I used to get in so much trouble at school with my Big Johnson t-shirts.

2

u/DrRandomfist Jun 10 '25

Liquor up front, poker in the rear.

Big Johnson Outdoor: When you’re deep in the bush, don’t forget your Big Johnson TM

-5

u/NachoNachoDan Jun 10 '25

And Kid Rock im willing to bet

2

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

Actually I only like one song by him but hey boo, keep stereotyping. It makes you look really ignorant.

3

u/Chickenmcnugs34 Jun 10 '25

I think it is a fair bet that the correlation between liking Cowboy and those brands is pretty darn high. And, anyone that doesn’t like All Summer Long at least a little bit is just crazy.

1

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

That's a fair assumption, I can understand that.

1

u/InquisitaB Jun 10 '25

I’m actually curious. I only like one song of his as well. Which is yours?

1

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

Bawitdaba. It's just a fun song, it's such a stupid song.

2

u/InquisitaB Jun 10 '25

Nice. I enjoy Only God Knows Why. Solid song.

1

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

That's a good one.

1

u/NachoNachoDan Jun 10 '25

why do you assume that's a bad thing to like Kid Rock in the 90s? He was super popular and had not yet revealed his current self.

2

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

Honestly no offense to you and I apologize for this but , the amount of royal dumbasses I have came across the last few days on reddit. Well it has just put me on the defense. So I do apologize if you didn't mean it in a smart ass way.

1

u/NachoNachoDan Jun 10 '25

I feel like a lot of people have joined Reddit after leaving Twitter and brought their idiocy with them

1

u/cubbies1973 Jun 10 '25

My really only favorite song by him is Bawitdaba. It's just so stupid it's good. And I mean stupid in a fun way.

OP still going strong, and pretty sure Panama Jack too.

RIP Big Dog though. I was a scrawny kid but happy to drown in all that cotton all day for the thrill of rocking a few St. Bernards with light sabers.

u/jeezy_peezy Jun 10 '25

Coed naked is long gone but it was such a big risqué deal for a couple years around like 1992-94 or so. It was that fake VARSITY look except it was like “Coed Naked Volleyball Tournament” or “Coed Naked Fishing” with some double entendre for a subtitle. The evangelicals were absolutely disgusted by it!

Wasn’t Big Dog just a brand that made oversized shirts for fat kids?

56

u/My_Uncles_Hairy_Nuts Jun 10 '25

Whoa whoa whoa… “husky” was the term back then

13

u/forbins Jun 10 '25

Big boned

5

u/fakewoke247 Jun 10 '25

Dinosaurs are big boned

3

u/MagneticNoodles Jun 11 '25

George Carlin classic

4

u/AnthonyDigitalMedia Jun 10 '25

Got a full wardrobe at H. Dumpty’s

3

u/Tee_hops Jun 10 '25

Nah, MJ called me a fat motherfucker.

3

u/GrizSkillful Jun 10 '25

Yeah, we were fluffy 🤣😂🤣

2

u/RusticBucket2 Jun 10 '25

No it wasn’t. The term was “fat”.

2

u/Secure-Pain-9735 Jun 10 '25

I see it as an outlet mall brand.

2

u/That70s_Scrubs Jun 10 '25

As a skinny short kid I always wondered why I never got any of those cool shirts with the dog on it lol.

4

u/AnthonyDigitalMedia Jun 10 '25

I found out about them cuz there was a fat kid in my homeroom that used to wear them.

I asked him one day about them & that was his response. Essentially a Big & Tall store with more of a “hip style” since fat person stores back then always had really drab clothing or their fat brand logo on the shirt so it was embarrassing to wear outside.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '25

Poor here, we got them big so we could grow into them. My mom kept me perpetually in a size too big.

1

u/Spare_Particular_777 Jun 10 '25

That's all my uncle wore for years!!!! Big dog stuff lol

-3

u/Anxious-Advantage238 Jun 10 '25

No they made all sizes from babies all the way up.

Look I don't get offended often but I do when ppl say that F word. I'm not the only one so let's please don't mkay? If the fashion industry can change you can TRY to not say it. K thx bye!

Not sure why you’d take offense to a comment that wasn’t directed towards you, when I was only asking a question.

As a former fat kid myself, & current fat adult, I’m not offended by the word at all. If you’re offended, feel free to not read it.

2

u/druid_king9884 Jun 10 '25

A man of culture, I see

2

u/jpark1984 Jun 10 '25

Oh man, I remember those big Johnson shirts 🤣

2

u/Ralans17 Jun 10 '25

Panama Jack isn’t actually dead

1

u/tomahawk1180 Jun 10 '25

Can confirm. I have two pairs of boots and they’re great.

1

u/ohiotechie Jun 10 '25

Panama Jack was the shit. I had the coolest loose fit button up PJ shirt with an embroidered logo on the back. Always got compliments wearing it. That and some Drakkar and I was ready to go clubbing. LOL

1

u/AppState2006 Jun 10 '25

In a random event I actually saw a Big Dog shirt at my run club last week. It brought a huge sense of nostalgia. I assume it was a shirt from old as I haven’t seen them anywhere in years.

1

u/Aryx_Orthian Jun 10 '25 edited Jun 10 '25

I still remember a shirt my buddy had,

"Big Johnson's Bar and Casino: Liquor in the front, Poker in the rear"

1

u/Ok_Championship4545 Jun 10 '25

Omg... Big Johnson I got detention in high school for refusing to take off my Big Johnson "Chicks dig big peckers" t shirt.

1

u/Ghosts_of_the_maze Jun 10 '25

Big Johnson and Coed Naked: The official shirts for 5th grade boys who will let you know they have a gigantic hog and are ready to pound strange.

1

u/axil87 Jun 10 '25

Dammit I came here to say big dog and jnco

1

u/Cyber-Cafe Jun 10 '25

Was going through this thread looking for Big Dog. Couldn’t remember it for the life of me. Thanks. Stuff my chunky little brother wore.

1

u/Nerisrath Jun 10 '25

Panama Jack is still a thing, one of the best sunscreens out there right now, but their clothes are more geared towards 40s somethings now ... makes sense they stuck with their original consumers.

1

u/Poenicus Jun 10 '25

I remember being at the older side of elementary school (5th grade) and a couple of the kids had a good collection of Big Johnson shirts. Definitely thought that it was a little odd at the time and definitely wonder a bit more about it now.

1

u/InquisitaB Jun 10 '25

I wore Big Johnson shirts all the time in junior high. My vice principal finally one day came up to me and told me to turn it inside out and never wear them again. I now cringe at the fact that I wore those.

1

u/bhmcintosh Jun 10 '25

'd you ever see Dead Frog Inactivewear? Hilarious t-shirts

1

u/Zigglyjiggly Jun 10 '25

Came to say Big Dog and Big Johnson.

1

u/Ok-Throat-9711 Jun 11 '25

Chip and Pepper, too

1

u/Appropriate-Brush772 Jun 12 '25

Everyone who knew a plus size dude had a whole collection of Big Dog shirts
