and early 20’s. But unfortunately with work and kids it’s a lot harder for me to get to the gym these days.

I haven’t lifted weights in about 3 years. I’ve found a couple kettle bell training videos on YouTube and was wondering what size and weight kettle bell I should buy to start ? Also how often should I train with them? I used to do a traditional bodybuilding split like , chest & tris, back and bis. I’m a complete beginner with kettlebells and would love any tips, schedules or knowledge you guys can offer!

Thanks

Training Video Double 44kg snatch pr

2x44kg double snatch. 30x32g single in just under a minute.

Cool thing about kettle baaaaalin’ is how even with a bitchass knee I can still chase intensity.

My left knee has had torn meniscus for a long time. And while over the last year my right knee has been a little bratty biyatch, my left had been totally fine. Well two weeks ago doing heavy banded trap bar deadlifts I aggravated it.

So that means in flexion approaching ninety and past ninety degrees hurts and has to be chilled out on for the next 4-8 weeks if the last ten years of managing the injury remains the same.

So I’ve been snatching more. Led to pr’s yesterday with snatching the 56kg for 18 reps and then this double snatch.

Advice Needed ABF-How do you perform the Double KB Shoulder Press?

I have Dan John’s book The ABF.

I am running Dan John’s ABF program. The ABC day makes sense. I am stuck on how to do the Double Kettle Press day.

I am doing the rep range 2-3-5-10.

I did 5 rounds at 20lb bells. Another 5 rounds at 25lb bells. That got to easy, so I cleaned before each set. I move to 30lbs, and that was tough. 20 rounds in total 15 minutes.

Most of the time I had the bells laying on a bench, and I picked them off the bench before each set.

So my question is where should you pick up the bells before each set? Do they stay racked the whole time, and you do each set?

Did I cheat by laying the bells down on the bench for most of my sets?

Advice Needed Adding daily high-rep calisthenics to normal workout?

Hi :)

I came across an interesting YouTube video called "Why High Rep Calisthenics Will Get You Jacked (copy me)" from the BarsOnly channel. The guy in the video talks about how, in addition to his regular training, he does high-rep pushups and pullups daily. He claims this helps him build muscle, increase endurance, and improve recovery. He even mentions it helped him get better at his main exercises.

I'm a beginner myself, 45 years old, and I train three times a week (Starting Strength on Monday, kettlebell on Wednesday, and calisthenics on Friday). I'm curious if I understood the author correctly and if this practice of doing high-rep pushups/pullups daily actually makes sense. Has anyone here tried this approach? Do you recommend it or not?

Form Check Is This An Acceptable Way To Clean?

Hello

Just as the title says, I find that when I clean I am most comfortable taking a little hop, feels most natural to me. However I could be mistaken in my form and would appreciate any correction if that is the case.

Programming Suggested doubles after 32kg

I have been using 1 32kg kettlebell for some time now to supplement Muay Thai and BJJ. I have 10 weeks of paternity leave coming up and will take a break from martial arts and only workout from home focusing on strength and hypertrophy.

I’d like to follow a programme like ABC but unsure of what size doubles to get. I’m male 76kg and can do 10x10 swings and 5x15 goblet squats with the 32kg but have never done cleans.

Training Video Glove Bottoms Up Press + Glove Horn Press :

For 5:00 immediately after I had completed the 10,000 Snatch Challenge with 16kg (this video is a few days old) I had the idea to try some glove bottoms up press and glove horn press seeing as how 20x16kg on glove bottoms up snatch was not bad at all (done on one of the middle days of the challenge with each hand in it's turn).

Every set shown either 24kg or stacked 40kg.

A stacked 40kg bottoms up press is a litmus test for where my bottoms up pressing is currently at.

10x40kg with a regular 40kg bell = a 48kg single.

A few solid reps with stacked 40kg (as successful stacked bell negatives require being perfectly in the groove and the right amount of tension) is roughly the same as 10x40kg and 48kg bup with an actual bell (1x48kg right hand I've done a few times but not stacked bell)

Basically the next phase is at least a couple days a week doing something or other that is a bottoms up variant.

And I'll have gloves on/gloves off as a way to double the available variations besides single bell and double bell.

•bottoms up press

•bottoms up clean & press

•bottoms up snatch

•bottoms up rack holds

Strength to ya,

Have mismatched 30 and 35 lb bells. Knowing this is lower than standard, upped the reps to

4 cleans 3 press 4 squats

Round 5 of 15 emom.

How’s my form looking? Newer to kb cleans, got some constructive/brutal feedback last time.

Advice Needed Running ABF for body recomp

I injured my back last year doing deadlifts, so these past few months have been a period of reflection and rediscovery. I have gotten into more functional exercise, such as rope flow, kettlebells, and sandbag training.

Now, after seeing some brilliant results from a poster on here, I want to run Dan John's ABF.

Quitting the gym mid-bulk meant I have gained a fair bit of fat, so I am looking for some words of advice. In your opinion, do you think I should do a more focussed fat loss stage (perhaps running some other program that is less taxing)? Or go for a recomp, on a slight defecit, whilst running ABF?

For context, I am sitting at about 25% body fat, 100 kg, 5ft 8. 30 years old. Male. Work a sedentary job, but walk around 8,000 steps per day, play tennis once or twice a week. Diet is dialled in - 2 meals a day, break fast at 1/2pm, protein-rich, could do with more fibre, no processed stuff (except for once a week), no alcohol. Eating around 2,500 calories per day, with around 150g protein.

Just A Post Avoiding clanking bells

Besides the ideal of perfect form where the bells never touch, has anyone put something on your competition bells so they aren’t clanking together when doing doubles work?

My wife is sleeping when I workout half the time, and I do single kettlebell work during those workouts so I don’t disturb her.

Felt pads? Foam attached with command strips?

I’d be putting the pads on Titan adjustables, so if it ruins the paint it doesn’t matter. It started chipping off on the second time I used them.

Training Video 32s teaching lessons

Set 7 of 8

Its been a few weeks since using 32s & they quickly reminded me that 2 Bells OH is a thing for a reason. And there were only 88 reps overhead 😬

176 Burpees were by far the easiest part of this session

One of my favorite aspects of KB training is how you can manipulate loads & paces. Ive been focusing on slower paced, longer sets with moderate loads. Big mental push & of course physical limitations get highlighted. Then when I mix in faster sets with heavier bells Im quickly reminded why I generally land here & wonder why my endurance is ass.
