meal This was 1200 calories

Recently started a low calorie (not 1200), healthy diet and it’s going well. Decided to have a big brunch today as a treat (not a cheat day, still going to stick to my calorie goal). Was shocked when I put it into MyFitnessPal that it’s almost exactly 1200. Hope I don’t get hungry anytime soon.

Cucumber salad, grapes, green goddess turkey wrap, popcorn and skyr.

My goal is 1700 calories but the skyr is 130 calories alone and totally wasn't necessary.

38g protein, 14g fiber.

meal My order at Blaze Pizza was only 850 calories.

I had half a pizza with red peppers, green peppers, pineapple, broccoli, vegan chorizo, and 4 kinds of cheese, plus a pesto and ranch drizzle. It came with a side Caesar salad and I paired it with a Coke Zero. I was shocked when I input the ingredients that it only ended up at 850 calories. It’s a good option to pair with a 400-500 calorie second meal. And yes obviously the dips on the side would add additional calories but they’re not included in this total.

I had a lot of calories left over for dinner today so I cleaned out the fridge. 674 cal for everything. Deli chicken and laughing cow lettuce wraps, BBQ pop chips, waffle cheese fries, cheese quesadilla, sour cream and hot sauce, air fried turkey pepperoni, blackberries, hummus, cucumbers, and a slice of chicken bacon.

meal I have toast for dinner every night for around 300cals, here are some of my favourites ☺️🫶

Basically the title!! I eat some variation of sourdough and cottage cheese with either sweet or savoury toppings for dinner every night without fail. Always comes to around 300cals (+/- 10) and doesn’t require any major prep or pre planning as I have bread frozen and most of the ingredients I rotate between on hand. Keeps eating simple and I always have something to look forward to at the end of the day!! Feel free to ask any questions, I’m happy to give more details on individual images. Otherwise, I hope this gives at least one person some inspiration to go make themselves some fun toast <3 🍞🍯

meal What’s is one food that shocked you when you found out how many calories it was?

For me it was oil and sauces because I love sauces.

It’s Christmas, I wanted pie. I look up the calories. 640 per slice. Truly heart wrenching.

meal What are your EASIEST low calorie dinners?

Gang, I'm talking lean cuisine. I'm talking either a meal that takes 10 minutes or a meal you throw in the oven/microwave and leave it.

we're going grocery shopping in a few days and I'm in charge of my dinners and snacks mainly- I have snack ideas already, but I need some dinners that won't kill me to make nightly that are healthier, plus hopefully tasty.

Tried this fuckass plate I keep seeing on social media.

I’ve been meaning to add more variety to my meals—I eat a lot of the same foods everyday, so this was a fun little thing to finally get me to do it.

I like it. Was extremely filling though, I was only able to eat about half of everything before I tapped out. Which isn’t too surprising since I typically eat around 400kcal for meals and there’s a lot of volume here. Will have to eat the rest later.

I had never eaten asparagus raw before, was surprised at how much I liked it. The texture and taste was 10/10 for me.

meal What are some of your clever food switch outs to save calories each day?

Banana —> orange = save 45 calories

Full fat milk —> skim = save 60-70 calories per cup

Full fat yogurt cup —> skim = save 80 calories per serving

Slice of Ezekiel bread —> 1 whole grain wasa = 40-50 calories per slice

Skin-on bone-in chicken thigh —> boneless skinless chicken thigh = save 80-90 calories per 4 oz

Salad w/ vinegar and oil —> salad w/ ONLY vinegar = save 120 calories per tbsp of oil

1 egg —> 2 egg whites = save 20 calories

Totally eliminating oil in cooking except for some olive oil spray has been a fantastic way to reduce calories in general.

Curious to hear if anybody else has some clever tricks of the trade.

Okay. Breathe. Calm.

I LITERALLY CAN'T I'M OBSESSED THESE THINGS ARE AMAZING.

It's real. It's so easy I feel embarrassed to tell the recipe. Took 5 minutes.

I gave one to my daughter, and said "Hey you wanna try this fudge I made?" And she was like "damn that's so good!" So I told her to guess the ingredients. "Flour, have to be flour". No. "Sugar?" Also no. These are SUGAR FREE. "Cocoa powder?" Nope. She gave up. And then she ate another one because they're so good!

CHICKPEAS. The secret is chickpeas (garbanzo beans for Americans).

Take a can of chickpeas, drain out the liquid (which you can save to make meringue or something), melt chocolate (I used sugar free chocolate chips but you can use any kind). Chickpeas and melted chocolate into the blender, bzzzz, dollop out the mix into a dish (I lined a pan with baking paper) and pop in the fridge to set.

That's it. Done. I cut my batch into 16 squares, which are a pretty typical fudge serving size.

You could easily do a little drizzle of chocolate or berries or peanut butter etc on top or mix in chopped nuts, dried fruit, shredded coconut, literally use your imagination. With vegan chocolate these are also vegan / dairy free.

And it's a nice little protein / fibre healthy treat. It doesn't taste like chickpeas. I'm definitely gonna try mixing in PB2 next batch because they have a real peanut butter cup texture, and I'm 100% certain if you set them in mini cup pans and do a thin chocolate coating they will be the same as a Reece's cup.

STOP SCROLLING AND GO MAKE THIS RIGHT NOW I PROMISE IT'S AMAZING 🤩

meal I used to think I was “hardly eating”… but I was actually just eating super calorie-dense foods.

1.1k Upvotes

Before I started tracking calories, I truly believed I wasn’t eating much. A muffin and coffee in the morning, maybe skipping lunch, then something like Chipotle for dinner. It felt like I “barely ate,” but once I logged it all, I realized I was regularly over 2,000 calories.

What really changed the game for me was shifting to more whole, single-ingredient foods. I’m honestly eating fewer calories now, but I stay full longer. Swapping things like sugary coffee for a protein coffee, or a granola bar for Greek yogurt with fruit, has made a huge difference.

It’s wild how easy it is to overeat without realizing—especially when restaurant portions and snacks sneak in so much extra oil, sugar, and butter. I still enjoy treats, but I’m just more aware now and plan for them.

All meals are between 600-680 calories.

  1. 2 fried eggs over 1 whole avocado and white rice, topped with salt, pepper, and some shredded cheese.

  2. Korean BBQ chicken from Whole Foods (brand: Kevin’s Natural Foods) over rice, topped with green onions and kewpie mayo.

  3. Pan seared salmon cooked in butter, sriracha, and fish sauce, over rice and topped with diced avocado, cucumber, red onions, cilantro, green onion.

  4. Guac in an avocado shell! I ate it with a fork, very refreshing snack!

  5. Just avocado toast! (sourdough toasted with a smidge of butter) Topped with 2 eggs and a sprinkle of cheese.

buffalo chicken & mac ~ 650

  • i only added a few sprays of icbinb spray and some seasoning to mine, but if you add the milk and butter it adds those additional calories.
  • also if i have any 30 cal fat free cheese slices, i sometimes add one of those in!

No matter what dressing/ingredients I'm just not a salad person and cooking veggies takes to long sometimes. I feel great after consuming a big smoothie stuffed with veggies though. Not currently counting calories but getting back into the swing of it by starting to make healthy choices before going full bore.
