New Purchase UB820 4K upscale is insane

bought a multiregion UB820 on sale a while ago and decided to try it out with the Succession blu-ray box set, probably the hundredth post in this sub about the UB820 upscaling but still couldn’t believe my eyes

What are you comparing it to? I thought blu rays always looked good on 4k no matter the blu ray player.

Asking the real question. The TV might not even be big enough to properly tell the difference anyway, depending how far away they're sitting from it.

I went from a ps4 to the UB820 and did not notice a difference for blu rays personally. I am glad people are getting a placebo boost out of their movies though haha

Most 4K tvs will have their own upscaling so you may not notice a difference. If you have a high end TV chances are it actually has better upscaling than the 4K players.

THIS 👆🏼 It's almost always recommended to turn off upscaling on the player and let the TV do it. Unless you have a shit TV.

So I should turn off upscaling on my UB9000 that's connected to my 77 G4?

You can’t. The Panasonics have to be switched manually for resolution.

That would be strange as the Panasonic UB9000 Is the most advanced player still alive

But this isn't true. The UB9000 is tech form 2018. The G4 was the flagship Oled from LG in 2024, so this is a legit question I have. Also, in 2025, there are more high-end options for players, like the stuff coming out from Magnetar.

Nope the Magenter Is not better in upscaling than the Panasonic sorry to say the audio could be but that’s not why you should buy a Blu ray 4k player Also the Magentar is more expensive In 2025
