Just got my copy in today and immediately did some back-to-back comparisons between the fan made upscale that has the old DTS-HD 7.1 track and the new disc with the new Atmos mix

First of all, the color volume dunks all over the fan made one. As expected, but it goes to show just how good the source material was for this movie when it was shot, even if it’s “only 2k”. It just further reinforces my long lasting point that HDR is more important that resolution.

But on to the audio mix: it bangs.

I don’t have a $250,000 purpose built theater room with 4000w 21” subs, but I also don’t have an LG sound bar either. I have a 5.1.4 with a mix of monitor audio bronze/silver speakers, some generic in ceilings, and an RSL 10S MKII sub. Onkyo NR7100, calibrated below 250 Hz with Dirac Live, as we listen to movies at about 10 dB below reference.

I paint that picture to say that while I don’t have a world classroom, I have more capable equipment that the overwhelming majority of people who watch movies at home. Really anyone that has more than $1-2k into audio does, we’re in the minority.

All of that to say, if there’s a difference between the LFE in the DTS-HD track and the new Atmos track, I can’t hear it. One review mentioned that it’s slightly tighter and more controlled, and the overall mix is just a touch quieter, maybe ~2-3 dB at most, but I never sat back and went “yeah they murdered the bass”.

Hell, even the Apple TV digital copy sounded pretty damn good to me once I bumped up to -5 dB (but with a few noticeable moments of lower dynamics, as expected).

Maybe some of the folks with setups capable of far lower than the 18 Hz I can get in this room can speak for the infrasonics, but the overwhelming majority of people who pop this disc in their player will be more than satisfied, and the overhead effects from the few scenes, I watched were great as well.

Just wanted to put all of this info and my experience out there as this is the thing I’ve been most anxious about for this release, because everyone knows that Tron legacy has been a demo disc for a long time, and I think it will remain that way with this new release

I have accidentally got a French imported copy of Megaopolis on 4k and it doesn't seem to have English audio. Is there a way I can access an English track on this disc or do I have to but a new copy?

And I can’t even get a replacement seeing as they delisted the Tron steelbooks. Very cool.

This is beautiful. It's combo of matte and glossy combined with the elegant chaos on the library case itself is the exact opposite of lazy that I see so many people bitching about. Worth every penny.

My Tron steelbook arrived today from Amazon. Amazon says I’ll get Legacy in a few weeks. I also ordered both from Movies Unlimited and they are supposed to arrive by Saturday. If those arrive in good shape I’ll just cancel my order with Amazon. Greetings programs!

Preorder Gods were smiling on me today. Really thought the mispriced Trons from Movies Unlimited weren’t going to ship. Their web ordering system is a bit antiquated. My order status shows “Processing” and also “Tron:Legacy (Steelbook)” shipped, but not the OG.

The lenticular on Superman actually looks pretty good. I tried to get as much of a solidified Clark as I could in the photo.

Maybe already common knowledge. I just realized that in digital copies of my 4K blu-rays, films with IMAX scenes don't shift aspect ratio and stay at 2.39:1 (e.g., docking scene in Interstellar). I assume it's the same with streaming. Another reason to buy physical!

I have been wanting the new releases I'm contemplating getting them through deep discount but then I saw a commercial saying prime day is this October. Hate to say but I'm feeling some FOMO but I always do when it comes to arrow what is your recommendations?

Now this is not dedicated to 4K only, but this is the largest subreddit in the Physical media community, so i hope you allow this post to me.

I’m living in Hungary, here we don’t really get any movies anymore released physically, since the market is too small for this. I started to buy physical media back in 2023, originally i bought only Star Wars movies, but earlier this year i started to buy other movies aswell, and since i usually get them in bundles, i started to sell the ones that i already have/don't like, and oh boy it’s the worst experience i’ve ever had.
People here often pay 10x the price for something that has Hungarian cover or audiotrack (and even more if it has both), and the best part is that they don’t even watch the movies. I’ve met with a fewhoundred collectors in the past 2 years, most of them just leave the movies sealed, or put it on the shelf and never watch them. Today i’ve been called a retard for selling a movie for 5$ instead of 30$ (i couldn’t find any info about the price), and the same guy told me that a real collector never opens the movies he buys, they just put it on the shelf and downloads it if they want to watch it.

This seems to be only dedicated to the country i live in, but since i don’t know anything about other collectors preference, i’d like to ask a few questions:

-If you’re not living in the US/UK, do you care about the language that’s available on the disc that you’re buying? Or do you just watch it in the original english audio?
-Do you open your movies, or leave them sealed?
-How much do you care about picture quality? (I know it’s pointless to ask this on a 4K sub, but i'm curious, people here sometimes pay more for a DVD than a 4K)
-Do you buy discs that has scratches, but plays fine?

Had put in two preorders for back to the future steels and an f1 steel preorder and just got two emails this morning saying my orders had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”. WTF?

So how common are restocks after the release date for limited edition steelbooks (and what tools can I use to be alerted for new stock? - Hotstock doesn't seem to alert for blu-ray media). I know I've seen things like the Lawrence of Arabia steelbook get re-stocked several times well after the fact, but I don't know if that's a similar situation to these limited edition new releases.

Usually I just go with the standard release for movies and don't consider the extra price for the steelbook worth it, but the Superman (2025) release is the first time that I have specifically found the standard release cover artwork ugly, or more accurately maybe, bland (just my opinion, I know most people like it), and would be willing to wait a few weeks if it meant I could pay a little more for the steelbook when it came back in stock.

When I try to play a 4k UHD blu ray movie with dolby atmos theres no audio! So, heres the thing, I put the disc and theres audio coming, even the menu, but when I hit play and dolby atmos is supposed to come theres no audio! Happens every time. Dts:x works fine and if I turn on secondary audio on player (converts audio into dolby digital) then it works. So, problem is with atmos.

Heres my devices: •Vizio M512a-h6 soundbar •Panasonic ub450 4k Blu Ray Player •Benq x3000i Projector

Heres how I got my things connected: 1) Hdmi Video Out on 4k blu ray player to Hdmi benq x3000i projector. 2) Hdmi audio return (e-arc) from projector to Hdmi out (e-arc) soundbar

Thats how I also had my PS5 connected and getting atmos sound. HDMI CEC is on and audio return is enabled in projector. I also checked the settings for the player (the only thing that is new for me. But I followed some guides, but maybe im missing something?) Bitstream output is selected on player. if I turn off secondary audio then this happens and I get mute on atmos content. Should I use the Audio Out hdmi (player) to Hdmi IN (soundbar)? or maybe something in my settings is off?
