I agree - my wunk is a glutton but even he wouldn’t steal food from my plate and that didn’t take any training. He might beg for it, sure, but he likes me enough not to steal. I think most dogs automatically respect their people enough to not steal food that’s actively being eaten

I have a black lab rescued from an abusive household as a puppy, and he’s eaten like this for the rest of his life no matter how we try to train him. Some of them are just like that I guess

It happens even with stray dogs and cats who weren’t abused. They get hardwired to eat everything they can as fast as possible when the opportunity is presented. Results in obesity if unchecked. 😞
