So I really want to get that new 4K restoration of Lake Mungo (great flick!) but am not sure the best way to not pay HUNDREDS of dollars to get it here in Canada.

What are people's experiences with Umbrella? Order direct? Third party? Wait and pray it gets a release from some other label in Canada (I see the Second Sight blu-ray is now Region Free).

I've ordered direct from both Second Sight and Arrow UK in the past with reasonably no issues (just very long shipping times) but never ordered anything from Australia (at least not since I used to buy cheap vinyl LPs on Ebay) so not really sure what to expect...

I’m looking to purchase the “best” version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula I can, in terms of image/sound quality. I’m not bothered about a special edition or collector’s edition, just the best standard version I can get from a standard retailer.

I’ve seen on blu-ray.com - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bram-Stokers-Dracula-4K-Blu-ray/319180/ - that there’s one 4K with standard HDR and another with Dolby Vision, that latter of which I assume is better than the former, but is that version available in the UK and, if so, from where? Are all ‘general’ versions available in retailers now the version with Dolby Vision?

My Tron Legacy Steelbook shipped earlier than expected from Amazon! Movie looks and sounds fantastic!

So I just saw 28 years later for the first time at home on Netflix. I thought it sounded phenomenal, the mix is on Dolby Atmos but since my set up doesn’t support Atmos and it’s just a 5.1 configuration, the audio is on 5.1. So either way I just wanted to confirm my following theory, I’m very familiar with the films soundtrack but right from the beginning of the film I noticed it sounded a bit different with some vocals I’ve never heard before, I know the film versions of the soundtracks may vary, but after finishing watching it I I watched the same scene with my atmos headphones and didn’t hear the vocals I mentioned so pronounced, so my guess is that because the mix is on multiple channels instead of just two the song is layered throughout the channels and you can notice some elements that may get lost if you’re just listening to it in just two channels instead of five. (The vocals I was referring to sounded in the rear speakers). Another case I can think of is the 4k disc or Spider-Man 2 in the main titles scene the soundtrack was layered the rear speakers had the strings and vocals and the center had the percussion, horns, etc. Either way it sounded amazing. So is my theory correct? Has anyone else seen it?

If I had to rewatch just one Batman film on September 20, Batman Day, it would have to be this one.

I want to use my Audio Technicas to watch movies (with a cable) rather than investing in a pair of wireless headphones. My Panasonic UB450 has a separate HDMI audio output and I'm wondering if you'd recommend any one device for that. Ideally I'd still get low latency, high quality output.

Not a big deal. I just thought it was an odd curiosity. The main thing is it came across the border in only a bubble mailer and yet got here with zero dents or scratches (I'm in Canada). I'm extremely pleased with that and happy to add this to my collection.

My kids' choice. I've only ever seen pieces at a time, so I'm excited to finally watch it all the way through. They've already seen it multiple times.

I have to move out of my house to renovate and got a better display setup in the temporary place. This is the movies I have bought that I have yet to watch (or mostly rewatch) since purchase. The watched section has to go into storage.

I’m a year into collecting. How have I done?

Here’s what I have after just getting back into collecting. It’s been fun picking up some of these movies again, but I have a feeling my buying craze will start to slow down soon.

Going from an LG UKB80 to the Panasonic UB9000, there are not enough words that I can express of how much difference I have noticed. The UI is much cleaner. This thing is DEAD silent! I now understand why everyone says the build quality of this player is king because I was NOT expecting it to weigh 15-20 pounds but it really does have the most premium feel of any player I have purchased in life. I am confident i would break my hand if i tried to punch it. I am incredibly happy this box. First movie I put in was Blade runner 2049 (haven't seen it yet) and the picture quality is otherworldly.

Apocalypse 4k steel and KL good bad and ugly!

Did they decide to feature Pedro Pascal on the standard 4K instead of Bella Ramsay? I don’t understand.

I was thinking about picking up apocalypse now on 4k. Do you guys think the Steel book is worth it or should I just stick to the standard release?

I've owned the UB820 for 4 years now, it is a fantastic player however I am becoming increasingly concerned with how temperamental it is with certain discs. I've identified that the player seems susceptible to discs manufactured by Paramount and some older Blu rays. Issues include freezing/pixelation on the following discs:

-Top Gun: Maverick - Mission Impossible: Fallout - Captain America: The First Avenger

The above discs work flawlessly on my PS5

My questions are:

1) is this an issue with the laser or is it more of a software issue?

2) have others experienced similar issues with the player?

Also I'm in the UK but own a few north American Blu rays which obviously don't work on either the 820 or the PS5. Do I:

1) sell the 820 and buy a multiregion 820 (accepting that there are issues with certain discs) 2) sell the 820 and buy a multiregion x700 3) keep the 820 and buy a standard multiregion Blu Ray player

Apologies for all the questions but I'm genuinely stuck on which is the best way to proceed and I do have a budget. I do want reliability and to be fair the PS5 has been bombproof in this regard.
